Far out Xbox confuses me with their tiers. This 'starter' is just xbox 'essential' with a 10 hour addition for cloud streaming and other discount crap that no one should use as it can be found cheaper through ozb.
The press release (thanks @evilgenious448) states that 'Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also receive Discord Nitro benefit'. It doesnt state what tier or when.
Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but jeebus they could at least get a press release right once in a while…
About as confusing as their console naming conventions.

I was hoping to come back and say "buy a 3 month trial of Discord Nitro, get Game Pass basic, and then upgrade" but it doesn't seem to let you convert the GP Starter tier into a higher paying option, no upgrade path :'(
Long gone are the days of 60 per year for PS+ / XBL Gold being the most I'd pay, guess I'll stick to not paying lol

Take note Xbox Game Pass is only available on Nitro subscroption, not Nitro Basic subscription.
idk what Nitro Basic would be, I don't use Discord…but I signed up with a 3 month trial of Nitro, which cost around $1.80 AUD, so I have to assume it's not the basic one then, but idk, maybe it is. Either way, there's no Xbox tab or section or anything, which is a bit poo poo :'(
Hoped this would be the case, Australia must just be a day or so behind, it's there now.
So I now apparently have Game Pass on my Xbox account. I'll try later when I have time, but I mostly joined up in the hopes that I could stream the compatible games I own with the 10 hours of streaming included. I have a lot of Android emulator consoles and streaming off xCloud is pretty sweet, but not sweet enough to pay their monthly fee considering I'd maybe use it an hour a month or so max.
It didn't seem to link my accounts together in any real way, I clicked a link in Discord, it took me to xbox.com, and then it said I had Game Pass now. Ideally you can do this more than once, bc at ~60 cents per month (with the 3 month $1.80 code from Eneba), I'd keep XBL Gold just for the odd time I might stream a game on the John.

I booted up Tony Hawk 3+4, which I own and is not included in the basic GP library, via streaming and it worked fine. I tried to boot Lego Marvel, again, I own it and it's not in Game Pass (though THPS is part of the Ultimate library, and thus may get some sort of priority for streaming), it took a couple of minutes to actually load up though.
But the basic tier definitely does include 10 hours of streaming of games you own, not just what's on the Game Pass catalogue. So honestly, for 60 cents a month, I reckon I'll get enough value out of it. Shame they don't have a year long option at those rates tho lol
