  • 4.90% p.a. Standard variable bonus rate
  • 0.75% p.a. (on up to $30,000) Spend&Save variable bonus rate.

Requirements for standard variable bonus rate (4.90% p.a.):

  • Keep your account balance above $0 at all times during the month
  • Make at least one deposit (Interest paid doesn’t count)
  • Have a higher balance at the end of the month than at the start.

Requirements for Spend&Save variable bonus rate (0.75% p.a. on up to $30,000):

  • Be aged 18-34 with a Westpac Life and Westpac Choice account in your name (Joint accounts are not eligible)
  • Make 20 eligible purchases with the Debit Mastercard® linked to your Westpac Choice account.

For balances over $30k, the Standard variable base rate and Standard variable bonus rate will apply to the entire balance (e.g. $40k balance = 5.75% p.a. on $30k and 5.00% p.a. on $10k).

Happy hoop jumping.

  • TWENTY eligible purchases??? WTF?!

    • This offer is good for a very very specific use case - power to whoever actually does all 20 each month

  • Should be illegal to have such tight restrictions for 'bonus' interest… And that 30k limit is a joke. So low.

  • 20 eligible purchases ???? Too much effort for up to $30,000

  • Unnecessary hurdles compared to other banks. So for those reasons I’m out.

  • 20 1c transactions at woolies?
If theres massive lines at the check outs at the end of each month, we know which bank to blame lol

  • Westpac thinks age discrimination is okay in this instance…

    • "Spend&Save is now available until you're 40!

  • 20??? jesus (profanity) christ……..

  • For what it's worth, Westpac has widened the scope of this product - now applies for people aged 18-40 years, and the Spend&Save bonus interest applies up to $150,000 if I'm not mistaken.

If anyone has a savvy use case for 20 transactions I'm all ears…

edit - also, the Choice account fees are waved for "Customers under the age of 41 or full-time tertiary students". I think that's also changed(?)
