TelstraFamily

Hi All

Thought I would share with you all a Family and Friends (& staff) offer Telstra has recently announced. This is a clearance sale so some well priced items on the list available both in-store or online (both limited and clearance only). Telstra ID is required to access the sale through Telstra.com or you can visit your local Telstra Shop to see what they have in-store and pay cash/credit outright. Repayment options are available for those who like to access 12/24 month repayment options on selected products.
Sale is on until the 18th June 11:59 AEST and is purely while stocks last. Full terms and conditions are in the PDF.

You need to use "TelstraFamily" as the coupon code both online and in-store to access the sale pricing.

Full disclosure i do work for Telstra and have been active in creating this sale including setting up the eligibility rules to enable my Ozbargain friends to access the sale pricing. Also yes some of the RRPs are "aged" but you should find many products competitive with whats out there in the market.

  • does it comes wtih free sh!ty customer support and a kick in the nuts too?

    • Absolutely! If these are mates rates, imagine the way that they treat strangers.

      • 8 telstra staff members negged me awwww :D

        • Nine, I upvoted. Nine in Australia, the rest have been sacked or offshored.

        • Nah that sh !t was hillarious 💀, not sure why all the down votes

          • @omahgah: as i have always said not many people have a sence of humor lol.

    • "bloody Telstra" carl baron.

    • I don't know if this is intended as a dig at Telstra or a dig at Google, but it works either way

  • Do you have a link to the actual store/sale, rather than a PDF?

Apologies - just realized the PDF is a list of items

  • any deals though

    • S23 range, asking price is absurd after discount.

  • Those rrp are crazy

    • We're all friends here.

    • Surely Ozbargain community would qualify as Friends and or Family? This offer isn't restricted to direct contacts/relatives or associates (no verification or qualification required) so can be shared or accessed publicly (using the voucher code). I would have thought sharing on Ozbargain is the ideal place for that sort of thing.

      • CEO of Telstra here, all good. superbass will be on PIP first thing tomorrow morning.

        • CFO here. Boss, we are only making 50% revenue on these, well short of 100%.

Looks like the board will axe $500 from your upcoming performance bonus.

        • Chief Janitor here. We just wanted to sweep out the unwanted staff-sale leftovers.

        • Chief Electrical Engineer here. Just checking - is your fridge running?

      • "thought sharing on Ozbargain is the ideal place for that sort of thing."

Haha. Not really. Pricing is crazy, despite on "clearance".

      • One problem with this logic. Ozb'ers are not fools. They are going to see through this ploy and call you out for desperately trying to flog a dead horse.

There have been some real amazing deals done here through employees/owners of companies. This is just a joke, and you took time and effort to make it, which makes it even worse!

        • 58 people disagree with you 🤷‍♂️

          • @Jolakot: Each neg vote cancels out 100 positive ones, so based on the negs so far, you are up telstra creek without a paddle

            • @eman resu:

you are up telstra creek without a paddle

The beauty of the Telstra network is that at least I'll still have signal up there 😂

              Wherever We Go…

              • @Jolakot: Listen here Jokealot. Telstra ripped me off for many years and I am now saving $80+ on my new mobile phone plan. So don't give us the bullsh1t.

              • @Jolakot: Went camping in a secluded valley last weekend in the rain and Vodafone network was slow but worked while Telstra was non-existent.

                Pot takes Kettle mmm…

      • its telstra though they always want to screw you.

  • Sorry Telstra, you aint gaining any "friends" by these poor deals.

  • Pixel Buds were cheaper a year ago :(

    • Pixel Buds Pro 2 were cheaper a year ago!

Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 $99 Delivered, $113 Delivered.

      • I picked them up for $113 a year ago.
Didnt even realize this wasn't the Pro 2's. Even worse.

        • Oh wow. I bought them too. Don’t realise this one’s the older model. Shit deal!

      • Yep me too.
All the Apple stuff on the PDF I say they’re dreaming. Showing a four year old RRP which we never would have paid anyways as the starting point is just wrong

  • Taking the piss calling this a clearance sale.

Many items on this list were cheaper years ago.

    • This seems to be the trend at many stores now. For most companies marketing departments "clearance" is just another way to fool customers that may not know the historical price points. This is just another example of big companies treating us like we're idiots. They need to think twice before posting BS clearance deals on OB!

  • There's nothing great on the list. It needs further 30% off to make it ozbargain worthy.

This ain't a clearance sale, just a standard sale.

  • Meh. The Pixel Buds Pro were good when I first got them, but the left ear doesn't hold charge as well as the right now for some reason, and it's not an isolated issue. Apparently common with them.

    • Could be the ear.

    • Same - need to charge wirelessly, as USB-C charging doesnt always work on mine.

      • Yeah I've moved on to the Nothing Ear (a) and they've been awesome. NC isn't as good, but seems more reliable.

  • Thank you for posting this. I actually saw the Belkin boostcharge travel hybrid which would have come in handy for a trip I'm taking, but saw that JB has it for the same price. If you hadn't posted though I wouldn't have thought about it, which I appreciate.

