  • Hey Rep the AC180 has been $759 recently https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/950385 I see this is the 'T' version so swappable battery but I doubt many would care about that because you would need the specific cooler and few have it.
    Anker are really killing you guys on price for a similar product (just below your deal). Need a sharper pencil :)

    • To be fair, this $999 unit has 1488Wh and the one you posted that was $759 is only 1152Wh.

      Still the $999 Anker at over 2000Wh is clearly the winner by a country mile. Absolutely needs to sharpen the pencil to get more bites!

  • Does it support Time-of-Use (TOU) mode?

    • Was gonna ask this. I am interested in these batteries, but it's a no-go for me if it doesn't have TOU. Cos want to charge it off the mains (using solar panels) in the middle of the day.

      Cos i'm trying to offset some of my home appliance usage at night without buying a home battery.

      • I didn't see Time of Use mentioned in the user manual, so I would guess no.

            I thought the Anker I posted once had it, but turns out Gen 1 anker's were pretty limited in the app (even though listing similar features to Ecoflow such as cycles).

            • @skibidigrimacmoggr67: Thanks mate appreciate it, I know that the C1000/C2000 Gen 2 at least have TOU but not Gen 1 like you say.

              I think the new DJI 1000 Mini or whatever it's called that just came out also has TOU

              Either way, makes the options pretty limited..

                but from what I learned it's not quite how it will work.

                personally I am aware Lifepo4 prices have dropped a huge amount in china months ago (even grade A) so was waiting to see newer Ecoflow unit have big price drop sales like this.

      • Cos want to charge it off the mains (using solar panels) in the middle of the day.

        when the Lifepo4 prices come down I had the same idea, leave it plugged into mains. the place i live has solar to the 240V wall. schedule charge during the day, and use battery during the evening.

        but from my research seems like this is not as simple as I thought. these are really designed to charge with solar panel connected, with AC a convenience.

        apparently due to ground safety issues, even the Ecoflow power station cannot discharge the battery while the wall AC is plugged and switched on. it can only pass through energy, and to switch on the Power station inverter and start using battery, the wall AC needs to be turned off.
        so you can do this with a smart plug scheduled, but afaik smart plugs do not last very long with high watts for example to charge a power station. so what I found was the scheduling doesn't quite work right even if the App supports it, it really designed to schedule with solar panel connected.

        I'm happy to be corrected. have asked related questions to people on ozb multiple times but never got an answer. it seems to be something many don't quite know about.

            haven't used the Ecoflow, as I said I planned to buy when prices drop by a huge amount (expecting 50c per Wh or less).

            Ecoflow is the most technically well designed unit. 48V battery inside (how they wire the cells together). UPS achieved better than claimed 10ms as stated <10ms. advanced control through App (such as scheduling).

            but it's apparently how these are inside that they just cannot have wall AC connected and on, and discharge the battery at the same time, it's just not possible even on the Ecoflow's. so not much hope any other brands below it can do it.
            edit: Ecoflow actually sells what is called a "grounding adapter" specfically for their power stations as a "temp" fix. but all this does it communicates with the power station and cuts the AC power so the power station inverter can be switched on (and use battery). it's no different to turning off the wall AC. and apparently is not "hassle hands free", you need to manually engage AC power again. <— just some extra info to help your researching.

            another thing I learned is pay attention to the battery voltage that's inside if you want it to last. I found out Voltx ones are all wired 24V. this means more amps which = more heat. everything inside wires etc need to be thicker, but at the same time there is more risk of overheating and failure. better to get a 48V power station like Ecoflow's.

              I do wonder though like I heard Anker may have auto shut off settings, so could one turn the station off at say 6pm, and then discharge the battery. Then turn it back on to use AC mains power during the day at 12pm etc..

                that's the thing AC mains power needs to be manually turned off and on. which can be done with smart plug, but from what I heard anything over 1000W~1800W regularly, and months later you may find the plug didn't switch on, or worse somehow stuck in a on/off cycle and damage the power station.

