"Learn how to confidently respond in an emergency and potentially save a life with the Nationally Accredited Certification HLTAID011 - PROVIDE FIRST AID INCLUDING CPR, delivered by Results First Aid Training on Sunday 14th June 2026 in Ascot Vale, VIC, from 10am - 3:30pm."

It's sponsored by Melbourne Scientology Volunteer Ministers.but the course itself is conducted by a company called Results First Aid Training which seems to be a legitimate training company.

I'm sure there'll be Scientologists before and/or after the course offering brochures on their "religion" and I've had friends suggest I give it a miss but I'm a big boy and know how to say "thanks but no thanks".

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Each participant must complete the online e-learning section of the course BEFORE arriving for the practicals and necessary assessments on this day. Anyone who has not completed the online learning will not be issued a Certificate of Attainment for HLTAID011 PROVIDE FIRST AID INCLUDING CPR.

    CPR training is useful. It is costly if you're broke AF but this really does seem like a recruitment exercise for Scientologists. It feels as dangerous as following a bloke into the bush to look for his "missing" puppy.

      From a shadowy organisation that pays no tax with a history of stalking 'apostates' and no scruples other than money and power. And I bet my last dollar after this training course is done the hard sell for something else comes. Go do it at TAFE or other stand alone training org.

      Agreed especially with Scientology’s history of going against mainstream science and medicine

      (Though for clarification, drug free trauma management actually is useful, like a pelvic binder, but I don’t think this is what is being offered)

    Ignoring the scientology bit…

    The First Aid Course usually goes for $60 to $80 when on sale, a quick search on Ozbargain shows the last deal cost $80 from First Responders Academy.

    If you need this course as part of your work, happen to live in Vic, and considering it might be tax deductable as part of your work expenses, it's actually not a bad deal. You even get a free lunch and free tea / coffee on the day.

    Just resist the urge to be converted if you don't want to be a scientologist. You could listen to this to see if you can build up a tolerance to religious conversion.

      I would be fine if this was run by the Catholic Church, or any other mainstream religion. It just feels wrong to pay Scientology church any money when they are so against mainstream science.

    I distinctly remember these people showing up on our doorstep many, many, many times after my older (but not wiser) brother signed up to something with this mob.
    It took the physical threats from some rather unsavoury people we knew to persuade them to stop coming.

    I'd love to do it, but the real cost is far more than I'm willing to pay!

    My first aid is actually due to expire in a couple of weeks, I wasn't going to bother redoing it (don't intend to be working in a relevant field for some time), but the Scientology part of this is very tempting. What an odd combination.

      Pretty sure the $20 is less than the training company charge the Scientologists per attendee so technically you’d be receiving money FROM a cult 😎

      I did one of their silly “IQ tests” back in the 80’s when I was younger and less cynical and I was able to resist their charms then so I’m confident I’ll be able to do it again 😎

    Having known someone who wound up in Scientology, no f-ing way. Once they have your name they will keep at you.

    Don’t think they’ll just let you do the training and piss off, the whole cult is structured around sucking people in and never letting them go.

      Apart from doing one of their “Free IQ tests” I’ve read and watched a bit about this so-called religion over the years and one thing I’ve learnt is if you show any skepticism about their crazy beliefs that they don’t want you.

      They only hassle people who were members and leave.

      I don’t fear them and have no problem letting them pay for most of my First Aid certification.

      Absolutely.
      They’ve had so much negative stuff written about them lately, high profile people leaving them and I believe the SouthPark episode a few years back really hurt them.

      To be honest another reason I’m drawn to doing the course there is I’ve always been curious what their place on Mt Alexander Rd looks like from the inside 😎