  • This isn't a good deal IMO. This is the OG Gen 1 Pixel Buds Pro which came out many years ago (I think at least 3-4 years ago from memory). I picked one up many years ago for about this price.

Current models are the Pixel Buds Pro 2.

  • Bring back the Telstra Family and Friends plan.

  • Load of junk they can't sell elsewhere…

  • 18 upvotes but not from anyone in the comment section is gold 😅

    • Typical ozb voting mechanism, most of them are bots maybe, especially on Ali deals.

      • There are no bots voting. Let's not spread unfounded theories just because people vote a certain way.

        • You should remove that automatic revoke of negative vote when others downvoting the comments.

Let negative vote stays regardless same like comments.

Also remove the max 5 negative votes, let negative votes take free rein.

Most of your votes should have the 'real' number of negative votes.

          Its OzBargain, not OzAdvertising upvotes.

          • @RTX9090Ti:

You should remove that automatic revoke of negative vote when others downvoting the comments.

No, our data indicates it's working as directed. See #

        • Just look at your front page, all full of positive votes, not a single negative votes as they clearly being revoked to oblivion by other 'users'.

common users should be able to see the negative votes and what it is about, not being censored.

          • @RTX9090Ti: The front page is all the deals that are popular due to a high amount of net votes.

common users should be able to see the negative votes and what it is about, not being censored.

            They can.

            • @neil: Please keep the rules consistent, i.e. that negging a users comment requires a reply to the comment

              • @justtoreply: Truly awful idea.

Would you have liked 4 (number of negs on your comment right now) replies reiterating that they think this is a terrible idea? What about on political threads, where comments can have >100 negs?

That would lead to pages and pages of comments no-one cares about. It would get boring fast, and add a bunch of useless garbage to the comments that could otherwise have useful deal info.

                • @SpainKing: Yes, because you're incorrect. Either you post something useful and valid, or your neg gets revoked

                  • @justtoreply: Are you going to be the arbiter of whether every comment neg is useful and valid or gets revoked?

The mods have enough work to do. They're not going to implement a system that increases their workload and makes the site worse for the sake of keeping the rules consistent just because you said please/feel like they should

Either you post something useful and valid, or your neg gets revoked

Looks like they'll be revoking all your negs

            • @neil: I wouldn't suggest bots, rather dummy or astroturf accounts (if the votes aren't authentic). My old retail manager at Coles Brunswick used to give us extra 15 minute odd breaks and a few other small perks quid pro quo for filling out glowing reviews of the store.

Just to say that votes, marketing etc. can be easily manipulated.

              • @Skinnerr: Yes, agree Skinnerr, sockpuppeting and astroturfing is a never ending issue and requires much moderation time to investigate these. But bots, no. 20 deals were removed in March due to sockpuppeting per stats

Many of the sockpuppted deals were investigated due to reports from members. So out of all the positive voters on this deal, members can see all of their comments, what they've voted on and how old their account is. Any suspicious activity should be reported so we can investigate.

                Coles Brunswick

Hey, my local! I went into Woolies the other day and they finally add self checkout. Probably the last Woolworths in the country to not have it.

      • The voter accounts are listed here:

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/960535/votes

Which of those are the 'bots'?

        • You can scan them using AI.

          • @RTX9090Ti: Okay.

You stated that most of the voters are 'bots, maybe', that would mean at least 15 or so at the time of your comment, can you name just a few?

              • @RTX9090Ti: Try WP. Their mods are borderline crazy.

              • @RTX9090Ti: That's unfortunate that you won't tell us just some of the bots who are voting, especially since you insinuated that most could be bots!

In reality we are doing our job. Your accusation stated that OzB has a voting mechanism and most of them could be bots, which you then did not provide any basis, details or example of.

              • @RTX9090Ti: The mod didn't deflect your questions. By the way, I can see your comment which received -12 neg votes (just click on unhide).

From my personal experience, I can tell you mods do have the stats and information to tell a lot more about the votes than you think. They try not to interfere, but if someone is doing dodgy stuff, they know and will do something about it. If you can provide evidence on which votes were made by BOTs (you can tell who + voted the deal), mods can check and ban them. However, if you don't, then don't provide misinformation.

The fact that this deal already has -12 neg votes shows the system is working as intended. There is no point BOT voting an OZB deal, majority of OZBers will neg vote the deal to even things out (and honestly, OZB mods CAN tell). Let me give you a hint, don't underestimate OZB and OZB mods.

                • @netsurfer: It is clear he has no idea what he is talking about

    • I wish we could down vote the whole post like Slick deals in the US. There should be a measurement of how this is absolutely not a deal worthy to be posted on OzB.

      • See voting guidelines:

You can negative vote the deal while assisting the community in pointing out a better deal or simply don't vote for the deal.

        • Thanks, I have negged my first "deal" on OzBargain. I don't get why there are over 50 positive votes for this post. Are members just "acknowledging" the post and being courteous? We're clearly being taken for fools here. Perhaps members need to be clearly informed that pseudo deals such as this need to be negged. Then hopefully in future companies will think twice about using this community to just post adverts camouflaged as clearance deals. Although the comments here are super helpful.

