  • Here we go again

    • Hahahaha literally exactly, to the very word, the comment I would have made

  • Attempted this deal 3x, ordered a total of 12 tyres, received a grand total of 0 tyres and 3x apologetic phone calls saying there is no stock available.

    0/10 company do not recommend.

    • I've done the Black Friday 50% off before without problems. YMMV!

      • Got mine in Black Friday sale and got them installed in January without any issues. Also grt the Flybuys

        • Same here no problems.

        • Got mine in black Friday, installed on Saturday morning. No free wheel balance tho

    • I got it price match with Bob Jane T-Marts

      • Will they price match even if the listing for the specific tyre advises to call to check?

    • which tyres are that popular?

      • The ones that fit your car ❓

    • YMMV

    • Hey at least they didn't give you different tyres on different wheels and tried to gaslight you it's fine it's all the same

      Don't recommend.

      • Wow. That can be dangerous and your insurance company wouldn't be impressed.

        • the fine folks at MyCar Preston Northlands would disagree

          • @lawyerz: Same crap happened at MyCar Gungahlin ACT. They put on a cheaper lower speed rated tyre on my car. Still legal, but I specifically ordered and paid for a better quality tyre (preferred tread pattern and speed rating).

Drove back and they arranged to have the proper ones installed without too much grief… gave me the spiel that the ones installed are legal- but that's not the point. I ordered one tyre, and they gave me a cheaper one. Still Pirelli… but not what I ordered. Still makes me wonder how many people check to make sure they get what they pay for in these deals?

            CHECK!

            • @UFO: At least they arranged to fix it. They kept telling me it's fine its the same. I wasn't having it (I paid for the more expensive model tyre and they managed to install different model pierelli tyres on different wheels), they then said oh it's out of stock and will take 6 months, then I said put my back original tyres and give me my money back and voila they found stock in a week's time. Still had to go back 3 times.

              Cowboys, these people.

Thought it was just a once off. You having the same experience shows it might not be. Upgrading to a neg

            • @UFO: when was that ?

do ppl also check DOT/tyre age\?

        • My bmw has different size tyres front and rear and that’s from the factory ….lots of performance cars don’t have same size tyres on all 4 wheels.

          • @garage sale: From factory being the key point, and it's the same tread pattern.

          • @garage sale: not sizing, models, entirely different tyres with different threads.

      • how long ago was that

        • definitely a couple of years now

    • Are you attempting again this year?

      • I’d rather collect rubber scraps from a dumpster in the alley behind a rub and tug massage parlour in an attempt to vulcanise my own tyres than waste any more of my time with this company

        • So the answer is a maybe?

          • @JimB: Yea, didn't sound like a straight no to me either.

    • I am on my 3rd set from BF deals
Ordered on Black Friday, got fitted in Feb

      • On the one car?? Do these tyres wear that fast or you drive extreme km? My tyres has lasted me just over 10 years now

        • One lucky chap you are! 10 years on the same tyre and no issue? Other tyres would've crumpled by now!

          • @Arian10daddy: Yeah they are the factory Continentals. Its over 10 years but I've only driven 70000km on them as I dont drive a lot.

Theres still quite a bit of thread left on 2 of the tyres and I've checked for rubber wear marks on both inner/outer sides and theres literally nothing. Needless to say, I'm a big believer in Continental now haha

    • I can report a great experience with this provider also regarding Black Friday sale - the night before the sale all tyres for my vehicle "disappeared" from the website - I was pretty annoyed as P-Zeros for the Model Y P are around $3700 retail for a set and I had been watching them on their site in anticipation of the sale. My local Mycar made some calls for me, found some somewhere, applied the promotion and I had them fitted without issue on the last day of the promo. They went over and above for me…

  • I hate this, they take all the good tyres off their site for this deal, every damn year

    • so when can we neg this deal then. Sounds like Deal Unobtainable.

      • The last time I negged a deal (also tyre-related, also my first neg), it didn't ask me for a reason… just negged it straight away. This was after years of trying to neg and getting a warning message about needing to have a good reason, at which point, I'd just give up. Just saying, go for it, in case.

        • Just as an FYI - the only time you ever get a warning message about valid negative vote is when you try to neg a post without already having put in comments. If you do a comment prior to the neg then you’ll never see that message.

          • @Slo20: Good to know! Maybe I did that then

    • Even more reason to purchase them on Black Friday for 50% off instead then!

