Drainage Pipe out of Ground? 20 Yrs Old House

Hey guys,

inspected a house and noticed this flexible black pipe (looks like an agi pipe?) sticking out of the ground in the side path and wanted to get some thoughts.

Its sitting right in the narrow walkway between the house wall and the fence. One end is just lying there on the gravel.

should it be stayed underground? or any special purpose?

  • That's how the people trapped inside your basement are getting their air. You're supposed to be delivering their food supply through there as well.

Whatever you do, don't seal it off!

    • Cost of living, people need to make sacrifices.. so cut them out

  • If you don't buy this half finished house someone else will.

    • People in the basement already preparing to claim adverse possession…

      • Maybe they're the foreign workers people like to complain about.

  • First you showed us pictures of your Crack and now you're showing us pictures of your Pipe.

    • Next post he'll be asking us about joints in his crack house and weed in the garden.

      • correct! he shouldnt ask these in ozbargain coz here most of ppl are poor guys they keep eyes on their centrelink acc &some cheapys to save couple $ instead of getting a job. XD

        • Or they pay for professional Building & Pest inspections on the properties they're considering purchasing.

          • @Muppet Detector: 100% they must do it. if my son ask me a math quiz Ill reject to answer and turn him to his tutor coz I paid school fee

    • Are you suggesting that he's hung like a horse?

  • Block it.

You'll find out soon enough what it does.

  • Is the block sloping? Could be a French drain installed to prevent water getting under the house. We installed one when we moved into our property. Should have an ag sock covering the slotted ag pipe to prevent the pipe filling up with soil. Hopefully the end of the pipe is lower than the rest of the pipe.

  • Is it a dodgy grey water outlet/collection point?

  • You'd think the REA would figure out what it was and make it look good. Is the house cheap?

  • Any deals on ag pipes?

    • If OP takes the house they will be selling about 1m.

  • grab some friends
get them to stand in random rooms and basement and garden
    grab some peas and beans
    eat
    wait 30 minites
    fart into tube
ask ur firend who smelt it

then you will know why this pipe goes!

    • Friends' Farts Smell.

      • Aaahh. Been wondering for years what FFS meant.

  • Should I post a deal about a great free online building inspection service called Ozbargain? Given the stairs at the top of the photo, my guess is it's part of a poor attempt at stormwater diversion away from the house. One of the drawbacks of this free but online only service.
