  • I know this is direct from the Amazon listing but "Pure gaming performance with smooth 100+ FPS in the world's most popular games" is very misleading. This CPU needs to be paired with a GPU and that has much more influence on frame rate. There's not even an asterix to say in what games or resolutions.

    • Solitaire and Minesweeper…. must be close to 10000+ FPS.

    • Cs 2 and minecraft and starcraft and wow are the world's most popular games, they're not lying

      • That's pretty outdated… Minecraft is still up there but Roblox, Valorant, League and Fortnite are all significantly more popular than CS2, WoW and Starcraft…

        • Which are also all pretty CPU constrained for FPS too right?

And WoW has many more concurrent monthly players than Valorant.

          • @CharlieAus: Correct, I understand your point.

Where are you get that? While WoW's numbers are really good for a subscription game, that's simply not true, do a quick search.

    • Considering Minecraft is probably the worlds most popular game, it's not too misleading ;-)

    • Came here to say the same. FPS is the absolute least relevant thing they could have used to sell this thing. Yes if you have a celeron 200 with a 5090ti you'll have low FPS but for most modern gen CPUs, its 95% on the GPU

    • lol don’t quote me on that. Copy and pasted from amazon.

    • This is partially true. Cpu plays a massive part in FPS. If you are trying to achieve 144Hz, 240Hz, or higher, you need a very fast CPU to prepare those frames, regardless of your GPU. Also helps with 1% lows and stutters.

    • I was gonna say the same, it's like marketing a spark plug saying "pure ICE performance with speeds of up to 300km/h on major roads"

    • By that logic they also need to add that it must be paired with a monitor that supports that lol

  • League of legends maybe.

  • this or 7800x3d

    • Depends on your budget. 10-20 fps gain with the 7800x3d with about the same gains on 1% lows. This is a great budget build cpu if you are price conscious.

      • You'll only get those gains (or any gains) if you are CPU limited.

Most people wouldn't be with a CPU like this.

    • Do you wanna spent $240 or $514

      • Could get 7800x3d for $350 on Ali express when on sale

    • 7500f from aliexpress

      • 7800X3D is also AM5. I think you mean 5700X3D or 5500X3D /5800X3D for AM4.

      • lol.

  • Use the money saved from buying this rather than X3D version towards more to GPU, generally speaking especially for single player game

  • hoping for 5950x < $400.

  • It was down at $230 yesterday, I managed to get one more as a spare. It wouldn't let me buy 2!
Get'm while their as cheap as chips! XD

    • If this chip is as "cheap as chips", how cheap is a chip?

  • Was a temping upgrade from AM4 but once I factored in ridiculous DDR5 prices and a decent mobo I’ll just keep saving for Zen 6.
