So, this game is back on sale at this price, but I think it's worth getting if you still don't have it, even if it's on Game Pass right now:

Note: this game is available on Game Pass Premium and Ultimate subscriptions.

The base version of The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt for Xbox is here for $11.09 https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/games/store/the-witcher-3-wild-hu… (don't forget to download the free add-ons at the bottom, there's about 16 of them).

  • Will it include the new expansion?

    • I haven't heard of it, what's it called and which platform?

    • Of course not

      • If not it’s ‘incomplete’

  • I think I'm the only person on earth who found this game incredibly dull

    • It can seem start a bit slow but it gets so much better if you stick with it. It's a very big/long game with hundreds of hours of content, but role playing games are not for everyone - they're about the story first and that may not be for people who prefer instant and constant FPS type game play.

      • I love RPGs it's my main genre haha

        • Same. And this is one of the best RPGs around. Definitely one of the top 5 RPGs of all time.

        • Story/character focused rpgs with tons of dialogue and cutscenes such as this? or like Souls rpgs? JRPGs? CRPGs? Pretty big difference between them all and depending on preference its totally understandable to not have enjoyed this.

          • @OzAmore: Of course. I love all RPGs except JRPGs so if people rage about some JRPG I immediately turn off.

But there's tons of JRPGs which are very highly rated, and many people obviously love them.

But I hate them all, I can't stand the Japanese voice-over and reading English subtitles while playing. Also, they look childish to me and I'm really surprised that many adults like them.

Anyway, each to their own. No one HAS to like this game, like you said there's lots of RPGs out there and this game is not going to appeal to everyone. This particular game appeals to most RPG fans, but not all, and that's ok. That's to be expected.

          • @OzAmore: Over the last couples of years i've played and enjoyed:
Clair obscur, final fantasy 12, final fantasy rebirth, cyberpunk, god of war, and balders gate.

Clair obscur and god of war are top 5 all time for me.

I've tried witcher 3 at least 4 or 5 times and always end up dropping it within the first 5 hours

            • @gruffjaguar: That seems to be the hour mark most people drop it. And i get it, that first prologue area is easily the least interesting in the game. Think it usually takes 10-15hrs in when you explore Velen & Novigrad for it to start to click with players who never played the previous games. And if your main issue is the controls or combat and increasing the difficulty didnt make it more interesting then i think its fair to say you've given it enough chances.

    • "Incredibly dull" - Ever played an Ubisoft game before?

    • Once you complete the whole Bloody Baron questline, then it has you hooked. Captivating writing and some of the best voice acting in a video game ever. If it doesn't hook you at that point, then yeah, it won't be a game for you.

    • I did at first. Played a few hours then left it.

Came back for a 2nd try after people recommended sticking with it until you have finished the first area. Did that and loved it.

Played through it again when i got the complete edition. I cant remember the last single player game i played through more than once. Nothing else in the last 10-15 years at least.

  • Is it like assassin's creed type games?
Likely to cause motion sickness in the same way? I can only play for about 45min at a time.

    • No motion sickness. If you like proper storylines this is the game to play :)

    • It's not a stealth game if that's what you mean.

    • If you have the luxury of gaming at 120fps, it makes a huge difference. I get nausea easily from gaming too even at 60fps, but at 120p, it has zero effect on me.
