Clinically proven to last up to 7 days

That's a bold claim. I'm curious. Even 24-hour protection deodorant I need to use every 12 hours.

    • +5

It does something with neutralizing bacteria. I use it once every ~4 days but everyone is different. Worth trying the samples and see how you go.

I just ran out of Lavalin and about to try No Pong as it is cheaper and you can buy at the supermarket. We'll see how it compares.

      • +2

Given the main ingredient is zinc oxide, I tried using zinc sunscreen, and that works pretty well too; need to apply every 2-3 days instead of 3-4, but much cheaper, though doesn't feel as nice applying it

      • I've seen Lavalin in a couple of pharmacies but doesn't seem to be consistently available. I just buy a few at a time, and then I always have a spare in another bathroom or in my car when one runs out.

It's not cheap but I get so long out of a tub I don't really mind. Let us know if No Pong is just as good, knowing my luck these guys will be out of business at some point and I'll be (profanity) miserable.

        • If your Pharmacy is ever out of stock you can always get it online with free postage or tell them to order more 😀

      • Definitely going to give it a go.

      • -1

No Pong has a high pH and can change the acid mantle of your skin for the long term and you will potentially find that it will be a struggle to readjust if you want to go back to Lavilin. The other issue to consider is how long your tub of Lavilin has lasted you. Many can go 1 year or more on one tub. So in the long run Lavilin works out cheaper.

        • You have convinced me to try this same and will definitely order the product if this works for me !

    • 72 hour versions were about $2.50 on special. Aldi and Coles. They work for up to a week but that depends on your activity and individual biology.

      Showers/bath would need reapplication right?

What about crotch area to reduce sweating? I assume it works the same.

    • +1

Thanks for giving it a go Liz. Can't wait to hear how you go. Make sure to check out this little video on how best to apply and get the most out of your sample.

    • I'm one of the lucky ones. I put hand sanitiser on my underarm once a week, it does the job.

  • I find I need to apply this about twice a week. Surprising, but it works pretty well

  • +1

I've been using this (not the sports specific one, but Lavilin) for a few years now and I don't think I'll ever go back to Rexona. It's a deoderant, not an antipersperant - so it will stop you smelling, but you'll continue to sweat. The big change for me is that it doesn't stain clothing, vs a lot of the other roll ons I had tried did, and you can get away missing a day (or two) and it stays effective.

I'm not a huge sweater, so YMMV. But I love this stuff.

    Can i have one please

  • My gym needs to be handing this out

    • Genuinely how do you tell someone at the gym they need some deodorant?

      • It's a gym, no amount of deodorant is going to stop ppl from sweating or smelling when they're working out.

        • +4

You most certainly can stop smelling at the gym when working out.

  • +5

Not sure if it's just me, but I've purchased the small tub and did a 2-week trial. It really didn't work for me. I can see how it has the water-resistant property, but I still smelled and just had to give up. I emailed the team and they suggested that I just have to wait longer for it to kick in… Not sure that's for me.

    • If you are up for persisting, we are always here to help get it working for you.

    • Have you first tried antibacterial washes like phisohex? I find it helps to neutralise odours, then the deodorants have way less work to be done.

  • whats the difference between men's sport and the other version ? I read that the sports has a slightly stronger scent? thoughts?

  • +22

Made in Israel. Wish it wasn’t so.

    • +8

Thanks for letting us know, was thinking of purchasing but now will only get the free sample

      • Now that's the real Jewish way

This is a joke plz mossad don't kill me

        • -1

Ah, so we’re profiling an entire ethnicity today? Fascinating approach. Well done

          • @Longtimelistener: I thought it would've translated but it seems that I watch too many Jewish New York comedians. Felt pretty normal to joke about Jews being fiscally conservative/frugal…

            I digress

    • I have no problem with that.

    • I'd steer clear of this amazing free product that's been internally awarded. I wouldn't rub it deep into my skin. I don't know whether the chicken or egg came first, but I wouldn't put anything past certain types. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdGeoshbUzE

  • Thanks OP, keen to try this

  • I presume it's a liquid form of Crystal Rock - no aluminium, so no allergic reaction and no odour (from you or it) but you still sweat.

A dispenser of Crystal Rock last for about 20 years, but don't drop it! About $10-odd in a supermarket, Crystal Rock is great value.

