Just spotted this on my employer-provided Samsung Partner Portal.

Current price is $1,949.35,:

  • Get 5% off your first purchase

  • Get 5% loyalty discount over a chat (if you already have a Samsung product at home)

  • Get $100 off with a trade-in (Throwing my 2019 Hisense 55" in)

That brings the final price down to around $1,665.x

I’ve been eyeing the TCL 75 C8K for a while, but I’ve pretty much lost hope that it’ll drop into this price range, so I’m starting to look at other options.

Haven’t pulled the trigger yet though. Would anyone recommend this over C8K?

  • Quite expensive

  • Would anyone recommend this over C8K?

Hell no. RTINGS scored it a 7.6/10 which is very mediocre.

Whilst Sony and Samsung have good Mini LED TVs, they just can’t compete with TCL offerings.

  • Discount deals on 75" C8K was around $1799. QN80H is this year's model. However, it looks like Samsung did hold back on it as QN90 is the flagship Mini LED for Samsung. It is unfortunate rtings reviews are no longer free.

If you want to go Mini LED, try to get a high end model. Personally, I regret getting a cost effective Mini LED TV. Deep down, it is still either VA/HVA or IPS/ADS panel. At 75 inch and larger, the issues with VA and IPS are more noticeable (each type has its own issues), especially on mid tier models. Mid tier models don't get the best upscaling and at 75 inch, that matters. Samsung supersize picture enhancer is only available on 85 inch or higher. For my Mini LED TV, I can tell where the local dimming zones are and when the room is dark, the blooming annoys me. Turn on the lights does help a lot. The viewing angle annoys me also. For my second TV, I went with OLED. I get the impressive max brightness on proper Mini LED TVs, but for me, I much prefer OLED.

If I must get another mini LED TV, I would wait for the boxing day sale or black Friday sale to get a C8L. Some OZBers got really good deal on display models this year for C8K and Samsung QD-OLED TVs.

    • Yep, Samsung are filth with their panel lottery. I once got screwed over by the QN90A thinking it’s the same VA panel RTINGS reviewed. Had no idea we got a subpar IPS/ADS panel and there was blooming for days. Never again. As far as their QD-OLEDs are concerned however, best OLED tech bar none in my experience. I don’t know why they bother with Mini LED tbh, but maybe they can redeem themselves with Micro RGB. I am keen to see how it compares with Sony’s True RGB.

      • An IPS/ADS panel needs high quality backlight (ain't going to happen for mid tier mini LED TV) and lots of dimming zones is needed for a proper Mini LED TV (it needs to be in the thousands). Even if a 75 inch TV has 2,176 zones, it is basically 68 x 32. As much as I like IPS PC monitors, for TVs, we don't use it to connect to a PC most of the time. I guess for gaming it is okay, but yeah, the blooming is really annoying.

VA… grey uniformity tends to be an issue for mid tier panels and can still see blooming. I reckon Samsung and LG don't want to make their Mini LED TVs too good since they want us to buy their OLED TVs.

      • Most of the 2026 OLEDS are using WOLEDS. I think only the 77" and 42" are proper QD-OLEDS.

        • Yeah, it’s a mixed bag for QD-OLED this year. S90H: 55/65/75
          S95H: 55/65
I tried Tandem WOLED in the G5 after years of avoiding LG and it wasn’t for me. I still prefer the PQ of QD-OLED.

          • @p3r514n: Is that list safe? I am still worried about panel lottery. Samsung prefer to sell more QD-OLED panels so not willing to sell really large TVs with QD-OLED.

rtings review US models. I also encountered the same issue where rtings indicated the TV panel is VA, but the AU version is IPS/ADS. While I generally prefer IPS monitors over VA monitors, these IPS/ADS TVs seem to cut cost on backlight LEDs / Mini-LEDs. In HDR, the brightness is dialed right up so the blooming is quite noticeable. Turn on lights to hide some of that is just a workaround.
