Low Internet Users - Cheap nbn in Perth That's Not Trash?

So we're a family that doesn't game online, and would have - at most - one 1080p stream (with little else) running in the household.

I'm seriously considering going with Spintel 25/10 for $39/month for 6 months. Because anything from 50Mbps seems to skyrocket in price (like.. 50/10 might be $65/month, whereas 500/50 might be $75/month)

I've been hunting through plans from various providers, but it's all grouped by speed, so for someone who doesn't care about speed it's quite hard to trawl through looking for "slightly better" options.

Anyone advice for an NBN provider that isn't going to do lots of dropouts and is cheap? Or a faster option that doesn't cost an extra $30 per month? I feel like I might have missed something whilst hunting through plans..

Although we don't game, I know some providers route through Sydney etc, and I'm not sure if we'll feel the impact with general browsing or work VPN. Currently we're with Superloop and it's fine.

  • $85/month is cheap for 500/50. Currently with Neptune.

  • NBN wholesale cost is significant, on the low end you'll only save a few bucks between providers unless they're running below cost for a promo.

  • Any ideas on your monthly data consumption? Might be cheaper options with annual 4G/5G SIM cards.

  • One point, the NBN wholesale charge to the RSP's will be increasing soon. This MAY result in price increases for customers. Think about locking in any fixed 6 month deals before any potential increase.

  • Sorry but nothing below 500/50 is good value IMO, it's the bare minimum nowadays.. use the filters and sort on https://netbargains.com.au/ to see the market

    • Good link. That's your situation, but my situation is I don't want to spend an extra $30/mo for something that doesn't benefit me.

I can see amaysim at $50/6 months. I don't mind spending an extra $11/month I guess. The sting is much less. Not sure how amaysim are in Perth though..

  • 25/10 will suck for even 1080p.

    • On what do you base this? I don't believe it. Netflix streams low bitrate trash, it's not like disc bitrates. You'd probably be lucky to crack 10MBps streaming 1080p.

      Rubbish…

My folks have been on 25/10 for years and they stream all day…
