This looks like all time low of a model popular here so nice find for your first post!
Thanks! Sheer luck, our v7 burnt out yesterday so we had to replace it. Good too finally contribute to everyones spending habits!
Sorry for your loss.
Never seen one burn out?
Sure it's not the super common trigger break (3 for $2 on Ali Express)?
Ebins are full of working Dyson's.
been using my dyson v6 for about 8-10 years, replaced its battery. still going strong.
I don't use it as my main vacuum though, thats:
https://www.bunnings.com.au/pullman-advanced-commander-pv900…
(mine came in the blue colour)
Mainly for a quick living room daily swipe sort of thing
@AS1253: If you are in SA, I can give you a V6 main body/ unit. I clean em up and give em away (save landfill).
@tunzafun001: I'm still using a DC58 (Same as V6). Recently I converted it to use a power tool battery, so no more dead battery problems!
@bleemo: This is the way. 4Ah or more drill batteries use two rows of cells at least. Dyson uses a single row of cells. It Cannot deliver the current for the max setting for long at all. A drill battery can.
How they never got hit with a "not fit for purpose" is a mystery. I think that's why he was knighted… "Never looses suction…ever"… Yet is borderline useless with a handful of dust inside.
Sir Dodgey Dyson…. Take a bow!
That sucks
No stock near perf
Discount code won’t be eligible for price matching!!
Oos
Good options in NSW. Not so good for VIC/QLD/WA/SA.
How?
It auto applied my employee discount
Reviews are shite on Big W?
mostly battery issues and pricing which you can find by adding on a drill battery and for 275 not a bad deal
which drill battery works with it? Does it just swap in??
I think you can get an adaptor for most brands . We got the Ozito adaptor from Ali for around $12 and it's never worked better .
Dsng got it for $450, 5 years ago, should have waited
hahahaha
refund it and get this LOL!
You can post it as a deal
What is special about it?
yea but people will think you are poor
How available do you think parts will be in a few years?
We've got a Dyson V6 and blown away how easy it still is to get parts (genuine and aftermarket).
parts, even the companies disappear eg Xpeng's AU distributer went into administration thereby putting warranty of car owners in a limbo.
You NEED parts? Already?
My two year warranty expired over eight years ago unfortunately. Have replaced the fluffy brush bar once and ordered a new cyclone top because it was too hard to clean internally. Gone through a few batteries as well.
There's something wrong with yours. The V6 is supposed to suck, not blow.
The dreame z20 runs circles around this dyson, currently $329 at JB with $30 off $300 spend
dont have experience with z20, but this v8 is no better than a $120 Lubleulu I also have.
Do you mind sharing in which ways? Runtime, suction etc.
Or Dreame R20 for $184 in Every Market last week (now OOS), which seems to have great reviews. Highlights: 190AW suction, 90m run time, dirt-sensing boost, floor light, lots of bundled accessories. Is there a single area this Dyson is better at?
Yeah I'm completely off the dyson train now, competitors have fully caught up tech wise. I like the dreame z20 because it looks nice and premium
Highly suggest aftermarket telescopic tube
been using it for 4 years and it runs well
why?
Takes less space when you chuck it into closet
If you get a good one, it's also lighter
Is this good to use as a dedicated car vacuum for 2 SUVs? Thanks
Depends on your cycle.
Weekly clean? Yep, perfect. Get the stiff brush and the extension tube.
Six-monthly toyota clean with kids and dogs? You’ll need a real vac.
Dyson Car+Boat handheld vacuum (similar power as the V8) is designed for that purpose and would cost you less https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/156687578611
No stock or postage to SEQ
I always found it weird that British people say "Hoover" instead of "vacuum". Would they say "I bought a Dyson Hoover" ?
I've heard women here say "I bought a Dyson" referring to the Airwrap
It’s actually called a Dancing Arab
"Dyson Hoover" - yup, probably. It's no different to the Aussies saying, Doona, Gerni or Esky - it's just the dominant brand name
Except we wouldnt say a doona blanket or an esky cooler.
Being from WA I had never heard of a Gurni until I went to Queensland . Doona and eski are ubiquitous here .
rip for people who’s sleeping right now ;(
Doesn't appear to be any stock in SEQ.
Managed to get stock in Hervey Bay - can make the father-in-law pick something up for us for once!
Thank you OP, got one at Mount Hutton CAC. Question about the 3d printed part for power tool battery, where would you source one from for this model ?
Thanks OP. Ordered one from Tuggerah NSW. $274 includes delivery.