    • +1

Not liquid crystal, which is potassium alum and works as a broad-spectrum antiseptic. Whereas Lavilin works on keeping the good non-smelly bacteria on the skin's microbiome.

Just to check I understand your comment, you consented to data collection, submitted your data for collection, then complained your data was collected and blamed people that didn't collect your data?

  • I have a sample of this that I've been meaning to test .. I'm a morning shower person - can I just use this after my morning shower, even though it says to use it at night?

    • +2

You sure can. You can actually use it anytime. One of the cool things is when you notice body odour, returning a tiny smudge will stop the smell instantly even without a shower. So it can be handy to keep it with you if you forget how long you last and when you last applied. The reason we recomend night time use is it is when your body temperature is lowest and you hopefully are sweating less so it can work its magic.

      • Can confirm it does seem to stop the smell - but I think I prefer an anti perspirant rather than an anti-smell though, hate that wet armpit feeling.

But product works as advertised from what I can tell.

  • +3

    Tried previously.

Took a while to "work", then intermittently works for 3-4 days, and then seems to only last 1-2 days.

Not sure why it's so variable.

    YMMV.

Definitely worth trying it as it's free with this sample, I just wish it would be more consistent in how long it would last.

  • What deodorant are you coming from? Have you tried giving your armpits a reset, where you go commando and don't wear any deodorant for a weekend or if you can, a week when you are not going to be around too many people? Also, you can use the foot deodorant cream on your armpits. It's the same ingredients, just slightly stronger and can be just what is needed to get the smelly bacteria under control. If you are keen for more help, just contact us, and we can see what we can do to help.

  • +1

This is all sounds great but nobody is talking about the free underarm sport?

  • +1

can vouch for this stuff, have been using it a few years. Sure, not the cheapest, but as someone sensitive to strong smells, not having to put deoderant on every day makes up for it.

    • +1

Does it stop you from sweating, or just from smelling when you sweat?

      • It's a deodorant only, not an antiperspirant, so it won't stop sweat but the sweat won't smell.

  • +1

I think I have done this before but don't know where it went. Just requested it again. It's winter though… Maybe that's how I lost the last one.

    • Cat's sweat?

      • +1

We are not that different from humans, you speciesist. We have sweat glands on paw pads and in the nose region. And we pant just like dogs. These are perfect for the paws :)

  • +1

This deodorant cream sample is up to a month’s supply of deodorant, or at least 4-5 applications when applied as directed.

Don't people around here shower daily?

    • Hahaha, of course they do. You just don't have to reapply every day. It works by targeting the smelly bacteria and allowing the non-smelly bacteria to dominate then depending how long those smelly bacteria take to repopulate, is how long you can last. On average, we find it is 7 days but some go much longer (1 month) and some not as long. Everyone is different.

      • So it won't wash away, even after applying soap?

        • +1

That's right. It has already done the job so doesn't matter how many times you wash or swim.

  • +1

Excited to see how this goes!

No pong was revolutionary to me as someone who breaks out with a rash the second I use any conventional spray on deodorant. Instead I'd been using a natural roll on which didn't stop me sweating. Picked up some no pong at the start of the year and found that there was actually products that I could use.

    • No Pong is great. Lavlin works well too but I ended back on No Pong as its much nicer to apply and works great for me

  • No Pong uses magnesium hydroxide or sodium bicarbonate as one of the main ingredients. This means your skin will be in a more alkaline state. Normal skin pH is slightly acidic and applying highly alkaline chemicals just once can take a few weeks to adjust back to acidic levels. Regular application can affect the skin’s ability to heal back the acid mantle so it could take some time.

The acid mantle of the skin is a thin, slightly acidic film that helps to protect the skin from external irritants, harmful bacteria and slow moisture loss and is where the balance of healthy skin bacteria is maintained. Disrupting the pH balance of the skin with alkaline chemicals can weaken the acid mantle, making the skin more susceptible to damage and infection.

Bicarb isn't recommended to be left on the skin by many dermatologists, and magnesium hydroxide is something that should be only used minimally, if at all, on the skin according to a Cosmetic Ingredient Review in 2016. It is less water soluble than bicarb soda which is why it doesn't readily cause irritation as much, but is slow release with a very high pH of around 10 (skin is supposed to be about 4.5-5.5).

Lavilin is much gentler on the skin and the BO bacteria go nuts while the skin is trying to adjust back to acidic levels, so it has to work much harder. Some skin heals back much quicker than others but often it can take a looong time. In some cases the skin stays alkaline.

