  • yeah I don't want my data sold off to the dark web again, no thanks optus.

    • And they refused to pay cashback for signing up via Finder to users.

      • Did they? I missed mine and filed a report with finder and got the $350 a few days later.

Was annoying having to get all the info they wanted tho.

        • You are lucky mate. Check the comment section of Optus signing up deal via Finder and you will find a few users complaining they are ineligible to the cashback.

          • @BennyHe2018: I'm one among the affected members from Finder rewards (for Medibank insurance). Was told I didn't stay till the fulfilment date

          • @BennyHe2018: I received $50 for the $100 cash back event.

        • Did you already get your $350 Visa Gift Card from Finder? Mine is still in processing but won't be finalised until end of June.

      • I'm awaiting this to get tracked lol…

        No solution yet …

      • optus also refused to pay cashback for shopback offers, with no reason at all.

    • On the flipside, should be very easy to signup since they already have your details?

I'm expecting my details to already be pre-filled when I signup with them lol

    • All these companies sell off your data and info! Optus was just the one who got caught doing it.

  • Anyone having issues signing up, I get to accepting terms and it jumps to home page for some reason?

    • Same issue here, I flagged it with them and they shrugged their shoulders and told me to do it in store.

  • So does this also stack with Finder $250 visa card Offer

    • I am checking if I can combine those two. Seems yes

      • How can you combine them with 2 different links?

        • As soon as you've completed all the steps with Finder they mark the $250 as pending in your Finder account, pending confirmation from Optus that you've fulfilled the Optus end of the deal. As long as you purchase something from Optus that meets the Ts & Cs, they give you the $250.

But good luck getting the Flybuys offer to work on their website, because it hasn't been working for anyone so far and they told me to do it in store.

          • @MuchUsernameWow: whats this finder deal people are referring to? Can someone link it please

          • @MuchUsernameWow: Once Finder tracks your reward, and you then sign up with the Flybuys code, how does Finder link the sign up to your account? Do names have to match or something?

            • @Uncle Roger: From the TnCs,

              "Eligibility
To qualify for the Reward, you must:
-Be a registered Finder member (or create an account) and remain a member until Reward fulfilment
-Use the same email address on your Finder account and your Optus account

              Ineligibility
The Reward will not be issued if:
Your email address does not match between Finder and Optus
You redeem another similar Optus promotion or cashback offer"

          • @MuchUsernameWow: I don't think it will stack. Finder T&C clearly says:

The Reward will not be issued if:
You do not use the unique promotion link to purchase the Eligible Products on Optus' website

So you have to use the link from Finder which is different than the flybuys.

I think Finder is better deal compare to this you are getting $250 gift card that you can use as you see fit.

On that note, does anyone know if I can delay the activation for Optus NBN order to a certain date? Did not see an option to pick a date for activation online order.

  • Still waiting for my 40,000 Flybuys points after connecting in early Feb. Submitted a claim this morning.
The NBN (500/50 FTTP) has been fine.

    • Same. Been 3 months now and was going to wait a bit longer since Flybuys is usually pretty slow but might be better off being proactive with a claim.

    • How/where do you submit a claim? I reached out to FB Chat and was advised points is likely to be issued after 25th May (I also signed up in Feb and due for 30k points).

      • I initially tried through Optus online chat, I was directed to Flybuys chat and it was sent to their support team to investigate. Frustrating that we need to jump through these hoops for what looks like a pretty standard promotion.

        • OK same here, I went to Optus first and was told to contact Flybuys. It was Flybuys customer service that responded points likely issued after 25th May, didn't offer to raise a ticket/claim.

    • The bonus FB points dropped into my account today (signed up 10th Feb)

    • I got my points exactly 3 months after I signed up.

  • Had a terrible experience trying to signup with them during the previous Finder offer. Never again!

  • Are they behind CGNat?

    • No Optus don't use CG-NAT on nbn.

  • You can have these prices forever at Carbon Comms plus no CGNAT

    • ok. The 40k bonus points are the main selling point here though. For 6 months the cost works out to be about $46 per month.

      • It's not worth it. It's at best a $200 coupon and you have to nail the churn timing.

        • Everyone has to buy groceries so the $200 of flybuys points will always get used, whether its for groceries at Coles… clothes or household items at Kmart, Target, Bunnings. So it is definitely worth it! If you leave after 3 months when you get the points. That means it only costs you $40 for 3 months internet! About $13 per month. If you don't see how its worth it, then you should definitely not be on this site! Theres no churn timing. Optus has pro rata, so you only pay for whatever days you've used in the month. You can cancel anytime

  • Optus doesn't want new customers. Tried signing up with them in the last deal and today and it just doesn't work. Previously, it wouldn't let me sign up, saying I already had an account. Now, after selecting the plan and accepting the T&C, it just goes back to the standard Optus page.

    • I'm also having the same issue too, after clicking on I accept it just redirect back to the main page.

      • Same

        • I ended up signing up for Amaysim(6months)

  • Now they have blocked my account.

  • Terrible Optus, don't waste your time.

  • Does Optus still not have IPv6 (an embarrassment for our second biggest telco)?

I did this about 12 months ago and got a similar amount of flybuys points. The internet itself worked fine however Dealing with Optus is like deliberately walking into a burning bush. Only do it if you are prepared for that.

  • $79*12 - $200 (flybuy rewards in dollars) = ~62/month.
User gets locked for 12 months

    • There is no lock in contract. Min is $79 from what I could see..

      • Oh yes. This looks like a month to month. I could be wrong

        • $79*3 - $200 = $37 for 3 months Quite a good deal. Unfortunately, I need to be on opticomm. Excellent deal tbh

  • Be wary of using the Cashback options, in reading the T&C's, I believe that you can only have flybuys OR cashback options, they do not stack.

Also, anyone have luck using the link? It seems to dump out after you approve the terms and conditions, straight back to the Optus home page…

    • Nope, I've tried it on mobile, PC, etc.

Complained to Optus, who fobbed me off on Flybuys, who fobbed me back to Optus, who told me to get the deal in store because they can't apply the Flybuys over the phone.

I asked them to pass on feedback that the website deal wasn't working and they said they would investigate.

      • Yeah I got told it needed to be activated from inside the Flybuys portal. Maybe log into your Flybuys(PC not mobile) and look up earn points through partners, then find the Optus deal there.

Unfortunately I got the same problem, complained a bit and they opened a case for resolution. Will see what happens.

        • The website was fixed late Friday night, I signed up and they called me Saturday morning to complete it.

  • are we able to choose a future activation / port-in date to start the nbn plan or nah? i couldnt see that option during the whole order filling process hence did not click through

    • From past experience you should be able to. Alternatively post sign up you can contact Optus with your order no and ask them to change the activation date.

      • I believe they wont. They would rather ensure u port over asap and offset credit of existing plan against new plan chosen.

  • Signed up last night, got a call this morning from some Indian that I could barely understand wanting to verify my order details. Thought it was a scam, but called the actual Optus number and they asked me 21 questions about info they already had.

Be prepared to go through some pain, I've been on with them for 21 minutes and still going. Makes Telstra feel like a breeze. FFS