  • No actual sizes for cars which would want pirellis

    • 235/45/17

      • no 305/35/22

    • Have the size no stock for my 2020 bmw 330i, they are 19”, at one stage Pirelli rft was factory fitted.

  • PIRELLI P ZERO (PZ4) (T0) XL ELT NCS 104Y
    255/45 R19 104Y

    RRP $775 ea????

$466 ea after discount, can you show some real discount?

    • even jax has those tyres at $500.

      https://www.jaxtyres.com.au/tyres/pirelli/p-zero-pz4?sku=pi2…

least i think theyre the same.

i've done their blackfriday version before and it was a deal, this been enshittified?

        • "budget tyre"

          P Zero??? Budget Tyre??? M…

    • I am in the market for this specific size tyre and thanks for positing this message.
I may just go with Kumho TA91 255/55/R19
From Bob Jane instead waiting for this 50% off pirelli deal…

  • Just go to other tyre shop and be done with it

    • I found Pirelli Powergy in size i need are approx 40% cheeper somewhere else. Maybe unlucky the size is not common. Best to check the price is competitive. I actually need 2 tyres next couple of months but will look for other brands. They dont have the P8 which i really wanted. Not easy to find that Pirelli tyre in my area…

      • If you happen to have found them on one of the big online tyre sales places, did you notice that they don't include fitting these days, while MyCar prices do?

I found cheap tyres too. But by the time fitting was added in, they were only 15% cheaper. So this deal will be the winner.

  • Waited 2 months for my appointment and was nonchalantly told in store they didn’t have the tyres I ordered in stock when I finally show up. Then to add insult to injury I’m told the tyres recommended by the site using my rego don’t suit my car. Then I’m told the right tyres will be more expensive. Complete waste of time.

0/10 experience topped off by the people who work there talking down to me like I made the issue. Absolute clownshow of a business. Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere.

  • Is Jack working at Mycar Tyre & Auto now? Its $199 at tempe tyres for scorpion ms 225 65 17 102h and $299 at mycar . So , is it a case of Jack up then discount not on RRP ?

    • Yeah, I noticed the Scorpion is much cheaper elsewhere but after the 40% discount, nowhere else comes close.

  • i went in the other day to mycar.. i needed 1 tyre replaced/repaired due to puncture.

They recommended i replace all 4 as they needed all replacing anyway (4 tyres had 24000km, it is a brand new car).

I said, i'm happy to do 1 for now.. but will wait until EOFY to do the others since i got no discount and was offered RRP. He explained there is no upcoming deals for EOFY.

I ended doing the 4 based off what he said, and now i see this deal from mycar!

    Not happy!

    • why change this often? heavy car? i havent replaced mine since 2018 for my 2+2 seaters

      • They had done 24,000kms?

        • Most tyres on non EVs if it's a typical commuter car can last between 50000-60000km.

          • @prodnus: I have never had tyres last that long. Generally around 25k tops. Must be doing something wrong.

            • @p3r514n: Definitely doing something wrong - I got +75K out of my Geolanders. Small amount of tread left but they were getting pretty hard towards the end

              • @freesteakknives: wtf? That’s crazy!

                • @p3r514n: Yeah - pretty good. For about 4 years the car was garaged so not having the sun on them helps but overall I had them for a very long time. Pretty sure I got well more than 75K. They were 245/70/R16 for Pathfinder. HT tread. I've just replaced with the same but AT tread. Expecting to get less range with the AT tread but at least 60K. In all that time I had one balance and alignment when I hit a kangaroo which did some damage to the front left. Front to back rotation at each service, I ran 36lbs of pressure and I don't have a lead foot.

                • @p3r514n: I would say you are buying the wrong tyres (high performance super sticky tyres that wear quickly), you are relying on a tyre shop to tell you if you need new tyres or you have a crazy heavy car.

I have been buying Michelin XM2's for the non 4WD cars and have usually gotten at least 70,000 if i rotate the tyres regularly.

                  • @terriblebargainer: You nailed it, I've always purchased high performance rubbers. Now it makes sense.

            • @p3r514n: If your tyres are only lasting 25k tops, you need to soften up on your driving. Slow down in corners, more gentle braking and accelerating etc. If you're burning through tyres like that, you're also smashing efficiency in your car too (EV or ICE doesn't matter, you're killing your wallet).

          • @prodnus: My EV is wearing Powergys.

40,000km and rears are great, fronts probably have another 10,000 left

      • it's an EV.