Dyson V8 Absolute Cordless Vacuum was $249 during end of last year sales at Kmart. Maybe mid year sales this year again? Absolute comes with a lot more accessories. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/942555
The one that lasted 5 minutes before OOS 😂
Bought a Dyson V8 Absolute in 2021 for a "good deal" of $549 and it is still going strong. Interesting to note that Gemini states this current model has the same suction power and run time as my five year old model. At this price, it is a great deal!
I've still got a DC59 from Masters. I've disassembled it to do a deep clean a few times but it just keeps going. They are so good that I just camp fbm for people upgrading and just get their old units.
Had a DC59 Animal and a V8 before. DC59 is superior, possibly better than most of new high-end Dysons IMO.
Dc35! Purchased in 2013 for $298…
Bit conflicted with this Dyson… is it worth the price or nah?
Some comments state other products are better for a similar price…
Yes and no. Generics are basically as good.
Dyson uses better cells, but then deliberately left off cell balancing so it dies faster.
I've picked up maybe 10 now from Hard Rubbish. 7 just needed hair removed/ clean. 2 had the well known trigger break ($2 fix), one had a dead battery pack (there is a rom flash out there to fix that called FUDyson). If you find it has a short run time (especially on max…90% will as Dyson didn't put in balancing), Rom flash will over ride that.
Summary,. Grab a hard rubbish unit.
Thanks!
Just to confirm hard rubbish, is when people put their stuff out for council collection?
Yes. Another person's trash and an Ozbargains Treasure
Where do you go dumpster diving? Your mum approves of your life choices, driving around in a white van during the night, sifting through kerbside rubbish? Do you leave the rubbish at least neat and proper after rummaging through it?
I imagine if you track various council hard rubbish days, you can go visit a couple days before the day to take a look around.
Nah… they are everywhere. I certainly don't go looking for them.
I do ride my bike for most trips (golf, shops, beachies, school pick up etc etc). So probs see more than most.
Bonus- Still on the same tank of fuel since the "war" started. Zero F's about fuel price/ Shortage.
But anyway, they are basically everywhere… if there is a pile at the front…fair chance there is a Dyson in it!
This is really interesting thanks for the info.
Can you flash the Rom only on the oem battery or can you do it on aftermarkets as well?
The ROM flash is for the factory Dyson BMS.
The battery cells in Dyson pack are pretty good (the "dead" battery packs I have still have around 97% capacity).
You could take those cells and put them in an aftermarket pack.
Ha, they have changed the name. But yes, that's it.
I posted a link on Facebook to the original FU Dyson on GitHub (just helping on a buy nothing group)… Facebook banned me for life citing cyber terrorism!
Ali Express sell the programmers cheap as a bundle item ($6 off memory).
great deal, thanks for posting OP
Thanks picked mine up this morning.
FYI this is also avail at Big W for $299 https://www.bigw.com.au/product/dyson-v8-origin-stick-vacuum… and I managed to get JB to price match to 299 via chat.
Do they check if stock is available in BigW before price matching?
Not really, Online is pretty chill compared to in-store, I find. Sometimes in person will check stock or even factor in "delivery cost" if it's online only.
they stopped price matching due to low stock, this was at 11.30 AM
no $25 discount though
jb currently has $30 off for spend over 300 for perks members, just sign up.
Dyson price matches! with free delivery too
Correct me if i’m wrong but Don’t think they’ll price match if no stock is available on Big W website.
I'm not sure about that but i got it price matched when it was in stock.
They may. Contact both Dyson and JB via chat. They may agree to match $299. You may use JB $30 coupon with $300 spent by adding something cheap.
No stock anywhere……….
We have 3 of these. Bought one and found the others in hard rubbish.
People are dumb, throw them out when they only need a new battery.
If you have any 18v tools it's easy to get the battery adapter's and they work like new.
But this is a very good price if you'd prefer one without someone else's skin and hair.
Perks of living in a rich country. Dumpster diving to get $300 vacuum cleaners for free with an Aliexpress battery for $20 making it work as new.
the aftermarket batteries only last about 1-2 months
Power tool battery conversion is much better!
I got some Ozzito tools battery, but no idea if I can use it for my dyson and how?
Will appreciate if you can share any link to show how this can be done.
@hothot: AliExpress / Amazon / eBay sell the adaptor for $10-$20 . I have Ozito batteries and it has never worked better .
You can't use the wall charger but tool batteries charge way faster and last longer .
does anyone else hate their Dyson, I have two. I hate them both. lol.
Got JB to price match in-store and extra $30 off with JB Perks over $300. $270 all up, not bad!
They were okay to price match even though its OOS?
Surprisingly, no issue as it was still in stock with some regional stores in VIC.
Use code SAVE25 to take another $25 off.
BTW, check out is showing free delivery for me.
