  • I'm an existing Optus post-paid-
    1. can I buy this and transfer my service over to it?
    2. If I was to buy this, how long until I could activate it (months, years from now?)

      1. No
      2. Activate within 28 days to meet shopback criteria for cashback.
    • Port out and then port back in.

  • Order confirmed and waiting to get tracked from ShopBack

    • Does it track as 120 cashback?
The previous Shopback $100 cackback on Optus, people say it only tracked $24, not $100.

      • mine one says 0 tracked, waiting to get activate and see how it go

      • I bought the previous deal, it tracked as 24.50 but i contested it via the shopback app and they corrected it to 100 cash back but in the form of 2 cashbacks totalling 100

  • When do you need to activate by?

    • Activate within 28 days to meet shopback criteria for cashback

  • Hmmm signed up yesterday with Finder for the same Optus deal

  • Not sure if I want to go with Optus because they tend to get more spam calls frequently. I must say Telstra spam filtering are more robust.

    • I answer unknown numbers but don't say anything. After 3 seconds a lot of them usually hang up because it's software waiting for a reply, then the scammer (real person) gets notified.

  • Tracked at $30…

    • Yeah, I've had past experience of prepaid SIMs tracking at lower cashback when heavily discounted.

      • Did they fix it to the right rate at the end?

  • Order confirmed and waiting to get tracked from ShopBack

The Mrs needed a new 12month plan as her boost plan was ending in 5 days

  • So they upsized the scam - They should just say 100% cashback and go full scam. Getting sick of these "High Cashback" scams on Shopback that are not redeemable.

    Terms and exclusions
You won't get Cashback on: Store promotions, discounts or special deals unless otherwise stated.

So lucky if you get $24 cashback from what I am reading.

    • The keyword there is “unless otherwise stated”. And they have clearly stated on the deal page that this offer specifically is eligible

      • Is it eligible? I can’t see it anywhere on the mobile ShopBack app

        • Yes, in my app I can see it. You have two buttons - cashback and deals, click deals and it should pop up

          • @lovrekn: I don't see the 2 buttons after I clicked on Optus from the search result from searching on Home tab of SB app.

How did you get to the Optus store page with 2 buttons?

            • @Think: The page was difficult to locate. Finally found it.

              • Open Optus deal on ShopBack app.
              • Scroll down to the bottom.
              • There should be square boxes with the following labels: Latest phones, Mobile SIM Plans, Prepaid, NBN. My screen only shows the first two boxes. Scroll left to see the box with the "Prepaid" label.
              • Click the box. It will open a new deal page.
              • Click on the deal tab on the top right. It should show: Valid Until: 10/June/2026, $350 SIM for $220, $350 SIM for $220, plus $120 cashback
      • You're right "unless otherwise stated". They haven't stated the cashback is on the discounted price of $220. If you look at topcashback vodafone page, they have clearly stated the cashback is on the discounted price (in brakcets) - $350 ($219) Prepaid Plus SIM. Not sure why shopback is being scummy!

        • They have stated it’s available on the $220 discount price. I’m looking at it right now, click “ deals” once you’re on the Optus page within the ShopBack app

          • @lovrekn: Yup found it. Made the purchase by clicking on shop now. Tracked at $30. Lodging a request on incorrect cashback amount fails with "Something went wrong"

          • @lovrekn: It shows "$350 Prepaid SIM (including eSIM)" for me.

            I can't find $220 discount price.

            • @Think: that’s on the cashback tab, you need to click the deals tab (within the mobile app)

              • @lovrekn: My app has 5 tabs on the bottom. Home, Categories, Camera, Earn More, Account.

There is no cashback or deals tab.

                • @Think: Not at the bottom of your screen, in the middle of the screen when you’re on the Optus deal itself (by clicking the link from this ozbargain post)

  • Tracked at $30

  • Go get too cash back 30% Vodafone safer deal

    • Unfortunately it’s Vodafone.