They said there were chunks in some of the wheels and i've driven the car too hard.

it still had some tread left and it wasn't flush with the indicator yet.. (the square notch in-between the threads). He mentioned it's an indicator that if it's flush, its too late so it needs to be done prior to it.

if I was to guess, i may have gotten another 6000km out of them, which would've meant i'd change them out at 30,000km and would've had the opportunity to hold off until now to do the other 3 tyres at a discount.

im so annoyed, im never shopping at mycar again.

        • you break too hard? try only use the regen to stop and minimise using break

      • 8 year old tyres are already stuffed, that isn't a flex

    • Staff should never be telling customers there won’t be a sale. Unless they work in head office, how tf would they know?

    • Perhaps they need replacing? Did say anything about the tread depth? Or uneven ware?

      • My guess is that the tyres were cooked as they have a duty of care.

        • That's funny!

    • Dodgy

  • Looking to change my current Bridgestone Alenza 225/60R18. Need advice if the Pirelli scorpion good ?

    • Yes. There's a lot of variants of the scorpion, but I've been very happy with mine. Bought black friday from my car, no issues getting them fitted.

    • They are soft in terms of longevity.
Excellent grip in wet on roads.
      Quiet on roads
      Stay balanced
If you want a mud tire which is good on roads get the BFG all terrains.
I've had the scorpion muds and ATR Plus and id highly recommend

    • Different Pirelli Scorpions. That's a range of tyre, not a specific model…. and they are not the same.

      • I see only 2 options for me on Mycar, Scorpion MS and second one is All terrain. For regular city drive, is the Scorption MS good compared to bridgestone ?

  • I got in the black friday 50% off deal a few years ago can honestly say i had no complaints but that was 3 years ago

  • Cant find anythin for my 2014 honda odyssey. Damn it

  • in general I have not been impressed with the Pirelli Scorpion Verde a dealer fitted to my suv. Have had to replace it twice due to sidewalls rupture, before Pirelli was on Kumho no issues, moved back to Kumho and no problems at all again. Yes they ruptured because wife and I clipped curbs, but if it doesn't happen with other tyres, then happen while on Pirelli twice in a year….well I know what I will choose (Not Pirelli).

    • Thanks, I was just going to ask what they’re like. I’ll stick with Bridgestone.

    • Have had to replace it twice due to sidewalls rupture

Why do you keep scrapping/hitting on the sidewall?

      • not deliberately I can assure you at $290 a pop. (pun intended). The council (or the contractors) put in all these curbs with sharp corners where I am. They dont even bother to round them off. They have put them around speed ramps, around pedestrian crossings, bike lane dividers.

What is interesting is sidewall rupture twice in a year only while on Pirelli. My guess is in order to make the tyres grippy and comfy they made the sidewalls thin so they will minimise noise and provide better cushioning at detriment of my wallet.

  • I’ve been waiting for this deal, but unfortunately they don’t have them in the size I’m looking for. :-(

  • Anyone know where going p zero is worth it over powergy? Mainly after ride comfort.

    • Generally speaking the less sports oriented the tyre, the more comfortable it will be

    • Go the powergy if you're after comfort

  • You’ll also earn 1 Myer One Point per $1 spent at mycar if you purchase using a credit card linked with Myer One - can be in-store or online.

  • Tyres dont seem 40% cheaper than other places for P-zeros.

    • Its not 40% cheaper than the cheapest you can find elsewhere. Its 40% off rrp

      • where does it say 40% off rrp? do you want to pay for groceries on down down promo that are more expensive than the usual catalogue discount?

      • RRP = 40% more than RRP

    • Why would they be 40% cheaper than their competitors? They’re offering 40% off their currently advertised price.

      • Make a higher RRP and offer 40% off, these posts should be deleted.

Why not even make another higher RRP and offer 80% off, words make more attractive for some peep lol

        • What is RRP on tyres? Does that even exist?

    • OP makes a valid point regardless of how it's advertised. In reality its not really 40% off.

      • It’s 40% off their ticketed price. Why does it matter what everyone else is selling it for? Am I missing something here? The Scorpions that suit my car are still cheaper than their competition, regardless of their ticketed price.

        • Inflating prices so a company can advertise fake, huge discounts is a well-known deceitful practice used to mislead customers. It’s lying and it’s wrong. The ACCC has warned against these types of practices and has investigated various types of fake sales before.

          • @opt: Do you have any evidence that their tyres were cheaper before this sale? Because I certainly don't.
