[NSW] 20% off Personalised & Custom Number Plates Order Fee @ Myplates

390
S265MATE

The usual Myplate’s Mates Rates deal is back. 20% off.

Credit for previous deals poster for the title and description. These days, car dealerships often stamp their name on new plates, so unless you specifically ask them not to, you will need to buy a new one to get rid of it. Might as well restyle it using these twice-yearly codes.

I haven't seen it advertised yet, but I just put the pieces together from last few years codes and used it this morning successfully.

  • Sewms likes aussies wanna flaunt at a discount

    • Naaaaa, aussies want value. And this isnt it.

      • Not an aussie then

        • You don’t want value in your bargains?

          • @Eeples: Not while a plate on my Chinese ev

  • “car dealerships often stamp their name on new plates”
That is pretty bad, use to be just the number plate frames, which you can easily remove.

    • It’s Very Bad that a government agency can be so commercialised and makes money out from taxpayers. Just because car dealers pay them few bucks, they can market their company names on the car that you own. This is the MAIN reason I do not get a Novated Lease vehicle; everybody knows you are leasing a car with the NL company logo on your number plate.

      • you can opt out you know…

        • Do they let you know upfront that they intend to put their company brand on the number plate?

      • Who cares if people know you're leasing? what an odd thing to be worried about.

additionally, the money raised from customised plates in NSW goes to road safety initiatives and road upgrades.

        • Help with road upgrades? paying for tolls everywhere in NSW. There is no toll in SA.

      • Which NL company? None for Fleet Partners

      • This is factually incorrect.

I have just taken delivery of a vehicle on a Novated Lease & there is nothing different to any previous new car I have purchased outright.

    • I put a clause in my contract that states no advertising on or in the vehicle. Dealership can opt in by placing advertising (dealership name) but have to pay a ridiculously exorbitant weekly fee. My car is always advertising free.

  • Hmm pay my Rego or pay for new plates? Decisions..

    • Hey you need rego only to drive on the roads, if you can't afford fuel you can't drive on the roads anyway, solved it for you

  • Myplates sux. Used to have the cheaper option of keeping the standard format of 3-letters, 2-numbers and 1-letter, but you can alter them and you only have to pay one-off payment. Now every option has an annual fee. No deal.

    • Restyle existing plates is still only a once off fee, but they all cost a lot more than they used to!

    • Fortunately custom plate fees in Victoria are currently one-off.

Was shocked to learn that NSW charges an ongoing fee…. For what?

      • Greed.

    • OzBargain taken.

      No deal.

    • Yes I looked for the first time last year at personalised plates in NSW and was shocked that you had to pay a yearly fee on top of the already high costs of the plate’s themselves. Needless to say I did not proceed and as a true OzBargainer, just kept the plates the dealer put on.

BTW looking at the purchase contract on the car, the dealer already charged me for the black and white ‘premium’ plates they put on it. I hope there isn’t an ongoing yearly fee for that! 🥺

  • its still a rip off

    • But "OZBGN" is so much better than "02894".

  • With the price of running a vehicle, I am amazed that people voluntarily make it more expensive. People are just weird.

    • I wonder about decision making behind people driving Haval or Mahindra with custom plates

"we couldn't get a better car but let's splirge on a fancy plate"

    • What's even stranger is seeing a completely butchered custom plate like DR1FTAH.

You can almost picture the moment they asked for DRIFTER… got told it was unavailable, then instead of moving on or thinking of something better, decided spending money on a mangled version was still a great idea.

  • Meh. Poor people use discount codes
    https://vplates.com.au/-/media/project/vicroads/plates/herit…

Why not drop a cool $130k on the plates alone?

    • Meh. I wouldn't dare be seen with as a peasant with four digit plate.

Why not drop a cool $11.5m on a single digit plate?

