Price matched at JB Hi-Fi and stacked it with 5% off gift cards from my employer rewards portal.

After lurking for months and changing my mind countless times, I finally pulled the trigger on this. If you are currently in the same boat and overwhelmed by choices, this Reddit thread might help you make a call -https://www.reddit.com/r/RobotVacuums/comments/1ou3oxu/i_got_overwhelmed_by_robot_vac_choices_so_i_made/

My main criteria were a pressurized roller mop, strong suction, and an anti-tangle brush for hair. This model seems to tick all the boxes, though only time will tell if it’s truly worth the premium price tag.

On a side note: Why on earth do JB live chat reps spend the first 6–8 minutes asking completely random questions when price matching?

"Why do you want to buy this? What's the occasion?"

"How's the weather in Melbourne today?"

Is this a standard security check, or are they just lonely? 😅

Cheers!

  • Don't see the $1499 price on Ecovacs or Jbhifi ?

    • Also interested to know how you're getting that price.

    • Ecovacs website had it for $1499 and I got it price matched on JB.

  • Friends don’t let friends buy Ecovacs.

I’d personally stay away, go for Roborock, Dreame or Eufy instead. Especially at this price.

    • I've got the one OP posted, purchased during blackfriday sales last year, been amazing so far. No issues.

Will have to see how it goes long term tho.

    • I 100% agree, i bought a X1 on recommendation from a friend(we arent friends anymore) its been the worst vacuum ive ever had - got warranty and got a X2 replacement, just as bad with different issues - will never recommend or buy one again

      • Thankfully I took mine back to the retailer and asked for a credit to buy another brand instead.

        • I got mine just as Godfreys closed down and had no options

    • Lady at work got an Ecovacs, even though I recommended Roborock. Apparently it keeps dropping off the wifi mid vacuum and returns to base (or gets stuck?). Never had that issue with Roborock.

  • I guess the party is over. Back to the full price.

About some of the negative comments, I have seen the same comments about Roborock, Dreame and every other brand, I don't think a perfect Robot Vaccum exists in the world.

I have Roborock S5 max, and it's front wheel fell off, and it is a rubbish now. Had paid around ~$999, it just kept getting lost, never returned to the dock. Never again.

  • I know deal is over but between this and the well reviewed Dreame L50 Ultra, which one is better? No pets but long hair from girls at home, hard floor and clutter from kids.

Read that navigation and object avoidance not the best with ecovacs?

    • Dreame L50 Ultra by far.

      • Thanks. Do you have experience with Dreame L50 Ultra or its because of your bad experience with Ecovacs? (Per your comments above about returning for credit?)

        • Haven't owned a Dreame, no.

          But I say this because:

          • It has stayed on the top 5 for Vacuum Wars for quite some time for a while.
          • Lots of people on OzB/elsewhere have bought it and love it.

I got my Roborock Saros 10R for $1,800, I think 2 weeks later I saw someone post the Dreame L50 Ultra for $1,100 - if I had seen that I would have pulled the trigger.

Edit: Also because I hang around/upvote good robot vac deals, I see quite a few comments and while no brand is immune to problems, I consistently see Ecovacs pop-up more than Mova, Dreame, Eufy and Roborock.

          • @Apostle0748: Thanks mate. I am sure Saros 10R is great as well.

My last experience with Ecovacs was a long time ago with an imported T8. App and mapping was a disaster. Map occasionally disappearef or failed to load from cloud or robot would disappear from app. However that was a long time ago and maybe less of an issue now.

            • @Redsin: Could be entirely possible. To be fair to Ecovacs, mine was an X1 Omni which is older so it could be better now but from what I've seen, both Ecovacs and Eureka branded ones, I keep seeing complaints from people wishing they hadn't bought it.

For $1,500 - there has been Saros 10/10R for cheaper, L50 Ultra at $1,100 - not worth the extra hassle in my opinion.

              • @Apostle0748: Cheers. I have an unopened L50 Ultra which is still within the return period of good guys for I paid $1111. Probably it' still the best option for the price. I was wondering if I should have gone with X11 for the roller mop. Anyway deal ended and seems like lots of other review suggest to stay away from ecovacs.
