Hey OzBargainers,
Just noticed this wine is back on sale. I picked up a case last time it was around and it's a cracker of a drop for the price, so wanted to share it for anyone looking to stock up.
It's the Dowie Doole Cali Road Reserve Shiraz 2022. It has an $80 RRP and sits in their premium tier, but using the code provided drops a full dozen down to $165 shipped. That works out to $13.75 a bottle delivered.
If you aren't a Skye Club member yet for the free shipping, you can bypass the $50 annual fee for free using the Skyclub code via this older OB post: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/956444
Value comparison: Vinomofo has this exact vintage discounted at $25 a bottle ($300 a dozen) sold out: https://www.vinomofo.com/wines/red-wine/dowie-doole-cali-roa…
The reviews on this 2022 vintage are massive:

- 94 Points (Wine Pilot): "Quite a plush and generous style which will provide much pleasure over the next ten to twelve years…" (https://winepilot.com/dowie-doole-cali-road-shiraz-2022/)
- 93 Points (Campbell Mattinson): "If you enjoy full-bodied red wine, expect to be satisfied in full… the fruit is swashbuckling." (https://www.campbellmattinson.com/reviews/mclaren-vale/dowie…)
Standard shipping rules apply - free delivery mainland wide once you have the club membership active. Adelaide metro goes via their local vans.
Enjoy.

I picked this up from SkyeCellars last year when it was under cork, and it struck me as a very well-made wine that aligned perfectly with my palate—I tend to gravitate toward big, bold styles. It really comes across as thick in your glass.
This latest batch comes under screwcap, which I consider a definite plus.
It’s been aged in American oak, and that influence is clear: prominent vanilla notes, a core of dark fruit on the palate supported by firm tannins, and a structure that really benefits from decanting to let the initial alcohol heat settle. Rewards you with a long satisfying finish. Definitely more of a food wine than a sipping one.
At $13.75 a bottle delivered, it’s a bargain IMHO.