I know they have the MOCA deal between Optus & Vodafone but in my own experience a year on Vodafone it was noticeably worse than Optus which is obviously already worse compared with Telstra/Boost.

      • then TCB has 12% on One pass (oprus) $149 plan

        • Went with that and it worked fine got $17.88 tracked, i don't count on any cashback from these mobile deals.. they are basically a scam from both sides. Got burnt last time the amaysim one ran… made some excuse my order number was wrong this was after 4 months of doing nothing.

  • Beware, my previous cashback didn't track, fighting with Shopback by including all screenshots of the shopback click to order complete was also useless, they didn't honour my cashback at the end and had to pay $130 for a 6month plan

    • Yeah I'd do this instantly if I could trust Shopback would honour the deal, but I've had too many issues with them in the past, cashback not tracking, or it does track but then gets rejected entirely a few weeks later.

Plus they've made it insanely difficult to request a review or chat to support.

  • Anyone has $120 tracked?

For those with $30 tracked, refer to:

Your Cashback may be tracked at a different rate initially and adjusted to the correct rate when we confirm the transaction details.

  • esim or physical sim got cashback?

Edit: nvm. It says including esim against cashback amount

  • tracked at $30 only.. anyway to chase it up ?

    • Your Cashback may be tracked at a different rate initially and adjusted to the correct rate when we confirm the transaction details.

  • Is $190 a year for the Optus Plan still a decent deal?

For me, 300GB of 4G + 5G on the Optus network is good value but I really think this deal should be written as $220 with $30 Shopback cashback so people make up their own mind as I can’t see Shopback paying $120 with the way they’ve worded their terms and conditions.

  • You guys can get Topcashback matching this deal easily.

    • Contacted them and got this back - We can't do this as we don't currently offer Optus Prepaid cashback. Kind regards,TCB Support.

  • Tracked at $0!!

    • Congratulations

    • my one is tracked at $0 too!! maybe because it is an esim activation?

      • Nope. It says esim included.

Only difference for me is that i bought through the cashback directly in the Shopback app which does not mention the discounted $220 price whereas if you click through this deal above, it seems to open a different cashback page which explicitly mentions the $220 deal

        • I have tried 2. 1 physical and 1 esim. Esim tracked as $0/ Physical one tracked at $30. I mean because it is an intant activation, so it tracked at $0?

    • Same here. Hopeful they’ll remedy this!

  • Tracked at $30 also

  • Tracking issues . Not worth it

    • Update: tracked 100%

  • can we perhaps get a store rep to confirm? @gotyourback

  • Tracked at $0!!

    • Don't spend it all at once.

  • Steer clear of this sh!tshow OB's. ShopBack + Optus is a recipe for disaster!

  • tracked at zero.
    another cashback scam.

    • you just need to go to the transaction and click the "cashback is showing incorrectly" and they will change it, i did the last deal that showed 24.50 and contested it and they fixed it

  • Anyone tracked at $120?

    • Tracked at $30.

However, the deal section is clearly stated as "$350 SIM for $220, plus $120 cashback". I clicked on that particular button to forward to the store instead of the front page one. Hope that everything goes well in the end.

      • Remember to take a screenshot on "$350 SIM for $220, plus $120 cashback".

Your Cashback may be tracked at a different rate initially and adjusted to the correct rate when we confirm the transaction details.

        • I took a screenshot, did the deal and it tracked at $0. Escalated to support

  • Need @gotyourback to clarify this deal please.

    • Guess they don’t have your back.

  • Hey Oz fam, I'm currently with Optus. Does porting out and porting back in consider "new services" for Optus?

    • Unless you are happy with paying $220 i wouldn't bother, the cash back is likely a scam (See many comments above) that's being run by both Optus and Shopback … i got burnt with an Amaysim one via TopSB. I used the Top Shopback 12% onepass cashback yesterday because i didn't mind if it didn't track and it'll cost me $149. I got lucky or because it was only $17 cashback that it tracked.

If you are counting on the cashback to make it a good deal then don't bother, if you are happy with the price without CB then worth a try.

