  • Waiting for a deal on base iPad.

    • same, waiting the base model to get below $500

      • I've regularly seen the base (A16) iPad for around $500.

In fact, the Apple Refurbished store often has the base A16 iPad for $509 (including shipping), and they're indistinguishable from brand-new versions. You can use discounted Apple gift cards to get under the $500 figure.

Last time I needed a new iPad, I just checked the Apple Refurbished store, and after a couple of weeks, a batch came in.

        • $549 is the lowest, driven by severe global shortage of RAM and SSD memory

          • @maggiemee: I bought one from the Apple Refurbished store for $509 four weeks ago. At the time, a large batch came in with various colours and storage capacities. A week after ordering mine, they still had most options in stock.

There don't seem to be any units in stock right now (they usually appear in large batches then sell out in a couple of weeks). However, the Refurb store generally offers a flat 15% discount on iPads, so it's worth keeping an eye out to see if any units appear.

          • @maggiemee: You should’ve seen the office works and Costco shenanigans, got mine for ~470

    • same.

      Found this $509.99: https://www.techinthebasket.com.au/apple-ipad-11th-gen-2025-…

Not sure if OW will price match, it looks like an AU company with AU stock. If OW does, that will bring it below $500

  • Macbook Neo at $719.2 may be a better choice.

    • Breville the Barista Express® Coffee Machine at $598 may be an even better choice

      • i don't know man those grinders are pretty terriable good coffee machine over all though.

        • The barista pro has better grinders but doesnt come preloaded with apple os

        • I tried using Grindr to get my coffee on my iPad and it was unexpected. Turned out he's a barista so actually better coffee than expected.

      • you just know its inevitable someone will hack the machine to integrate a display so they can play doom or skyrim on it

    • How can you buy macbook neo at 719?
Can you please give me the link?

    • Just fyi, Apple’s AOC program (where you’re getting the price from) is going to shut down on 28th May, so I’d recommend getting in quick if you REALLY want to buy the MacBook Neo at this price.

  • 60hz FTW

      • This is a common misconception.
Basically, the human eye doesn't view things in frames.

        • yep, some good science there, eg:

As film Historian Mark Schubin explains, economic incentives played a role too, as faster projection allowed theaters to “get more shows into the day”.

      • cmon lets not insult other peoples intelligence with that comment gramps

      • not sure how did you type these while you can't see…

  • Note this is the M3. The current system me is the M4.
The M3 is still $829 at Officeworks in some colours so you could try a price beat.

    • Yes limited colour at OW.
I was looking for purple and got it price matched at JB and used extra 5 % GC for JB.

      • From where did you get JB GC with 5% off?

        • I got it from my work reward app. Bupa also have the gift card for 4.5% RACV have 6 % I think . Worth checking if any of your insurance ( health, car or home )have any GC deals.

  • How many GBs?

  • Throw it into the air… see what happens!!!

  • I'm still waiting for delivery of my 2TB iPad pro for $299 via JB hi-fi Amazon store

    • I heard that snake oil helps expedite the delivery process

    • i understood that reference

  • so annoying the Wifi models dont have GPS - really dont need cellular model but need GPS (4wd mapping)

    • yeah, the good old days when we can navigate on a wifi ipad with loaded maps… apple is not who they were…long gone

    • You could use an external GPS receiver via bluetooth on a wifi only ipad. The Garmin GLO 2 is technically more accurate than the internal GPS chip of a cellular iPad, particularly in terms of refresh rates, signal lock speed, and extreme environments. GPS + GLONASS (24+ more satellites). You can then use it on any WIFI Ipad in the future rather than keep buying cellular models when you upgrade.

  • Wonder if it will be even cheaper as got one last year for just under 750 on eBay

  • There is 15% off 13" models too.

  • Costs aside, it is worth noting the battery life on the Ipad Air 11" is a lot less than that of the iPad Pro 11". There are comparision videos on youtube anyone is interested.

    • What's funnier is the iPad Pro is lighter than iPad Air

  • Thanks OP. All good with the Officeworks price beat

  • For another $103 you can get m4
    https://www.digidirect.com.au/apple-ipad-air-11-m4-wi-fi-128…
    Code: MAY5

    • A bit more based on OW pricebeat and you can get OW discounts via Samsung wallet. However if you have Amex, digi direct could work out to hlbe about $850

      • Could you please let us know how to get OW discount via Samsung wallet? I couldn't find OW gift card over there.

        • It's part of the multi card ones, ultimate cards

    • Thanks! bought the ipad base model from digiDirect with MAY5
after code is $524.59, then getting $50 cashback from AMEX
making it $474.59 out of pocket cost

  • Biggest gripe for the Air imo is no Face ID and no ProMotion. I think surviving without ProMotion is okay but no Face ID is seriously an interesting choice (even with the current gen)

Want to replace my A12Z Pro 12.9" soon since iPadOS 26 runs like… something. But quite frankly I don't want to give up ProMotion or Face ID yet, and I'm not shelling out more than a MacBook Pro (M5) for a Pro 13" with a similar spec.

  • How much in reality does it cost them to add 4/5g considering most of the infrastructure is already in the device and the price of cheap phones out there with this tech?

  • Lol no face id and no GPS then which model got those? They stripped out features ?

    • That's what the iPad pro cellular is for.

      • Yeah costs a lot more

  • Re the GPS question — I picked up a WiFi iPad mini last year and pair it with a Garmin GLO 2 running OziExplorer for bushwalking. The external GPS is actually more accurate than the cellular version's built-in GPS, and you don't have to second-guess whether to pay extra for cellular every time you upgrade. For anyone who only needs GPS outdoors occasionally, this setup saves $200-300 versus the cellular model — more than enough to cover this Air.
