God I hate these harnesses branded as 'no pull.'
Like, if you had to hitch your dog to a trailer, it would look exactly like this. A shackle at the front of the harness doesn't change a thing other than the dog just walks on a slight angle instead.- 1
Whilst I agree with you after trying various harnesses I finally bit the bullet on a 24 K9 and the transformation on a Staffy was instantaneous. Such a pleasure to walk her that she now gets two walks per day.

I think it is kinda dependent on your dog and breed type. I have a sammy that doesn't respond to the front clip, but the goldie walks like a dream on it.
The front clip is better than the back clip since it is meant to gently guide the dog away from the direction they are pulling. However, if they are stubborn then there are other tools or if too excited, training and desensitising will help.

You are correct!
It's like no one has ever seen a horse & cart before. The cart is attached to the horse via a chest harness because that is where the horse's centre of gravity is &, thus, it's strongest pulling power. When you want to control a horse, you put on a bridle because its neck is the weakest point & pulling its head to the side gains control.
Only a face based apparatus is true 'no pull' but a lot of dogs don't like them.
If I was to put this apparatus on my 48kg dog, even though I'm 100+kg, he would pull me over any time he wanted to - it's just physics. If I had a harness around my hips, I would have a better chance, but then my knees would probably give way :-)
These things are fine depending on the size of the dog & the size of the person trying to gain control, but there are definitely NOT 'no pull'.

Yep. I have a Bernese mountain dog and I could attach this harness to her and the other end to a bogged Hilux and watch the ute get dragged out. Like you said, physics determine that only a face-attached harness can actually do anything about preventing pulling, from a mechanical perspective.