          • @Rebsphere: Based on comments I would speculate (as a member, not talking on behalf of OzBargain), that some thought the example item in the title was Buds Pro 2. Secondly I think friends and family as the sale name, could give the expectation of better deals than what is on offer. Thirdly it might not be great prices historically from what I looked at, but you can see in one comment at least, that it can be a good price for those wanting something now and did not get it in the past.

It goes both ways though, some good deal can miss out on votes because of misconceptions or similar.

The voting system is a good general/broad indicator but it's not perfect, there will be anomalies both ways. We still need to check comments and do our own research.

          • @Rebsphere: I have not + vote this deal, but I did get a freebie because of this deal being posted (because I have some spare Telstra Plus points). Normally, I don't have enough points to get anything, but with the price reduction, I was able to get a free case and screen protector (free postage and Telstra has already notified me the item has been posted).

The link to the PDF is useful even if you found nothing worthwhile. It is faster than searching through Telstra Web site.

  • "Family, Friends & Staff" = FFS .. yes indeed

  • Galaxy S23 256GB for $649? I got a Galaxy S25 256GB for ~$820 from the Samsung EPP store just last week

    • Wow~ the S23 is a massive $40 cheaper than my S26 256GB!

  • They are trying to clear 2023 stock by calling it an "exclusive" deal. Look at the prices:

Galaxy S23 Ultra (2023 model): $949. You can get a newer S25 for the same money.
Z Fold 5 (3-year-old foldable): $1,399. High risk of screen failure for a premium price.
Accessories: The "$10" cases are just standard market prices with a fake "RRP" inflated to $50 to make it look like a deal.
This isn’t a discount; it’s a clearance sale at inflated prices for old tech disguised as a staff perk. Don’t fall for it.

Down Down law suit should apply here!

  • This is rubbish….consumers are not this stupid nowadays….don't waste your time…if you are gonna clear very outdated products….then you need to further half the prices…Telstra Days used to do better deals but now they dont do it any more….instead…ridiculous pricing….

  • $649 for a S23? come on mate… stop humiliate us.

  • I can tell you that even Telstra staff are extremely disappointed with this ‘sale’ the older Telstra only deals were WAY get better. I think some manager discovered that they could try to shift old stock this way… the only reason it’s on Ozbargain now is because they aren’t shifting this crap after it was posted to staff days/weeks ago

    • Was very disappointing

  • With friends like this who needs enemies?

  • ewww very old stock

  • Really good deal. Purchased some pixel pros. Thank you

    • They are the OLD pixel pro. Bad deal.

      • Where can I get them at a cheaper price or even the same price for that matter?

        • No point transacting comments if you're happy. Hope you enjoy them

        • pro buds 2’s were $99 last time :(

        • Not if you're only looking at the Google pixel buds pro because they are now 4 years old and most retailers cleared their stock ages ago.

Personally I would have gone for the Samsung galaxy buds 3 which are currently 97$ from Officeworks and around 140 elsewhere, better sound, ANC and don't have to deal with any battery degradation from long term storage.

          • @alteyez: Fair point. It is for my son. He is happy with this product for himself.

  • Don’t worry Telstra treats its own staff the same way they are treating you with this deal…. Like crap and idiots… Viki is looking forward to cutting staff by 50% with her AI crusade

    • With AI meaning "An Indian", they are moving so many jobs offshore

      • Sure does…. ‘Strategic Partnership’ means selling out Australian jobs

  • There are no bargains here, what a terrible way to treat friends

  • Galaxy S9 tab at $949? @paulpavs Stand up to whoever’s asking you to past this mate, ask them to have some shame.

  • Can I say that there are people who create unlimited dummy accounts everytime they are going to post a comment. By that premise, it wouldnt surprise me if there are people who use that to also artificially upvote deals.

    • You can see the list of upvoters, which of them are dummy accounts? I had a quick flick through and most of the accounts are 10+ years old, so must be a long con 🤔

      • And how many of them upvoters bothered to comments here? I counted maybe 5 or so out of 58.

      • Yes I know people who have made many dummy accounts over the years and kept them .

        • Should report them to the mods (to ban those accounts).

It goes both ways, with most people + voted this deal not commenting, the negative comments are prominent throughout.

      • They aren't speaking so the silence is deafening. The only long con is you, trying for so long to convince everyone it's legit and flog us your old overpriced crap that no one else wants. A real show of force of the status quo of Australian fallen industry giants - trying to polish a turd and selling it back to us. Pathetic.

        • If someone has lots of Telstra Plus points, they could benefit from this deal. I had some unused Telstra Plus points, with the price rise of prepaid kits, I can't use those points even on the cheapest prepaid SIM. However, I was able to get a case and screen protector. I wasn't expecting to be able to get anything from Tel$tra with tiny amount of points.

Most people who + voted this deal have been long time OZBers, and the location spread appears okay (Sydney (NSW) and Melbourne (VIC) being majority is understandable). OZB does actively block Telstra staff from voting on a Telstra deal.
