Thanks, I will pass then, I would be using it 80% for desktop work and 20% gaming.

Why is it flickering?
- 0

variable refresh rate probably
- 1

Isnt that not fit for purpose
- 0

Easy fix of you disable dynamic refresh rate off and set the refresh rate to a fixed one, say 120hz.
- 0

I dont got this issue
- 0

Probably because of low PWM rates in the display panel itself, since the “dimming” is essentially done by flickering the panel on and off really fast to simulate brightness.
The faster the PWM is, though, the less noticeable the flickering is.- 1

$510 if you have student discount.
- 5

How do you get it?
- 0

if you have a student email you just google dell student discount - make an account - navigate to the monitor - don't use the discount code from the deal, your student discount is greater.

They updated the firmware so now it can do an even brighter HDR 1000 peak mode.

How do i clean this, i read many comments people ruin the coating, mine is covered in like 50 droplets of sneezes, pho, tea, pepsi max, watermelon juice, sweat and assorted fluids
- 2

Get a clean microfiber cloth.
Spray distilled water onto the cloth, NOT on the screen.
Do gentle circular wipes on monitor.
Dry off screen with another microfiber cloth.
And try keep your assorted fluids off the monitor in future.
- 4

Wax on. Wax off.
- 4

Spray distilled water onto the cloth, NOT on the screen. Do gentle circular wipes on monitor.
Excellent way to spread grease. Distilled water isn’t a surfactant.
- -8

That's what the cloth is for
- 7

Thanks for telling us what's wrong with doing something without providing alternatives mate.
- 15

This distilled water method i find leaves a spotless finish. I would add though,
Make sure the monitor is off and cool, don't do it after running it!
And as stated above, very important to use one microfiber for the clean and a different one for the dry off.
- 6

Yes, this.
Distilled water is $6 for a giant jug from Bunnings.- 0

great monitor! would recommend :)

Bought that for $499 from the Dell outlet not long ago, great monitor, I haven't had any issues with it. Definitely recommend it.
- 1

Have has this screen for 2 months now after sending back a MSI OLED monitor due to dead pixels, from a deal here. So much happier with the Dell. Sitting along side my SDG 27, I bought many a year ago. Cyperbunk 2077 looks very pretty on the screen. Highly recommend, I also picked this up slightly cheaper through the Dell store with a discount through work, so plug your work email in and see if you can get a partner discount

How does this monitor compare to S2721DGF for general desktop use? Is there text fringing? Or flickering like poster above mentioned?
- 1

would love to know too! looking for an OLED to pair with my S7271DGF. Would use it maybe 60% gaming 40% work.
- 0

I have had no flickering. Took me a while to adjust the colours to my liking. I now use the S2721DGF as my main working monitor. The S2721DGF holds up as a great monitor for gaming it really does. The OLED is richer and more immersive. However if you aren't gaming too much and use your screens for say 70% work, then i probably wouldn't upgrade, as the text , word documents is easier on the eye than the OLED for extended use. I built a new PC recently and had a little extra cash so treated myself to the new screen. Also, Dell has a 3 year warranty. Hope this helps, happy to answer any others questions. Overall very happy with the purchase. Oh also, great for watching movies on as well, when the wifey or kids are watching something on the TV
- 1

Thanks, I'll stick with my S2721DGF as my primary monitor then. It'd be a pain to switch monitors when I want to game and most of the time my monitor would be used for work or general browsing.
- 1

How's the brightness in SDR compared to the Dell S2721dgf?
- 0

I can't see any usb-a ports. I have a few peripherals I need to plug in like lights and speakers and mouse. Does this have any?
- -2

There is one. You can tell from the picture or from the
“Ports” section if you scroll down 3cm 🙄- 4

damn. what a downgrade. my current monitor got 6
- -3

Fully agree with you. It's an downgrade. Doesn't even have a VGA port as mu old monitor used to.

