  • Refreshingly light phone. Battery life not too bad considering the size. Same 200MP primary sensor as the Ultra, just slightly difference lens - similar pros and cons, less zoom. Just got One UI 8.5 update - took a while, but it is slick.

    • How is the battery life after One UI 8.5 update?

      • Still early days - as it only hit earlier this week for me. Haven't noticed any extra drain - maybe slight improvement. I only charge to 80% and it easily gets me through the day. AccuBattery reports an extrapolated average SOT of 10h 36m and combined use of 35h 3m on a 100% charge. I do not game, however. Screen res and refresh rate set to maximum.

        • Battery life isn't any issue for me as I have wireless chargers at home, in car and at work.
But just contemplating this or S25+ from Samsung Education store for $920 (Gross Price $1,019, reduces to $920 with 5% off first purchase and $100 voucher from chat).

          • @OZBsince2018: Between the two, it really only boils down to:

            S25E

            Pros

            • Slim / light
            • Titanium frame
            • 200MP primary sensor

            Cons

            • Smaller battery
            • Lacks telephoto sensor

            S25+

            Pros

            • Larger battery
            • Faster wired charging
            • Has telephoto sensor

            Cons

            • Heavier / thicker
            • 50MP primary sensor (still not bad)

Other than these, the specs between the two are pretty much identical. Which do you value more?

          • @OZBsince2018: Purchased S25+ 256GB for $919 at JBHIFI
Sales rep price matched Telstra out-right price of $949.
At the counter, $30 JBHIFI perks coupoun is used.

            • @Ouffer serffer: Great. But I guess that Telstra deal is expired now, so I will have to buy it from Samsung Education store.

    • Saw the update to 8.5 and just manually checked on my S25 regular….yep getting it downloaded now.

I wanted a lighter phone, carrying it during road runs and coming from Samsung A73. and did consider the Edge.
But I find that I use the telephoto lens often.
So glad I went with the S25 for a similar weight.

I think no matter what people will be carrying a power bank of some size these days, so charging as required depending on use.
Im more concerned about the battery degradation since I keep my phone's longer

      • S25 is a good choice vs an S25E, but you do miss out on screen size and resolution, if that matters to you. Battery size is pretty much the same.

  • Roughly what I paid for it on release. Nice phone but battery is a disaster

    • It kind of defeats the purpose of a light phone, but on days when you know you'll be out and about for a long time with heavy use, I'd recommend using a slim powerbank like the Xiaomi ultrathin (when deeply discounted, of course).

    • Battery is a disaster….wtf are you talking about? Owned it for 7 months and never once had it go close to running out.

  • I also have a 25 edge and this is my favourite phone I have owned. I have an S25 ultra and changed to this as I hated the bulky size of the ultra and was always worried I would lose the s pen that I never used. I have had no issues with battery. I recently went on a holiday to Japan and had no issues using the phone for hours each day taking photos and watching videos when on the train etc and the battery always had enough.

    • I'm tempted to downgrade from the S25U to the S25 Edge, I do value good battery but I have the size and weight of the Ultra, would have love if they did what Google did with their smaller Pro phones. I think the S25 and S26 standard is a good phone but not worth the money for the specs and camera they offer.

I will wait for the S27 series I think. But the edge looks very tempting.

  • This or S25+ from Samsung Education store for $920 (Gross Price $1,019, reduces to $920 with 5% off first purchase and $100 voucher from chat).

    • s25+ . better battery life, telephoto sensor. unless you really want a slim phone.

      • 3x telephoto is nowhere near as sharp as the 200mp at 3x

    • S25+

    • I got the s25+ on the early EOFY sale.. $920. More batt is better for me.

  • I got this a couple of weeks ago. It's an upgrade from my S21. There's a huge difference in processing speed, the screen is wider and crisper, and the touch reaction is also a lot faster. I chose this mainly because I like lightweight phones and use Android, and I like it so far. The only downside is the camera bump. You can easily feel it when you set it down on a hard surface. However, in actual use, there's rarely a need to lay it flat on a surface..

  • this, or the redmi note 15 pro plus for $629.30 (after 30% discount)?

