Consensus from that video is its okay but better off buying something else
- 12

Video seems to indicate cam isn't 4K but the Amazon listing says it is, is the video perhaps a different model? Could make all the difference as to footage quality.

BASED ON THE REVIEW VIDEO …..
No LCD on the back so cannot aim it easily
No GPS hence no time and location tracking.
Low resolution sensor produces sub-standard video quality and has trouble reading number plates of cars even closeby
No suction mount. Must be glued to screen so cant be relocated or moved to another vehicle easily
Power adapter only has one USB port so cant charge or run another deviceAll this makes this a usless dashcam.
I wouldnt buy it for any price
(My Navman MiVue 730 is much better!)

We have been using an older version in two cars for the past 2 years. Excellent quality & value for money. Purchased them from Aliexpress for pretty much the same price.
- 2

Good price. I bought it last week for the $75 deal. Should have waited! Haven't installed yet.
- 0

I think the far more important thing is installing it rather than worrying about saving $7
- 7

New car not delivered until next week, so for now I have no option other than to worry about the $7.
- 15

How do you go about installing these? Is it easy?
- 1

there are ideos on youtube for specific cars as well, will be doing one soon
- 0

Can this run on powerbank?
- 0

Should be able to. My 70mai dual cam has no issue draining the 10000 mw powerbank I attach to it.
- 1

interesting. and then how is the powerbank being charged ?
- 1

For mine, I have a zmi 25000mah powerbank that is fast charging at 100w from a 12v port. Works well
- 1

@DangerNoodle: So the powerbank is always plugged-in to the 12v port of the vehicle ? Is the port powered even if the engine is off ?
- 0

@deck_oz: For my car, port switches off and the camera then runs off the powerbank instead of passthrough charging. If I've been driving long enough to fully charged the battery via 100w charging, it's usually good for up to 16 hours of footage.
You can get a hardwire kit instead to run off your car battery, powerbank is just more portable and replaceable and doesn't sap the battery dry.
There are dedicated powerbanks from companies like Blackvue that you can hardwire in for always on charging with voltage cut offs. Depends on what you need.

How long does this last for in your current setup?
- 0

Generally about 4 - 6 hours. I only use the powerbank when the car is parked somewhere. Otherwise the dashcam is connected to the cigar lighter under normal running condition. Would charge the powerbank at home when it is low enough.

Can anyone smart comment on if I can use this as a rear dash cam in conjunction with the Viofo A129 which I already have facing forward?
- 0

Yes, as separately.

What is ozbargains favourite when it comes to dash cam?
- 1

Anything VIOFO

Can anyone recommend a cheap 360 deg camera that support wireless upload. I’ve got uber riders and uber drivers coming at my car from all angles!
- 0

Don't worry, they'll soon be doctors and engineers
- 0

I would NOT buy this in AUS because this model uses "Lithium Ion" battery!
I have an older 70mai that uses battery and it shuts down when it gets hot even around 30c days
Only get super capacitor dashcams in AUS unless you live in colder areas like TAS
- 11

Are you worried about fire? or massive battery degradation due to high temps?
- 0

I didn't have this specific model but my first dash cam had a lithium battery and after a summer in Brisbane the battery bulged and the camera stopped working.
- 0

I am not surprised. Some cars will get up to 60 degrees while parked outside. Li batteries are weak when it comes to extreme heat.
- 0

@Naigrabzo It shuts down and doesn't record when it's hot bro, so it's paperweight in summer!!!
- 0

I have had 4 70mai cameras with batteries, one of which was from their Indiegogo campaigns and was advertised with supercapacitator. They don't seem to survive Australian heat very well. Usually the temperature causes them to not start recording, had a couple where the batteries failed and another one where the microphone failed.
YMMV. Had issues with a redtiger camera where the housing cracked, assuming it's from the heat as well.
Currently using ddpai cameras, they have been fine.

My suspicion is that these companies are not even trying. They are just getting cheapest plastic shell around their cheapest circuit and selling it as quickly as possible.
Then you hire a youtuber who will gladly take $500 for a review while wearing stupid yellow shirt. Thusly.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfaKhYZUE-w
Then wait for profits to come in.
What you really want to be, is the youtuber, who knows the truth but just pockets the money. When his camera breaks, he has plenty others from other companies to substitute and carry one.

I purchased one of these some time ago, please don't waste your money, useless product.

Please explain
- 0

OK Pauline
The one I purchased only had instructions in Chinese, you have to navigate the system using a single button click that's very frustrating IMO, it also had voice commands in mandarin that I couldn't find a way to change, I was overall disappointed with the device considering what I paid for it. I eventually gave up, and now it's sitting in storage.
- 0

I just bought one and it comes with english instructions and has it set up in less than 5 mins. you can check english manuals online easily or just use google translate with camera tbh

@viper8548: This was some time ago, it's most likely a different model I have, I might pop it on gumtree for $10.00.

The higher end models are on sale too. Ordered an A800SE. I've had the A800S 2ch for a couple of years and it's been great! Even better than my Blakvue camera - interface is better, less laggy, phone app is 1000* better than Blackvue's one too. Ordered an A800SE to go in my new car with parking mode module.