      • Thanks for sharing your thoughts. To me, $120 cashback is good cherry on top, just my concern was if port out and back in doesn't work OR is considered as new service, then I will lose $220 too because it's not recharge voucher.

        • I've ported out to another provider and back in quite a few times in the past (i was mostly using boost), i don't think that will be an issue.

          • @scud70: Can I port out and back on same day or need to wait for a day then back?

            • @freeman: I typically ported to a random monthly sim from another provider (whatever was discounted) and then used that one month before porting back so not sure in this case… sorry

      • what's top shopback do you mean top cashback>

        • Sorry yeh them :) always get their name wrong hahaha

          • @scud70: haha i thought they did a merger and now it's called Top Shopback!

            • @Tanvry: hahaha that's called foreshadowing :P

  • When I see evidence of the cashback and I'm in

  • If this doesn't pay out should we all file a complaint to the TIO?

  • Hey mates, sorry about the trouble with the tracking on this one. This deal should definitely be tracking at the upsized $120 Cashback amount. Just a heads up that your Cashback may be tracked at a different rate initially and adjusted to the correct rate when we confirm the transaction details.

@yceee @mataurus @cipher @shanks43 @PK @cwlaualex if yours tracked at $30, please shoot us a DM with your ShopBack email and order details. We'll take a closer look and get this sorted for you.

    • Hey @gotyourback

Just purchased and mine tracked at $30.
      Sent you private message.

Thanks in advance if you could sort this one out.

      Cheers

    • Can you please let us know when this ends?

      • If you click on this deal link, then click on Deals tab, you should see valid until 10 June 2026.

    • thanks @gotyourback I have DM'd you my details. Thanks for sorting this out.

    • Thanks, order placed.

      Initially tracked at $30.

      • Thanks for sending your details through and letting us know mates. No worries at all, we are looking into these now and will get your Cashback sorted out for you

        • Same issue here, just DMed you details @gotyourback, many thanks

        • What about for those of us with cashback tracked at $0?

          • @Bargainolic: my one just got rejected and it says me not eligible!! @gotyourback please fix it! It is not fair to esim activation.

    • Purchased this morning, tracked only at $30
      @gotyourback, DMed you, many thanks

    • @gotyourback Is this issue fixed? Do I still need to DM you after I place the order to get the full $120 cashback?

  • Anyone know if i can get two lots of cashback if I place 2 separate orders?

    • I don't think so. I placed heaps of Chemistware House orders to get around the order cap, never lost one and I think they actually recommend that way, click on the cashback link for ever order.

      • OK thanks. It might be different with Optus. I've just messaged @gotyourback asking the question.

In the specific Optus T&Cs it states that "Cashback is paid once per order/transaction, regardless of the number of plans and SIMs purchased on that order" so I would assume it is OK as long as you click through from Shopback before making each transaction.

    • To answer my question, I just heard back from gotyourback and was told that multiple transactions are fine as long as you click through separately from Shopback for each one. Plus need to both be new services, activated within 28 days and stay active for 90 days.

  • My cashback hasnt tracked at all. Placed order 2 days ago. Infact my sim got delivered today. Can store rep pls help with cashback tracking. Thx

  • my current yearly plan will run out in August - When do you need to activate this by to get the cashback?

    • Within 28 days after purchase. This is not for you. You could wait for the next deal.

  • Bought my sim on 1st of June, only $30 tracked, shoot them a message this morning with my account details and proof of purchase and they topped up my account with $90. Atm I have 2 trackings of $30 and $90. Not sure if I would get 2 of them confirmed or 1 would be rejected.

  • Hey mates, quick update on the Optus deal!

Huge thanks to everyone who reached out, we've got plenty of data now so no more DMs are needed.

We've flagged this straight to our team and they are currently looking into it to get everything sorted. Really sorry about the trouble with this one, but we will get it sorted ASAP for you all.

    Cheers! 👊

    • Thanks @gotyourback. Appreciate this.