You can get a Gigabyte WOLED for $599 + shipping.
https://www.centrecom.com.au/gigabyte-go27q24g-27-qhd-woled-…
- 1

What is better woled or qoled
- 0

I tried a QD-OLED 1440p 27” monitor and found it fairly unusable for anything but gaming and videos thanks to text fringing. I’d assume WOLED is better
- 4

I've also owned a QD-OLED 1440p panel and didn't notice any text fringing whatsoever… YMMV.
- 1

from the hardware unboxing review the OP linked:
[00:04:43] However, text clarity <on the Alienware> is superior to 240
[00:04:46] Hz W OLEDs which use an RWBG layout.and then:
[00:04:49] W OLED text rendering did improve with
[00:04:51] newer 480Hz panels, but those are not in
[00:04:53] the same price class as this 280 Hz QD
[00:04:56] OLED.disclaimer - I have no first hand experience with these
- 3

How's the adjustment options on the default stand for this one?
- 0

Do I get this or just go 4k
- 0

It depends on your PC mate, only go 4k if you setup can handle it well… In my opinion 1440p is the sweet spot
- 1

I would also add, in darker rooms, OLED’s contrast and blacks really shine. In brighter rooms, those benefits are reduced, so a quality 4K IPS becomes a stronger alternative. Especially for productivity and daytime use
I’m coming from an AOC 24G2 IPS 1080p, so the difference will be huge for me personally
- 1

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/921406 (modified) main rig is doing alright but I currently have a x3 1440p ips screens setup not sure if I take the leap of faith and go OLED
- 0

Depends on your system and how you like to play games.
Personally, I would choose a 1440p monitor if it means I'll be able to maintain over 120fps in most games without having to rely too heavily on dlss..
I have a 13600k/5070ti system and I'm in the same boat, but I'm leaning towards the 1440p option.
I'm basing this mainly on the fact Alan wake 2 still doesn't even run that well at 1440p native, let alone with all the rt features on 😭- 0

Anyone order this, get a reasonable delivery date and then on said date the ETA goes up by some 3 weeks?
Was excited to receive it today… now June 8- 2

Bought it the day of the post, says due tomorrow and has been sitting on processing - I'm sure mine will update soon.
- 1

Update: Delayed to June 10. Why even sell these if they're not in stock? Bit of a bait no?
- 0

Dell has been doing this for years.
I've purchased a bunch of monitors from them over over the years, and many times the delivery date has been pushed back weeks, and sometimes months.
Can't remember if COVID was an issue at that time though…
I think it was the 2721dgf which ended up being delivered almost 2 months after ordering with the original delivery schedule suggesting a week or so.
- 0

Yep, exact thing happened to me!
- 0

Ordered it. Mine is by June 22! But I want the right monitor.
- 0

$508.57 with edu discount. Massive thanks OP.

Thanks OP got one

Can you use monitor arm with this?

100mm x 100mm vesa mount

Delivery date has blown out to 22nd June for me if I was to order today.
Eugh long waiting time, but $508 vs $693 for a Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 G60SD 360hz..time is money?- 0

Has anyone got theirs yet?
- 0

I ordered on 22 May, called them this morning and they said they're expecting a shipment next week.
- 2

Ordered mine on the same day so lets hope we get it next week
- 1

Update: I ordered on 22 May with an estimated delivery date of 31 May. I called this morning and was advised that they were OOS and expecting a shipment early next week. However, I got a text this afternoon with tracking details for a delivery date of 1 June. Hope this helps anyone else in the same boat.

With a student discount, its now $478.60.
Looks like Dell bumped the student discount to 20%"AU MUC STUDENT PURCHASE PROGRAM FY27 20% (ARTM-3)

Hi, my order just shipped today but I found that my order status changed to “delivered” at same moment (I thought I should be “shipped”). Do you have same situation.

Great monitor. I do notice the flickering when doing desktop use, but not while gaming, so it helps to have a second monitor for general browsing.
