Found this today and it’s a decent saving for anyone heading to Indonesia.
Klook charges $35 AUD for the 15‑day / 20GB Indonesia eSIM.

Switch the currency to IDR and it becomes 199,626 IDR.
Pay with Wise (~12,500 IDR per AUD) and it’s about:

≈ $15.97 AUD

    I always use https://esimdb.com/ find the cheapest esim for the time I am going, and data I will need and install it.

    Never had a problem and a lot cheaper than this as I normally need 3 esims per trip.

      Great. I note that some of those sims seem to route via China or Singapore.
      Klooks esim uses Telkomsel. Indonesia's number 1 telco. No routing.

        I think everytime it has been the Telkomsel network.

        Maybe the data routes through a third country. The speed doesn't concern me - it has always been fast enough to order a grab/gojek or send a whatsapp message. This is 80% of my usage outside resort WiFi. The remaining 20% is YouTube Kids to get a moment of quiet in a restaurant.

        If data security is what you are getting at, then that is just a risk you run in any foreign country with different data protection laws and security standards. Wouldn't surprise me at all if China had a back door anyway, especially given it came out Australia was phone tapping Indonesian government officials in 2013.

      If you're concerned about identity theft or sharing passport details, it may be worth being a bit cautious. There have been a number of reported data breaches in Indonesia involving both government systems and private companies, so I personally prefer to be careful about where I provide sensitive information unless it’s really necessary.

        Great advice. I don't think you need to share passport details or even IMEI on Klook for the esim. You do on XL's site.

          Yeah it's an Indonesian Govt requirement for passports and IMEI. Overkill but is what it is.

          The Klook (and other) esims run your traffic through other countries eg HK Singapore.

          I've used the Klook esim before in Bali and had no issues

    does this have to be used right away? Going to Bali in August…. how do you switch currency (is it possible without having to give them an email address)?

      Good question about switching currency. I saw this 'currency hack' on my laptop. Easy to switch currencies. Then when you asked, I used the Klook app on my phone and can't see where to change currencies. As for expiration, it's usually 6 months from the time of buying but you would need to check.

          You’ve gotta change the currency to IDR to get the lower price.

          For example, 3gb / 7 days = AUD9.90, but when you change to IDR it becomes IDR 35,378 (AUD2.82)

                @JudoChop: Do we need a different account to do this? How does activating the SIM work do you have to have Klook app installed on both …I've only used Sailly app before and we are Samsung + iPhone! 🤣

                Anyway I've bought the 20gb with my Wise card and it was under $16 in IDR so thanks!

                Bought a second one and I didn't notice there was a code to apply and that one came in just over $13

      No. You can buy now and activate it later. The one I just bought needs to be installed by 19 Nov 2026.

      You switch currencies by tapping on your account; then “settings”.

    Thanks OP, heading to Bali in a couple of weeks and freaked out looking at your hack. As you mentioned, doesn't seem to affect everything as I checked my activities and transfer/driver hire and changing currency didn't change the dial, phew!
