  • Even better high yield investment vehicle now.

    • Not as high yield of an investment as a BMW 320i though.

      • mercedes c200 and audi a3 110 tfsi - allow us to introduce ourselves

we have a combined 1.8 litres three turbos and 2.5 cylinders

  • Prepare an arm and a leg for repair down the line.

    • your not doing it right if you don't trade before the warranty is up

  • $3k saving on Drive Away Price of a Q6 etron SB of $110,763.99

  • No idea why these cars are so expensive

    They arent overly reliable

They arent overly nice to look out bar a few models

    Expensive to maintain

The vast majority arent even made in Europe

I rip into Chinese shit boxes a fair bit but Audi charge similar to BMW with slight better then MG reliability and if you ask me average design

I mean 9 out of 10 of the engines are just VW rebadged and ill copy and post this critical opinion against Porche and its SUV line up

    • "this critical opinion against Porsche"

Porsche do have their unique set of arsenals. For example, the 2.0T is a flat four, oppose a widely used inline 4 other VW family.

Though, agree, Porsche "SUV" are pedastrian.

      • i may not have worded that well i mean Porches SUVs they are essentially VWs with a nicer badge

things like the 911 etc are different and obviously nicer for a niche market

        • Drive a Cayenne/ Macan (petrol) v equivalent Audi and tell me how similar they are lol.

        • Have you actually test driven them? Or just spouting what you've heard. They drive and are tuned completely differently. And if you still can only see the "vw with a nicer badge" in the Porsche then you aren't the target market.

          • @perhaps: "vw with a nicer badge"

Yupe. Got given one as a courtesy vehicle when brought mine in for service.

Same engine and platform. A different "tune" won't set it apart. Far from a proper Porsche.

Taking the old ICE Macan as an example, if they are lazy enough to run VW engines (EA888, EA839), then what more can be said? Fine, they have retained the analogue clock. Most that bought their "Porsche" wouldn't know what's under the skin.

On vehicles that define their heritage, they continue the boxer engine. Despite the boxster base model scores a 2.0T, they have create a flat 4 instead of using the EA888. Of course, ones going for a proper Porsche is buying it because it is a Porsche.

            • @SetTheFaqUp: You got a base model courtesy car.

You don’t know anything about Porsches based on that.

              • @commandershephard: "You don’t know anything about Porsches based on that."

I don't. For such reason that I didn't bother with the Club Leather option.

The last service was an EV Macan. Not seen a 718 or 911 as courtesy car since COVID days.

  • These European manufacturers' "sales" are meaningless as they will adjust the "discount" amount.

Used to get "invites" to their "exclusive" sale events, but friends that went have always paid more at the event.

  • There's definitely room for a further discount, I cross-shopped between a GLE and Q7 - secured a deep discount from Audi. As expected, MB don't want to haggle…60k more than the Audi, both V6 diesels, both had air suspension sunroof etc… granted the MB is punchier.

    • " air suspension"

Mate recently replaced his GLE450, 40,000km. $5k parts and labour.

      • Yes, unfortunately, parts for European cars are expensive.

        • Reliability is shocking.

Suspension is one of the many things that went wrong.

      • Had air suspension in my old Fairlane many moons ago. Christ that thing was expensive to repair even back then.
TBH it kind of made me steer away from anything with air suspension since.

    • As expected, MB don't want to haggle

AFAIK Since January 2022, Mercedes-Benz Australia has adopted a direct-to-consumer sales strategy, where the manufacturer sets the price and dealers act as agents. So you won't be able to haggle on new cars, discounts would come from factory driven promos. Honda, Tesla and most recently BYD are similar.

  • audi, how are they even around?
The whole VW group of brands is strugging so hard.

    • Lambos would like a word

    • Porsche FAFO with the ev Macan lol. Terrible choice to mess with their bread n butter.

      • "mess with their bread n butter"

Imagine the carbon penalty without some "green" vehicles on the card. They have to make sure they sell it to the group that doesn't care whether it is a Porsche and buying it because of the badge.

No chance they can dress up an EV as a 911 and expect people to buy it. If anything, a new model with hyper car performance might sell (like the Ferrari).
