No process you buy on JP eshop with JP account and run the game with your JP account

You can have multiple profiles logged in

For payment I buy gift cards from Amazon JP, seemed like the quickest way.

  Most Japanese games only support Japanese I have found. Games for Asia aka HK etc and multi. This is the same when buying physical and I like to check and Playasia as they normally tell you and are correct

    Recently bough a physical jap copy of Shinobi on switch and it defaulted to English (based on my switch’s language setting set)

    Most games I purchased from jap also changes language in accordance with the system’s language default setting - so the games actually play in English.

    Strange that this persona is not adhering to the same.

    It varies a lot case-by-case.

    The JP version of Pokopia for example has English support.

    You just need to see if the game has English (英語) support on the JP eShop game page.

      With Switch games, it's a "you get all of the languages it's available in, wherever you buy it from" thing. If it has an English release on Switch, it doesn't matter where you buy it from, you can change the language to English. If it doesn't, you're out of luck. The exception is emulated titles, like how Pokemon FireRed is effectively a direct port of the GBA game, meaning there was only one language on the cart, so you're locked into whichever language you buy.

        That's mostly true of more recent games, that have the same launch window.

        There are also other games where, due to them not getting English releases until much later, have separate builds/SKUs in the Japanese eShop versus other regions.

        Then you get really funny cases, like:
        Super Robot Wars T: Japanese only
        Super Robot Wars V: Japanese, English, Chinese (Simplified & Traditional)
        Super Robot Wars X: Japanese, English, Chinese (Simplified & Traditional)
        Super Robot Wars 30: Japanese and English
        Super Robot Wars Y: Japanese, English, Korean, Chinese (Simplified & Traditional)

        Which is exactly why I say that it varies a lot case-by-case.