    • FYI, xiaomi phone prices are over inflated in Australia. They were sold a lot cheaper in other Asian countries, even with promotion like these they are more expensive.

      • Yeah that's common with most Chinese brands. Tend to be cheaper domestically than international.

Regardless, how the one I showed fair up against the OP?

  • Keen to change my S21, but would prefer to go with a Google Pixel now. But this edge is light which attracts me? Wait for the next Pixel or S27??

    • Snapdragon chip should help performance longer than exynos, but I'm not sure what chip they will put in the S27

    • Pixel's hardware is crap but strong in the android platform. This Samsung S25 Edge has got great hardware, but slightly less competent camera and battery. If it's me, I would go for this one, instead of any Pixel phones.

  • How does this only support 25w wired charging and only has a 3900 mAh battery. Even my ZTE Nubia Z60 Ultra smartphone has a 6000 mAh battery with 80 wired charging and that smartphone came out in late 2023. This smartphone will be struggling to last a full day with such a small battery.

    • Read the comments above. People who actually use the phone seem satisfied with the battery life. Different people use their phones differently.

      • They mustn't use it that much or constantly have it recharging each day. I can easily get through 2 days without my smartphone going flat or any where near it. Like on the second day using it and still have some thing like 50-60% battery remaining. Personally i'd hate to be constantly having to re-plug the smartphone in to charging in a car or at work just to get by but each to their own. I suppose people who want larger and longer lasting batteries go for a flagship phone with a larger battery.

        • I suppose people who want larger and longer lasting batteries go for a flagship phone with a larger battery.

Yup that's exactly it. Everyone uses their phone differently. Someone who isn't a heavy user will be fine with this, a heavier user can get a phone with a larger battery along with the heavier weight and thicker dimensions.

That's the great thing about Android, there are plenty of choices for everyone since not everyone uses their phone the same way.

I use a magnetic wireless stand at work so it's very easy to just put my phone down on the charger if I'm running low and I'm sitting at a desk all day anyway. Same with my car; my magnetic phone holder charges the phone too.

  • So this is the same as the store? My mother got a phone from their website itself.

    • I think the discount coupon code is for an online account only. But i may be wrong. You could always ask if Mobileciti will apply this discount in store you never know.

      • No I meant is it the same people, just wanted to make sure.

        • Yes i see misread it well it's the same store. Mobileciti. Their B&M store is located in Lidcombe, Sydney but they also run an online store that's https://www.mobileciti.com.au but this here is from their eBay store which they also run. It's exactly the same business. It's where i recently bought my ZTE Nubia Z60 Ultra smartphone from but it's now OOS.

  • Is still using a Note 20 considered as having lost the plot?

Apart from not experiencing "new phone" vibes , what have I missed in the last few years??

    • Security updates?

    • You missed the last few versions of Android. But i suppose since your phone is stuck on Android 13 that it didn't get any AI features so i suppose that's a plus since you know what good is the AI on a smartphone. Google didn't put AI into Android until Android 14.

  • It came out a year ago so more importantly it's 6 years left of security updates.

  • My edge arrived today, impressed so far. Gettinf smashed with OS updates and installing new apps, its quick! How the battery game plays, time will tell but so far is a great bit of kit for the coin.

  • Better than the std model, how?

    • It's slimmer and lighter. The main camera uses the same 200MP sensor as the Ultra, while the standard S25/S25+ has a 50MP sensor. It lacks the third zoom lens on the S25+ though.

  • Motorola signature can be found for the same price.

It's light and has a silicon carbon battery so battery life is still good. It has a zoom lens and a gemini Nano v3/gemini intelligence compatible cpu. Camera scores much higher on dxomark and charging speeds faster.

Idk why anyone would buy a S25 edge.

  • Dual sim means dual physical sim slots? Or nanosim + esim?

    • Looks like the later:

      Dual SIM (Nano + eSIM)

      • The model sold in Australia is the gimped model with only one physical nano sim slot. The better model sold overseas supports dual nano SIM but this Australia model ain't that. The best you can do with this gimped model is one nano sim and one eSIM used at the same time that's it. Kind of crap really if you want to use dual nano SIM as the Australia model isn't the one for that.
