Healthy Care Premium Fish Oil 1000mg is a natural source of omega-3 to support heart, brain, eye and cardiovascular health.

Healthy Care Fish Oil 1000mg Omega-3 (odourless) uses fish oil extracted from cold water fish. It is a natural source of the marine Omega-3 fatty acids Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA), which are classified as essential fatty acids. They cannot be synthesised in the body and must therefore be obtained from dietary sources. The fish oil supplement is beneficial if you cannot take the recommended 2-3 serves of fish a week.
To ensure you can take Healthy Care Fish Oil 1000mg Omega-3 with confidence, we regularly test our fish oil for mercury and only use high quality fish oil, without added artificial surfactants. Fish oil provides anti-inflammatory benefits to reduce mild joint swelling associated with mild arthritis.

great value still got the tub from last sale, but best to get your omegas from fresh fish, or canned if not

I agree and do eat fish two or three times a week.

Found this deal looking for something to give my senior dog.

Guys I just threw one of these packets in the bin. I recommend buying a more quality fish oil. After doing research on it some fish oils apparently are not worth taking at all, and can be made from low quality sources. There are studies that compare various brands, although these extremely cheap fish oil can't be found in any study.

They also had a fishy aftertaste, which is a sign they are potentially rancid.

    • +2

Must be a QA issue. I didn’t have any fishy aftertaste

      • Without being able to confirm the efficacy of the fish oil where some were shown to be a potential waste of time to even consume, I wouldn't want to take something daily for a year. This one is so extremely cheap from an off-brand made in China (presumably), you have to question it. Add to that the spoilage taste I mentioned in my container.

Studies of fish oil brands consistently reveal significant differences in purity, omega-3 concentration (EPA and DHA), and oxidation (spoilage). Because dietary supplements are loosely regulated, independent testing is vital to ensure you are getting a fresh, contaminant-free product.

Studies have shown that fish oil products with high oxidation can be completely ineffective in delivering the proven health benefits from high quality fish oil.

        • You get what you pay for, it's a budget pill

most fish oil comes from eels from baltic sea. Baltic Sea does have a lot of pollutants from the high levels of fish pens and the super high levels of droppings that don't get carried away.

          • @ersu: When I started reading about all the different variables and issues with fish oil, it actually seemed quite daunting. I am just going to try to find one with recent study confirming low oxidation and good omega 3 levels and won't mind spending a bit more to get it.

        • +1

Yes I agree. I won’t buying this again, I think I’ll be purchasing double strength next time

          • +1

@nicolascage: but the advertised omega 3 and vs the actual lab test is something to check

    • I consume 3 of these everyday. no fishy aftertaste.

      good products.

      • -4

let me know if you find a study that looks at oxidation levels for Healthy Care fish oil to confirm if that's a complete waste of time or not.

This study (sorry for random link hosting the PDF) is the only one I know of that covers common Australian products. These appear to perform better than several better known brands. But clearly no brand is all that consistent.

@tasbargains: Interesting, that's a good find I wasn't able to find any with healthy care. Note that this study is 10 years old. I will remove the neg as that suggests these might be ok. Bioglan though, they seem to be dodgy.

I've taken fish oil for years, even decades. For me there's always a fishy aftertaste unless it's branded "odourless".

      • even these "odorless/no odour" when i open the tub i can smell the fishy

        • They are fish oil so I guess it's kind of expected to a degree. I use to take straight liquid cod liver oil as a kid, now that has an aftertaste. Kind of put me off fish for life.

  • How do we find expiry on these

Date stamp near bar code on product

      • Ones I got were Oct 2028

Don't buy fish oil based on price alone.
The most important thing is getting enough EPA and DHA.

This product provides a much higher dose and is a better option.

Any math bargainers out there to show the cheapest cost per tablet ratio for 2000mg of pure EPA and DHA?

  • Would recommend a wild caught fish oil plsu higher in eda and dha.

  • Which is better, this type of fish oil or Krill oil?

  • recent study showed the best source of Omega 3 is not fish at all but a weed we use in salads called Purslane

Best part is that it is a weed and grows everywhere. If you pick it young yo can eat it raw, if you pick it when it's older can be a bit woody so you better off boiling it in water. Great with a yogurt salad dressing

    • grows everywhere

      I've never seen it.

      • eat some of these 🥕🥕🥕

I stick to the Microgenics 2000mg 340 pack which contain 600mg EPA/DHA for $29.99 when on sale. 6 of those per day to have my Omega 3 Index level at 11-12%

    • 6 per day ??

      • Yep 3.6g of EPA/DHA

        • have you noticed any effects from that theraputic dose?

did you emasure your Omega-3 Index with a blood test

          • @capslock janitor: It’s more of a biomarker associated with long-term health, less risk of chronic diseases and better cognitive aging, rather than something you’d notice on a day to day basis.

The only way is a blood test done at home through a company called OmegaQuant

    • I've been on the Microgenics for about a year also, but I saw this today, what do you make of it?

Thats one negative observational association study, versus the hundreds of positive studies that have existed for many years

  • 120mg of DHA, have to have twice as many as good brands to get 500mg to 1g of DHA.

    Good for 💦 volume
