      Companies put the price up way before rebate went up. Rebate only counts when connected to vpp not when stock ordered.

      Sort of - that's how economics works. because rebates fuel demand, but competition still exists (in general, the consumer gets around 60% of the benefit and the suppliers pocket 40%). the clusterf*ck is when demand is already through the roof and rebates are added by gov - eg first home owners grants and COVID-era grants for home renovations.

    I’ve had Rob @ Kenny Solar install at two of our properties. Both systems run well. After sales has been good in both cases. Also recommended them to a friend who has been happy with them too.

    Hi,

    Yes it can be but still requires the sungrow hybrid inverter.

    You keep the current solar inverter and add:

    • Sungrow battery inverter/hybrid configured for AC coupling
    • SBH battery

    In this setup:

    • Existing inverter still runs solar
    • New hybrid inverter charges/discharges battery from AC side

    Stay vigilant. Sungrow battery systems preference the grid. Don't buty this shit if you expect it to compensate for a lack of solar generation. It prefers to consume grid electricity rather than discharge a fully charged battery that had nothing else to do. The firmware is absolute trash and would rather pull from the grid than use the battery you foolishly purchased to avoid that. In short, AVOID Sungrow!

      This sounds like your system has been configured incorrectly as I haven't had this issue at all on my setup (sungrow SBR batteries).

      On an average day my system only pulls 0.2 to 0.3 kwh from the grid, which is the nominal amount for the inverter to stay synced with the grid.

      I also find the Sungrow app great and easy to use. Have you tried reaching out to a sungrow technician or your battery installer ?

        Yes, have reached out to both sungrow and the installer made many visits, we did many tests over a number of weeks, made adjustments, rewired to remove while house backup, reinstalled the smart metre they previously removed.
        Sungrow claims it's normal behaviour and it's working as designed and that the system can't measure loads below 300w.
        Despite a full battery and careful usage it still preferences the grid and uses ~1kwh from the grid per day.
        It works well off grid or once they sun goes down.

          Drawing only 1kwh from the grid per day is still not much energy, but still greater than what should be needed to sync with the grid.

          Honesty, this would annoy me too, I would be pushing back on Sungrow/installer, and compare what the app is reporting vs the detailed csv report you can get from your energy provider.

            @Bmaca: Thanks for the suggestion. We did exactly that, analysing the app data vs retailer data over 3 months trying to have it fixed, sungrow always fall back on "it's working correctly", they're either clueless or lazy. The installer was good with the troubleshooting approach but also couldn't get any real answers from sungrow.
            App data on average shows 0.2kwh grid use, retailer ~1kwh. Data from both sides prior to the battery install it was all pretty close, purchasing about 2-3kwh/day, yes extremely low and that's why still importing 1kwh with the battery is so annoying.