                I have seen in tests of some power stations of UPS function. the reverse is tested, the power station is already on, and the mains can be switch on and the power station continues to run a computer (not all do btw). but in this scenario the guy is still switching the wall AC on and off manually for the test.

                it seems the power station itself (even TOTL ones) cannot be in control. when you read the power stations feature to "restore, auto switch on AC" this refers to a situation, where the power station runs out of battery and cuts out (no power coming out) then the connected solar panels (DC not wall AC) begin to recharge the power station, the app setting can make the AC inverter swtich on again automatically, powering devices.

                so maybe I try to put it simply, they are designed for Solar panels directly connected, not permanently connected to wall AC.

                    especially if you are planning to run something non stop, like I did, a fridge.

                    spend some time researching this area. because from what i learned it was not going to work in my situation.

                    ok I just rememebered something I learned recently. look into this, and if it will work with the exact power station you plan to buy.

                    some people have managed to find a high quality high voltage (48V+) AC>DC power adapter. with a solar input connection for power station. this can be plugged into the power station solar input, and run on a smart plug/timer. the charge speed is dramatically slower than AC charging. and caution needs to taken to buy a very good power adapter, incase of overheat and failure (which can be pretty bad apparently with these AC>DC chargers). but in this scenario the power station just thinks it's getting solar panel directly connected, and can keep the inverter on constantly. with battery discharge available when the DC cuts off.

                        but it is more of a "workaround" then a perfect solution. I think the maximum you can get with one solar input on a high end power station is about 600W~700W charge speed. you can use two if there are two solar inputs, but then there is double the risk with the charger.

                        I would only really consider this last resort, and make sure I bought the AC>DC charger from reputable brand with Australian certification etc. something random from amazon or aliexpress may melt itself. because these chargers are really designed for up and down power (for a common house device for example) and not designed to output the maximum constantly. to be on the even safer side, if power station accepts 700W I would get something rated for 900W~1000W so you are never running it at maximum = less heat.

                        from what I know, one very reliable power supply brand is Meanwell. they even have special product series for hospital/medical equipment. but they do not make one with a solar connector output, which means you would need to change the wire/plug yourself, which I do not recommend in case of failure.

                        anyway good luck on your research. it is easy to fall into marketing and believe it will work just as you require/intended.

            • @skibidigrimacmoggr67: My Bluetti Elite 100 V2 is plugged into mains full time with mains on. It charges the battery between 9am-4pm and discharges between 4pm - 9pm. It internally switches mains on and off as required to pass through, charge and pass through or disconnects for battery only. My Elite 30 V2 requires the mains be turned off before turning the unit off. I haven't hooked up a solar panel to it yet.

                ok and the Elite 100 V2 does all this without power interruption?

                I actually looked it up now, and apparently the newer Ecoflow Delta 3 model does have a mode called "Disable grid bypass/Self Powered mode" which can cut the Wall AC power connection with software (App) apparently. It must be a new feature added with a software update since it did not come up in my research when I was learning everything. Ecoflow even sells a plug in accessory which does the same thing, but as an adapter that connects to the power station software.
                you just have to set the minimum reserve level % and I assume it works like how I think it does by switching between wall AC power to battery power (inverter on) without power interruption, and at specific times you need to avoid peak electricity bills.

                Delta 2 can't do it apparently it only has "Emergency Power supply" mode (EPS) and cannot cut the wall AC power with software. This is what I was reading at the time.

                the grounding question still remains though. for appliance/devices that have the third metal connection in the 240V plug. apparently when a power station is plugged into wall AC outlet and the outlet is on, the connection passes through the house's ground to the power station, but as soon as you disconnect the wall AC->turn on the power station inverter and use it's battery, that ground becomes "floating ground" which means it's not connected to anything. and I can't remember specifically but this switching of ground to floating and back again is a problem for some appliances/devices.

                from my research this can present a issue, for appliances that have ground connection. a EV charger for example, will refuse to charge after detecting safety issues (I'm guessing if there is $60k connected to the other end they take no chances). but not every appliance is as smart, so what happens to other expensive appliances that have a ground connection? afaik ground is important because if there is any fault or high surge of energy, it can pass through ground safely without damaging the appliance or power station.

                • @skibidigrimacmoggr67: No interruptions at all. I've got my 77" OLED TV, PC and a couple of small things plugged into a 5 plug power board that is then plugged into the Bluetti. I've had zero issues.

              • @Elyxar: adrianhughes referred to plugging a TV, which from what I've seen only has 2 metal connections in the 240V plug, no ground.
                so their situation maybe different.

                in my situation I was wanting a high capacity power station (waiting for Ecoflow Pro series to drop in prices) which I can charge during the day with wall AC plug (solar power on the roof), without power interuption so the PC doesn't die when switching to battery during peak period (e.g. 5pm). but then be able to use with as many uses as possible depending on what needs to be run. so if I need to run the dryer/laundry machine, I can safely shut down the PC, plug the laundry in and run that, apply to any high consumption household appliance/device etc.
