Was about $150ish $129. Great deal if you are in the ecosystem

How much maintenence do these chainsaws require to keep them in good nick, i.e oiling etc?
- 0

I love mine - bought it when it was on sale for $78. It’s been amazing for removing lots of 10m+ bamboo on our acreage, and for clearing fallen branches after storms. 2.5aH battery lasts surprisingly long and makes holding less taxing than 4aH, very easy to clean. I have a petrol chainsaw and the dual battery large Ozito chainsaw and I prefer this mini one unless I need the length.
- 8

Same. I wonder if we can buy this one and return with the $78 receipt from October 🤔
- 1

@L0zBargain: lol you got negged and then someone just wrote the same thing and got upvoted
This place is whacked
- 8

$78 receipt from October
bought it at full RRP last week
Can you spot the two differences?
- -3

Works just as well as the bigger 36v? This will come in handy for all the smaller branches, and I'm going to rig up a pole and switch button to use it as a pole saw.
I have the 36v chainsaw too which is great, but only if you don't need longer run time. I have 4 x 4ah batteries but am considering getting a Stihl or Husqvarna petrol one now as I process a good amount of firewood for myself alone.

the chain is doing 90% the work. so thats where the most performance gonna comes. also small motors like this always go easy, and small bites.
the easiest way to break it is taking too much of a bite and burning the motors. feel how hot the motor gets from time to time, maintenance almost doesn't exist, it is more of a how to use it properly thing. it will last.ofc if you store it away, make sure it is cleaned. And inspect the chains before use. but overall, it is amazing tool for how much and how little it is.
- 6

I wonder if you can get a new chain
- 0

@TimApple: yes - https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-160mm-6-pruning-chains…
but better to learn to sharpen the teeth using a round file
great little hand saw - I've got the equivalent Ryobi as well and the Ozito is my go to for all sorts of tree climbing adventures
- 2

Loosen the chain when putting it on the shelf too.
- 2

It’s not self oiling unlike larger chain saws where you just fill the oil reservoir, these come with a small oil bottle.
- 0

If you're cutting Yukkas you'll have to give this a good clean afterwards, they get messy. Oiling is done manually on this model, and I'm pretty sure, when I bought it last year, it didn't come with oil, however it does come with an empty oil plastic bottle for application (as seen in the pic above).

Sold out everywhere. Also went to Villawood and there's no stock left even though the site stated 12. I have submitted a correction to the website
- 1

I will return the one i bought for $78

Thank you for informing us

It's always good to be kept in the loop of other people's financials.
- 1

is the ferrex better or not???
- 0

I have had way more luck with Ozito myself. The Ferrex stuff I have had has broken quickly
- 5

Ferrex was terrible
Thanks for reminding me, need to take it back- 3

Got the Ferrex recip saw for $25 on clearance a few months ago, has nothing over the Ozito brushless especially when paired with Diablo blades
- 1

Go to Bunnings and try out the Ozito, the safety can only be pushed by two hands with the Aldi one
- 0

Have the Ozito already, much better unit
- 1

Had my Ferrex pole saw replaced twice under warranty.
The guy doing it is grumpy as $hit. Denied it the second time. Submitted a complaint.. Aldi support made him replace it.
They get worse year on year. The original Aldi Gardenline were the best. Then the Ferrex was a half ass version. Then the next gen had half the supports in the pivot head. The latest is basically a joke. I'd break that in 10mins.
Ryobi is also trash.
- 0

Why would you ever buy a Ferrex tool from a shop that stocks them once a year, and if you need to buy a different tool that uses the same ecosystem you can't?
- 5

Because I picked up most of my tools for half price or less, and I have never had to replace one. I did buy some also from Autobarn and the compressor died, they couldn't replace it so I got my 10 bucks back. No huge loss. I also got the batteries at half price or more, 20 bucks for 4ah, and they have a percentage readout rather than just 3 lights like the ozito
- 1

Thanks. Been waiting for these to drop in price.
- 3

Was about $150ish
Was $129
- 3

Axe and machete more fun.
- 0

This is a great price!
- 1

Just bought it at full RRP last week. Those bastards!

Buy again and return with the old receipt

Is it worth getting if I own a brushless reciprocating saw?
- 0

I use this for yard work much lighter, I use the recip for cutting up large boxes, demolition/shortening stuff so it can fit in the bin
- 1

Is there much difference between a brushless recipro vs brushed recipro in terms of performance? Trying to figure out if it’s worth shelling out a bit more to go with a brushless recipro…
- 0

Brushless motors generate more torque and less heat, are quieter, more responsive and last longer
- 3

Have had both, would probably say worth it for the brushless. Though slightly dependent on what you are doing, cutting up boxes doesn't really require brushless
- 2

@Charybdia: To be fair probably quicker to use a box cutter to cut up boxes. Reciprocating saws are pretty slow.
- -1

Is there much difference between a brushless recipro vs brushed recipro in terms of performance?
Yes, significantly so.
The brushed one has nowhere near the power of the brushless. If you dont push it hard the brushed is passable but expect it to stall or struggle when things get on the harder side. (I've used both)
- 1

I'm sticking with the recip cos I can't be bothered having to also pick up oil and maintain this.
Can buy long capable recip blades for this price. Or this is a fair chunk of the way towards a normal size chainsaw if i needed one which definitely could do stuff the recip couldn't.- 7

