  • Out of interest why did you make the psu comment?
I have this card but didn't upgrade psu

    • its for those who want 9070xt which requires minimum 750w compared to those already rocking 650w on at 9070. in your case, you probably already bought 650w or higher from the start.

      • Thanks!

      • You don't need a 750w psu unless you're pairing it with a very high end intel cpu, 650 is more than plenty.

      • It doesn't require anywhere near 750w, that's just a figure to cover their asses in case of shitty PSU or power hungry CPUs like 14900k..

  • Worth upgrading a 4060 to this for gaming use? The extra RAM seems like the main selling point from what I can see

mITX build limited to 2 fan designs

    • if you can, just get 9070xt and downclock if your parts suffice, couple bucks more but youre set for a while

      • Does XT come in dual fan designs? That's my main limitation, PSU has enough overhead as the CPU is only 65w TDP

    • It's more or less a 5070, imo it's only 1 gen and a model up. Depends if your having performance issues

      • Mainly too much offloading to RAM with AI models, 48GB DDR5 so it's got a decent amount for offloading but much slower then

        • A 7900xtx might be better as it has 24gb vram

          • @brocky2006: mITX build, case limits me to two fans sadly.

    • have a look here - https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-4060.c4107

there's a table of performance relative to other cards.

Personally, yes, I think that's a worthwhile upgrade for the extra VRAM alone, if nothing else.

    • i have a giga 9070…

runs everything i throw at it at 2k res and never goes more than 55-60deg on 60% fan speed

  • I switched from 4060 to this and much better, but ever since (and running DDU for gpu uninstall) my PC randomly hangs recovering from sleep and does a full restart/boot.

    Tbh it is very annoying

    • Might be worth double checking everything is plugged in properly and taking out and putting back in the ram.

    • mine has issues shutting down … if i go into bios or make system changes a shutdown will result in a restart… only when i unplug it and dont do bios or system changes will it shut down..

think my 15yr old psu is the reason thou

  • Folks, need your input please.
I have the XFX Quicksilver Magnetic Air Radeon RX 7900 GRE little over a year old.
Is this worth the upgrade? Or get a 2nd hand card off marketplace for the same $?
I play older games, so this isn't fps related, it's more about not loosing too much via depreciation.

    Or just HODL?

    • I generally don't recommend changing GPUs every year or only upgrade if they will see a 100% improvement in performance. The GRE is still a capable card in 2026 and will retain value.

I'd say hold and enjoy your card for a few more years :)

      • The answer I was hoping to hear.
        Thanks mate!

      • Hey @RandomEnjoyer, I was looking at the Lenovo Legion Pro 32UD.
Will my RX 7900GRE be able to push out decent frames on that monitor? I don't want my gaming to suffer just because I upgraded my monitor and the card can't keep up. Currently play older games, 3rd person mostly, and The Division 2 95% of the time.

I already have a 32" from this deal, as my secondary.
        LG Ultrafine Ergo 32UN88A 4K
        Amazon
        Bing Lee

I'm hoping my gpu doesn't struggle to run both these, (I only use my Dell S2721DGF for gaming).

What do you think? Can I get the Lenovo with no issues?

        • The 7900 GRE can usually output 60 to 70 FPS ultra settings 4K for most AAA titles. For older & optimised titles, it'll be higher i think. A 9070 will be a sidegrade if anything.

I use two monitors as well - as long as you're not playing a different game on each, you should be good.

  • HODL! Wait til the RX 9070XT gets close to this price. It’s only a matter of time.

    • I'm checking it every day.

Powercolor Reaper for ~$829 is the historical low. Waiting for it to reach this again or potentially lower.

      • Yes - but that one was limited for 1 hour and probably only 5 in stock.

        • Are you sure you're not confusing it with this XFX deal?

The one I'm talking about had plenty of stock and was available for at least half the day if not longer.

I know because I sitting on the page at work pondering about buying it haha.

          • @dqtl74: I don't know how close to that price you're looking for, but this RX9700XT 16gb is on sale at UMart for $899.

I don't know if the reputation for UMart has improved in the last 6 months, but they were not well regarded there for a little while. Perhaps check recent reviews to see if they have sorted that out.

            • @ColPow11: I've bought my last 2 cards from them and haven't had any issues. To be fair though, the cards haven't had any problems so that might change if I need to RMA something in the future.

And yes, I check the 9070 XT prices frequently and most seem to be $879-899 for the lower tier models and $900-1000 for the higher end ones.

I'm probably just waiting for it to hit that magical $800 before my impulse control fails.

        • That was in stock for days, I bought 1 easy.

    • p.s. This deal was posted - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/950501 PowerColor Reaper 9070 XT - still in stock for $874 (if that's close enough to this price)
For a card which performs closer to the 5070Ti it's a much better deal, also 16 GB VRAM vs. the 5070 (non Ti)