      • Imagine being so cheap you can only afford a single digit…

    • I reckon there's something suss going on with the Victorian plates market. Some of the [number][number][letter] combos now fetch 5 figures… There are 2340-2600 permutations available if anyone's desperate enough to get one from VicRoads without resorting to the secondary market. Now they're also offering only 7-figure numeric plates, talk about profiteering.

  • These days, car dealerships often stamp their name on new plates, so unless you specifically ask them not to, you will need to buy a new one to get rid of it.

Not only that, you're being charged MORE for these plates than the standard black/yellow ones in NSW

    • Custom Yellow is the most elite style

Pay more money for a different shade of yellow

  • When we initially moved to nsw last year I found the black and yellow plates somehow cool. So I got my car some of these. Now I'm thinking of going to the slim plates.

Do people think these black and yellow plates are somewhat cheap looking? Or what's the general consensus?

    • The yellow looks ridiculous on almost every coloured car except black.

Even on other yellow cars it'll usually stand out as the wrong shade.

  • Basically the only cars with black and yellow plates are cop cars.

  • RIPOFF, another subscription service you can do without.

  • Did someone in marketing buggered up, these discounts are generally released around mothers and fathers day.

    • Some time to go before Father's Day.

  • If you can, get a QLD licence and buy a plate instead paying annually in NSW.

  • Do these apply to restyle plates as well?
I'm on the last page for payment and there is no code field to put the coupon code.

    • would also like to know?

  • Do we have any idea when this expires?

    • According to the post expiry, 12th of May.

      • yea just odd as they aint advertising it themselves

    • Straight up, I made the expiry date up as I have no idea. So don't rely on that.

  • R4NGE OR R4GE

    • FRDRGR

Or cheaper to buy a Ranger and cross the appropriate letters. Rage or anger

  • Excuse me?

    me want now

  • I just got my deepal s07 for $47k with heaps of extras but the dealer fitted the NSW slimline plate and theres 2 holes on the rear. What can I buy to cover those holes neatly?

    Photo: https://media.drive.com.au/obj/tx_q:50,rs:auto:1920:1080:1/d…

    Thanks

    • That's disgusting.

You will probably need a mounting bracket. None of our plates go that high.

Imo try get a number plate cover, it might make it look easier, but man, the rear end of that car is never gonna look nice.

    • That looks like it's for Chinese license plates. https://www.whichcar.com.au/news/new-mullet-plates-roll-out-…

    • Your best bet is going for the tallest plates which would be either the international/US or JDM plates.

  • Does VIC ever get this? Just paid $750+ for slim line plates

  • I have been looking at getting a second set of custom plates (in Vic). I wanted to assign my current custom plates but it was going to cost something like $150 for a 'reassignment fee'.

The cost for me to get a brand new set of regular plates, including assignment to my car was something like $40… So I just did that.

The cost for custom plates in Vic has increased so much over the last few years that I'm surprised anyone ever buys them.

$645 plus $130 for slim plates for a total of $775.
Plus $150 if you get a new car for someone to literally change your plate in their system.

    Utterly a rort.

    • At leaat you don't have to pay a yearly fee like I do in NSW. Proper rort up here.

      • I think in the US, most places are a yearly fee but they pay almost nothing for the actual plates upfront. We get stooged.

      • No one's putting a gun to my head to pay a $500 yearly custom content fee in NSW though. Only my own stupidity.

I tell my wife maybe, like bitcoin, one day the plate will appreciate and be worth megabucks

  • get ya w@anker plates on the cheap

  • Speed!

  • Nowhere to enter code?

    • did you find out? I couldn't see it either

      • Go through checkout and in the fourth step 'Payment Details', there's a box to enter your promo code.

        • Thanks found it (turned off vpn) a promo code box appears above the payment details after you click

  • Can this be used for annual fees for existing customised plates?

    • No only style fee

  • when does this promo end?

  • The promo has now officially launched using promo code S265MATE ends 11/6/26

  • Literally messaged their support not even 2 weeks ago and they said it wasn't coming back anytime soon…
