  • Thanks!

    • Hahaha, good bartering - mate 😀. I wonder how you're gonna spend that $14K. Might be a challenge if you are doing it alone.

I am still not convinced to fork out $14K upfront.

        • Awesome, good on ya mate! You found a way to manage that spend.

I still have to find my own way to spend couple of them for the first try.
I just bought 2 of the TCN Restaurant Good food gift card today with the black color background.
Hopefully I won't run into trouble as reported by @beesider below. Oops, corrected now.

    • You should actually be able to buy ten $200 and ten $100 cards each day. Maybe just try it with a single card first to be safe as one day they might decide to change the way they enforce the purchase limits.

    • If you do this regularly, get the AMEX Platinum edge. 3 points per dollar at woolies.

  • dang it, i need it today for the timezone deal :(

oh well, i will stock up on the tcn kids cards and wait for the next timezone deal

  • Am I able to use the cinema gift card for online booking?
The instruction only explains about how to use it in the cinema.

    • Physical TCN Cinema cards purchased at retailers can be exchanged online for a digital prepaid visa/master card that can be used online.

      • Very good to know, thank you!

        • Once you have the digital Cinema gift card, it can be used in-store or online at merchants categorised as Motion Picture Theatres (MCC 7832), subject to individual merchant acceptance.

For example, some people were running into issues directly using the digital TCN Cinema gift card on the HOYTS website a few months ago, because it appeared to be failing HOYTS' payment security checks. The only workaround at that time was adding the gift card to Apple Pay and then checking out on the HOYTS website using Apple Pay. I have no idea if these issues still persist on the HOYTS website.

You will likely have an easier time using it for online bookings at other cinemas, because merchants are usually not very picky about prepaid Mastercard gift cards on this website. However, this is something I have not tested myself for cinemas.

          • @WookieMonster: It should work now as TCN has now enabled 3DS on all prepaid cards by default.

  • Stay away from Good Food gift cards!

I bought 4 during the previous promotion. First card unexpectedly stopped working after I used it a couple of times. It worked and then just didn't. At first I thought it was because I'm using it at an "unsupported" restaurant. So it took me quite a while to come to realise that it's the card not working.

After raising a case with their support, they sent a replacement card in the mail which took about a month to arrive. They didn't tell me what actually happened with it.

Now it turns out 3 other cards from the same batch don't work either! I can't login, can't see the balance. The cards were not tampered! The pin code is intact. A new battle with support is coming up…

They haven't fixed the hacking issue.

    • Did you keep the paper slips from Woolies checkout and check they says "Activation was successful"?

Because it's very strange you can't even check the gift card balances online with the gift cards' details. To me it sounds like they didn't activate properly.

      • If they didn't activate properly, how come the 1st card worked for some time before becoming blocked? But I get your point, something went wrong somewhere.

I bought them in Coles and on the receipt there's no such line as "activation was successful".

        • It would be "Approved" for Coles.

          • @timedzone: Yes, the receipt shows "approved" for all of them.

            • @beesider: Then they should be activated. Did you check the balance on https://register.card.gift/ ? You can skip registration and go straight to the balance

              • @timedzone: After the cards became "hacked", I couldn't view the balance anymore. It worked at first for the 1st card but then about a week or two later stopped.

                • @beesider: The good thing is TCN admitted this issue and sent me replacement cards.
For the 1st card they posted me a physical card. For the remaining 3 cards in a follow-up case they sent the digital ones.

  • Wish these deals would include variable load cards