    • That pH level change is fascinating, basically it's the antibiotics philosophy - kill everyone. I imagine it would revert once the alkalinising agent is gone, but unlike the gut, there are no backups stored in the appendix, you'd have to pick up the right guys from the environment, maybe other humans? That's why mud bath is a thing. Pigs are smart.

    2 parts refined coconut oil
2 parts corn starch (or potato starch)
    1 part bicarb soda.

Mix thoroughly. Apply a pea-sized piece to each armpit.

Been using for about 5 years. Only need to use every second or third day as it does a better job than any other deodorant I've ever used at neutralising the bacteria making the smell.

    Down sides:
    - use too much and get oil stains on armpit.
    - doesn't stop sweating (no aluminium).

I used to get itchy armpits and now I cannot go back

    • +1

Agree with coconut oil helping to reduce bad bacterias, itching, rashes, etc.
Might try your ingredient list, knowing exactly what you put on your skin is important.

      • Play with the ratios but honestly I'm never going back. Totally agree with how important it is… I started having bad reactions to the commercial ones and the ingredient lists are just not encouraging me to put that stuff on.

  • When it says it lasts for 7 days, does that mean I apply a pea size amount once and it should get me through the week?

Legit question: How often am I supposed to apply deodorant/anti-perspirant in general? For the past 15 years, I've been applying daily in the morning before going out. But with all of these talks about aluminum being carcinogenic, I get paranoid and I scrub scrub scrub my armpit during my night shower daily and let my armpit rest a bit from deodorant. But even then, my wife complains that I smell bad. I generally don't have strong body odor to begin with.

    • It can last up to 7 days but it depends on the person. I can go 5-7+ days be reapplying. I get over a year to each tub.
The most important thing to note is that you may need to apply it more often when you first start using it and gradually extend the time between applications. Your body has to adjust and clear out the gunk from the traditional deodorants commonly used. They had a guide on their website on how to successfully transfer from the usually deodorants, guessing it is still there.

      • So once you've transitioned, even if you scrub your armpit during shower, you can still maintain odour free without additional application?

        • Don't scrub your armpit as that will affect the delicate biome balance of your skin. Only gentle sudsing with a soap free body wash is the best practice.

        • I don't scrub, just a quick rub with my fingers with water running over works for me. I don't work a dirty job though #desklife

    • Apply daily but get a natural Deodarant

There’s a guy in my apartment complex that has worn the same singlet to the gym for years. Lately he’s been on the treadmill shortly after I get there, have to cut my session short cause his armpit stench disturbs everything within a 10m radius. If only I knew his unit number.

  • Never shower again! (Hot water companies hate this one simple trick)

  • I think this is a great product, but (1) found it difficult to use properly with armpit hair and (2) found that it was leaving a sticky residue on my clothing.
If I was open to trimming my underarm hair, and didn't wear shirts for work, it would be a no-brainer. One of the healthiest forms of deodorant available on the market.
I now use spray crystal deodorant and it's fantastic.

    • Sounds like you were using way too much. I have hairy arm pits and it is easy to split the hair in the middle of your armpit and rub into the skin

      • Nope I used the exact right amount! Thanks.

        • Did it rub in transparent? Does sound like you were using too much if it left residue on your clothing. But great, you found the right product that works for you.

  • They should hand these out on the 86 tram in Melbourne. My gosh there are a lot of hobos, junkies and great unwashed, who use this tram route, and could do with some underarm care!

  • Needed by people who catch the Victorian trains, thank you from another commuter

  • I ordered the free sample during the last deal and it never showed up.

    • Sometimes they go missing or addresses are incorrect. We try to follow up with an email to make sure it arrived. So you should have heard from us unless your details are incorrect or you did not subscribe to emails.

      • The address was right. And it popped up on my shop app. It just says “waiting for details”. If it helps my order number was #S88153. Ordered on Jan 30th.

        • I'll try resending it for you

  • I've been using it for over a year and love it. However sometimes I find it creates pimples in that region that puts me off sometimes. Any idea why Pety?

    • Does it happen more in summer, when you have increased sweating?
Does it show up when you exercise?

Was going to order, but realised that it's full of dairy. The ingredients include lactose and milk protein. Gross…

There's a vegan sample, but it's not free.

  • didnt work for even 3 hours