No oil on this. I have brushless recip and go to this mini chain saw 100% of the time now for anything tree. Very easy to clean too
- -5

You might want to read the instructions. It even comes with an oil bottle…
- 6

@team teri: I think Wombatstew meant to say no oil compartment. Oil to be applied directly on to the chain
- 0

SA power networks are only issued recips to cut branches around power lines. I watched the guy battling away for about an hour. Heard some cursing as he broke and replaced another blade.
Went out and gave him my chainsaw (dual 18v battery brushless ozito)… He was delighted…knocked it off in minutes.
Talking thigh thick stuff… Poor bugger.
- 0

Talking thigh thick stuff…
Yeah don't think this product one would cut the mustard either in that case :P
- 2

Not if you don't need it that often. These are easier to hold than a reciprocating saw. They are great if you live on bushy land and have branches that fall down a lot. However, if you only need it now and then, it’s better to avoid the trouble of dealing with chain oil and changing the chain as required.
- 1

Depends how much pruning you need to do, the chain saw cuts quicker but the reciprocal saw cuts cleaner.
- 2

Very inexpensive home defense.
Just be sure the home invader is standing away from nice carpet at the time- 17

Just wait a moment, while I insert the battery.
Now let me see, get me glasses, where is that trigger?- 1

No, have it on the bedside table with battery ready to go.
Next to your splatter apron and googles- 8

where is that trigger
Nice swerve.
- 1

That's dark humour right there
- 1

Plot twist. He's not talking about the pruning saw.
- 0

I prefer pots of boiling water. The same as Pam.
- 1

See the clown boss in dead rising.
- 0

I have one of these next to the bed. The POS wont see a thing after a flash for minutes after that, unless it's wearing welding glasses!!
- 2

unless it's wearing welding glasses
Are you being frequently attacked by animals or inanimate objects? Have you talked to your therapist?
- 1

amatures… I have a super soaker filled w/ an acid and capsaicin. It won't kill, but you better run for both alkaline water and medical treatment.
My range: 25m
Your range: 1.5m- -1

Do I need this if I have a brushless reciprocating saw? I'm new to having a garden to look after
- 1

I prefer this over the saw. Cuts faster and smoother. Even branches as thick as a 375ml can.
- 4

Could I get away with using the reciprocating saw for the odd solid tree branch chop?
- 0

I agree with Chop Diamond - I have both and find the chainsaw much nicer to use. You may have luck with the recip saw but the chainsaw can go through much thicker branches much more easily.
- 0

i have a Milwaukee sawzall too, but reciprocating motion doesn't work very well on flexible, small stuff, especially fresh grow weeds. but works wonder on thick trunk that doesnt gets vibrate easily. where as a chainsaw always gonna work on all of them, but way more dangerous, and more things to watchout.
- 0

I think they overlap but also are good for different things too. Recip for demolition, chopping up things like curtain rods, steel, long bits of wood to put in the bin, mini chainsaw for yard work
- 2

Recip shines cutting pvc pipe too, agree that mini chainsaw is absolutely better for yard work
- 2

Yeah I generally turn to recip for anything not organic, otherwise mini chainsaw
- 0

The brushless recip saw with kango tree blade has been ace for me tbh
- 5

I use Diablo
- 2

Yeah likewise, got a big diablo set of blades about a year ago, barely through the first one. So durable.
- 1

What is the cheapest option to get the battery/charger for this if you don't have this system?
- 1

it's $24.xx
- 2

Boo, back to the 3 pack 4aH ones for a better bang for buck
- 0

Out of stock but the same looking product is available at $70 :(
- 1

They have heaps of deals on charger kits or multi 4ah packs
- 0

where? couldn't spot any on the bunnings website
- 1

Purchased one of these while ago to go with my 4ah battery kit. They saw is a beast. Can cut through wrist size thickness branches with ease. Can even cut though a forearm size branch with a little more effort. Probably lasts 100 decent cuts with a 4ah battery
- 2

I took one camping last week and used it to cut up much thicker logs. Just got to go at one side at a time.
- 0

If I need to dissolve a forearm size branch, what would be the best way to go about it?
- 1

Same way you dissolve a thigh size branch
- 1

Just checking you squirt the bar oil into an oil reservoir and not directly on the blade/chains (reviews confusing - probably people who don't use chainsaws)? I own chainsaws; don't know if this operates the same way or not.
- 1

Manually on the chain/bar with this one.
- 6

That's actually a plus for me, as the only complaint I have about the 36V brushless chainsaw is that the bar oil reservoir leaks.
- 0

Onto the bar directly
- 2

I love Aldi. Thanks for keeping the bastards honest.
- 36

I wish there will be a longstanding competitor to Bunnings.
- 14

I wish Master would be respawned
- 2

Yep a long lasting one ☝️
- 1

Anyone got a full list of Ozito price match deals?
- 5

Bunnings, if you're listening, please, for the love of God, fix your God damn website.
- 24

isn't it supposed to be really slow?
- 1

not just slow, but makes you feel like it is being slow ON PURPOSE.
- 4

But have you heard of BUDDY AI?
- 17

It's so dreadful.
You swap to the app and it's really not much better.. Only the like lists and map functions are nice there I guess but even then I've gotten 'error loading' like what is going on?
I had websites in 2001 load faster on dial up after someone answered the phone and I had to reconnect first!!!
- 2

As their website is really slow, I use Google search for the item name and the word "Bunnings" to locate the item on their website. Way faster.
