Telstra 5G Meteor2 Modem Router Compatible for nbn FTTP?

Hi everyone

Currently with Telstra 5g Home internet and supplied wth Meteor2 modem router. Completed 2 years so i can keep the router.

Want to switch to nbn fttp 500/50 speed plan. Is the router i'm having is compatible as I see there is ethernet wan mode along with mobile wan.

What configuration changes are needed. I have iot devices like solar pv, shelly connected, tapo etc dont want to reconfigure them again to new wifi , preferably not intended to buy another router as range is suffice for my house and my needs.

Dont find much info on the modem router, appreciate your suggestions.

Thanks

  • For reference, apparently the Testra 5G Home Modem 2 (AW1000) is an Arcadyan Meteor.

Chipset & Module: Qualcomm IPQ8072A with Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 RG500Q-EA
    Wi-Fi Technology: Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax) with AX3600 (up to 3.6 Gbps total bandwidth)
    Ethernet Ports: 4 x Gigabit LAN ports and 1 x 2.5Gbps WAN/LAN port
    Connections: 1 x USB 3.0 port and 1 x Voice/Phone port.
Antenna Ports: 2 x SMA ports for optional external 5G/LTE antennas.

To access it type 192.168.0.1 into the address bar on your browser, default password is Telstra

  • looks like it might work - it has a wired WAN port on the back of it from what i've been able to google.
you'd most likely need to log into it's web configuration and change the connection type from 5G to Ethernet WAN, but it otherwise should work OK.

if you don't end up keeping it but still want all your wifi devices to connect to a new router - just set the wifi name & password & any other security settings (eg: WPA2) on a new router to exactly the same as your old settings and all the client devices will just connect to the new one happily.
