Did you know that your cat and dog can donate blood to save lives? Yes, even animals require blood transfusions!

If your dog:

  • Is healthy and up-to-date with vaccinations, heartworm prevention and worming
  • Is aged between 1-7 years old
  • Weighs at least 17kg and is not overweight
  • Has a friendly demeanour

If your cat:

  • Has good disposition
  • Weighs at least 4 kg. Not overweight
  • Between 1 to 8 years of age

Then they're eligible to donate blood!

In return you'll get a:

  • vet check
  • blood test
  • a gift of your choice (Royal Canin pet food, parasite treatment, or vaccination)

SASH has locations in: Alexandria, North Ryde, Northern Beaches, Western Sydney, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.

Technically not a "deal" but I hope this can spread awareness that cats and dogs can donate blood, and times are tough for a lot of people this is a great way to save money on your feline or canine friend's vaccination or get some food.

        Well it's one thing if I take a baby to fix a cut on its arm, it's another thing if I take a healthy baby to get it's blood extracted

      I mean, define good?
      My cat is a jerk, doesn't pay tax, and despises my children, but… she hasn't killed in aaaages, so she has that going for her.

      Fails the other points though, she's robust and old AF, her hatred keeps her going.

    Our black labrador used to donate regularly at Sash, probably 6-7 times before he passed the maximum age. Was a pleasure to do it and he was always treated well.

      Nothing like a transfusion of whatever diseases the street cat has while your animal is already in dire straits.

        Most street cats are healthy except for undernourishment if that.

        Ferals are usually in the wild like bush cats. Can be very large and healthy except for worms etc.

        With cat laws etc less fleas etc. it would better if they could get them a home or run a cat sanctuary/cafe.

        They could get blood in exchange for care of the cats. That would be a good deal for many.
