  • No stock in Sydney it seems

  • Or is it better to pay around same money and get Xiaoxin pad 11 from Ali instead?

    • You tell me

    • Most xiaoxin pads are being shipped with the global rom now days even the ones sold as cn rom are coming with global. Its a pita to try and update. I am regretting getting a xiaoxin pad

      • Oh really, so even description saying its CN rom will end up with just global instead?

        • Yep. Has happened for two ive bought from goldway store.

  • 4gb ram?

  • Emulation beast.

  • Any ideas on wall mounting this for home assistant? Looking for something which charges via POE.

    • You can get universal tablet wall mounts and you can get PoE to USB-C adapters. I've installed them in foyers as reception consoles.

      • I've read there are issues with keeping some of these tablets permanently hooked to a charger, leading to battery swelling. Any tips when hooking up a tablet as a HA console or the like?

        • Smart socket at the other end that turns on for three hours, once a week.

        • The Lenovo tabs have a battery protection setting that doesn't charge it to 100% and cycle charging in a certain way. I've had one of these on my wall running HA for 18mths powered all the time, no issues.

          • @pumpkins: How fast is the HA UI on these (web/fully kiosk/whatnot)?

            • @iDroid: Speed is perfectly fine in mine, running native app via WallPanel

        • I have battery protection on all devices now. It makes a huge difference.

Anecdotally, my Galaxy S24 FE's battery health is at 99% after more than a year as my daily driver, according to AccuBattery, because battery protection kicks in at 80%.

My Motorola G54 which receives only occasional use, and which is newer than the S24 FE, is down to 67% battery health because I would leave it charged to 100%. When I saw that, I turned battery protection on all my devices and just carry a battery pack now.

        • Who cares at this price point?

  • Do these get software updates?

  • People still buying 64 gigs tablet how about 32 gigs?

  • eMMC, ouch

  • Looking for a cheap light tablet for reading manga and comics - would this be a good option?

    • would be perfect imo

    • It might just be me but Lenovo screens have always been terrible. The screen colour shift when changing angles on my Lenovo Idea Tab Pro is horrible. To compare, my iPad pro or Samsung Tab S4 from 2018 both have much better screens.

My recommendation would be to go for used iPad mini or iPad Air M1 or comparable Samsung S series tabs - if you can find one in good condition.

    • I picked this up for the exact same reason and it works perfectly.

I’m currently working my way through the Invincible series.

  • Helio G85 + 4Gb RAM = This thing would chug. It's strictly single task, you can't have other apps in background. It has Android 16 as an update but that's it's last android version. That means this hardware is bottom of the barrel and nearing end of life. It's worth $50.

  • I've had one of these mounted on a wall running HA for 18mths, has been great. Used two of the circular wall mount stick on things, and a low profile ribbon 90deg usb-c cable so it's super minimal mount. Camera detection turns on the screen when you are nearby.

    • I have ordered one from Costco for HA wall display. Would you mind sharing the wall mount you mentioned above ?

      • Search for Rotatable Tablet Wall Mount Kit on AliExpress. I used two discs.

    • What is HA for?

      • Home Assistant. Monitor and control smart devices.

    • How did you configure it to use camera detection when you are nearby? Is it a built in thing or a separate app?

      • It's either in HA, or the WallPanel app I use to auto-boot and force kiosk mode. When no camera detection it defaults to black Screen with the time on a screensaver.

    • Do you have it mounted over a recessed outlet to power it? Otherwise, does the camera detection work well enough to give it a few days between charges?

      • I just drilled a hole through the wall, fridge cavity was on the other side so I could get the cord into the back of that area and plug in a USB power plug.

  • eMMC and a Helio…… G85. Yikes. She'll be slowwww.

    • And only 4GB of RAM. I'm not sure how poor Android 14 runs on just 4GB of RAM. This tablet is going to be slow.

It comes with a low range mobile CPU from 2020 and only 4GB of RAM.

This video review agrees that this tablet model is slow. You can't have multiple apps open or else it lags crazy most likely due to the measly 4GB of RAM, slow CPU and crapped up slow eMMC storage. Lack of RAM causes the operating system to start using the data storage as virtual RAM and in this case it's extremely slow eMMC storage technology which further makes the computer run even slower. This is awful.

I give this tablet computer a miss even at this price. I'm not going to suffer because of this. How this got 50 positive votes?. As in my opinion it's an awful tablet computer.

      • Depends what you want to use it for. As a Home Assistant display, perfect. As a movie watching device for planes, perfect. As a cheap tablet for a young kid circa 5-8yo playing ABC games and watching ABC kids, fine. As a daily multitasking main tablet computer - no way.

        • Yes no good for daily use multitasking as it just doesn't have enough RAM considering that it runs Android 14. The operating system itself takes up the majority of the RAM. You could only run one light resource app or game at a time and having nothing left open in the background.
