Previously popular at ~A$382.50 and now back for an all time low. While this is not the latest Y700 series tablet, it still offers high end specs for the price and will perform very well in gaming and media playback. This time it's available in both Black and White with the 16GB/512GB variant (black) costing US$279.57 (~A$391.23).

Featuring Android 14 with ZUI out of the box (support for 3 major upgrades), 8.8" 2560x1600 165Hz IPS display with 500nits brightness, Dolby Vision, HDR10 & 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, 12GB or 16GB LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB or 512GB UFS 4.0 storage, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU, Adreno 750 GPU, 6550mAh battery, 68W PD fast charging, JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos, inbuilt mics, 13MP + 2MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

This has two USB-C 3.2 ports with one supporting video output and the other charging/bypass charging and audio. For the Steam Deck experience I recommend getting the Lenovo Legion G9 gamepad with hall effect joysticks and connects via USB-C for zero latency.

  • Everytime this pops up, I'm tempted to pick one up…

    • I say the same about the 4/5th edition so I can get this sweet arcade dock that I'll never use. I'm tempted by the MANGMI AIR X every sale too, but this time it's more expensive. Not the best hardware but looks cool.

      • Ye it's all the peripherals that's tempting me (especially those Lenovo gamepads).

I'm tempted by the MANGMI AIR X

I was also tempted to pick one up too as it's a great budget Android handheld, but I barely use my current Android handheld haha.

        • Any other popular peripherals apart from the gamepad and arcade dock?

          • @PharmerDan: The main one are the G7/G9 Gamepads and the Arcade Cabinet.

        • Was tempted aswell to pair up with the G9 controller/case thing. Ended up getting a legion go instead though. You can get a decent used one for about the same price as tablet + G9 controller. It's basically the same thing but with windows lol

Already have an S8 ultra loaded with emulators. The nostalgia from old games lasts about 30mins before I get bored.

          • @krisspy: Ditto. I’ve got a zillion things that can play old games. Methinks this device would also fall in that bucket.

      • man you just tempted me with the arcade dock!

    • Me too but when I asked myself what I need this for? I already got an old surface pro from company besides my work laptop, so if I need to logon do urgent requests while outside I can just carry it with me. If I need to run retro emulators, I already got a M4 Air that is capable of doing that with a bigger screen too, and I also got a RG Cubexx already, so fellow ozbargainers, please give me a strong reason if I should buy this or not ??? Oh then after buying this Y700, need to get screen protector, case and even keyboard or other accessories on top, so will be a bottomless hole …

      • Handheld pc (gamenative/gamehub) & switch emu

      • The battery capacity being a measly 6550mAh might discourage you.

      • Which retro emulators?

    • I bought one, it was ok, but I sold it ~3 months later. You'll have no trouble selling it for similar money on Marketplace if you change your mind.

It's worth it if you travel a lot, or already game a lot on your phone and want that experience on a seperate device. I just decided I do very little of both at the moment.

Steam controller though, haven't put that down since I've got it.

  • Great price, tempted but have to resist since I already got the Xiaoxin Pad Pro GT.

    • How’s the Pad Pro GT holding up? Easy enough to debloat for a near stock experience?

  • I can't bring myself to introduce non OLED screens into my life at this stage.

    • Thats also another reason holding me not to get this … for around the same money why not get the still on sale AYN odin2 portal instead, that beautiful oled screen is so sexy to look at!

      • AYN odin2 portal around 500 aud?

        • The base model 8gb/128gb is on sale at the moment for $380 shipped, though the 12gb/512gb is $545.

    • I didn't keep it, but it was very good for an LCD. Even with an OLED phone and monitor for comparison, it wasn't a noticeably different experience. Maybe if you play a lot in the dark?

    • Indeed, this is the only thing that is holding me back. Odin 2 portal or SD OLED both have super nice oled screens.

  • How does this compare to Lenovo Idea Tabs from Aldi and Good Guys?

    • This one runs circle around our local stores offerings
Legion Y700 is a flagship gaming tablet, the Idea Tabs are mainstream/mid-range at best

    • Warranty difference, which is what worries me, spending over $350 on a tablet and if sh|ts happen, warranty claim can be painful, lucky everything I bought from Ali are cheap stuff and can afford to just chuck into the bin without hurt (touchwood they all so far so good still)

      • My experience with warranty claims on lenovo tablets from ALI have been awful tbh they want you to do all kinds of stupid stuff like taking a video showing it doesn't turn on, then they want to receive it back, test it out and basically eff you around as much as possible (oh and did I mention they didn't accept the package to begin with and stop communicating via email?) Basically had to force paypal to refund me after nearly 8 weeks of BS.

Fast forward months later, it came back to australia and i had my dead tablet again waiting at the post office :)

        • Thx for sharing your painful experience, maybe I should not risk my hard earn cash then, I will sure lose myself if this happen to me lol …

  • Thanks OP
    So tempted at this price!
but the Gen 5 (2026 ver.) has a significant 9000mAh battery update vs. 6550mAh in the Gen4 (2025)

    banger price though !

  • is this better for gaming? vs Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Plus?

    • This is better for a few reasons. 8.8" is easier to hold than 12.4" and this has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 vs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Though the Samsung does have an AMOLED display making it much better quality and a winner for media playback.

      • is there a better model with OLED?

        • No OLED for Lenovo sadly.

        • Yup. Redmagic astra.
          Crazy specs, crazy price aswell.

  • showing as USD 286.41 after coupon.

  • So is this gen 3 - the one without micro sd?
    Still tempting..

    • Yeah no microSD.

    • Yeah, that is the main downside… I ended up buying similar tablets (alldocube 70 mini ultra) recently when the kids' tablets had aged out of their useful lifecycle so that we could have extra media space for movies etc on the microSD card.

  • Im thinking of getting this just to play Forza (via moonlight) with a G9 controller. But also tempted with Ayn Odin 2 Portal with its glorious OLED screen

But I think I’ll get more use out of a tablet than the bulky O2P for non-gaming use

    • Have you been able to get moonlight going without any stutter?

      • To my nvidia shield, running buttery smooth. Both hard wired tho

  • Can someone offer their wisdom on this(+controller) vs steamdeck for mostly retro gaming?
My old eyes might prefer 8.8inch vs steamdecks 7 inch but not sure if y700 option has other disadvantages..

    • Most emulators are on Android. Especially if you cap out around GameCube/Wii, it is more than capable. It can emulate more modern systems too if you wish. Even switch, it plays a solid 8/10 games I threw at it.

Deck has good controls, but dpad is hit or miss for some. The benefit of the Y700 is you are spoilt for choice and can change it out.

Battery life is a lot better on the Y700. ARM makes all the difference.

Also Steam Decks are pricey now. I'd rather a new Y700 over a used Steam Deck with a worn out battery.

      • Thank you!
I actually have a under-utilised steamdeck and thinking of selling it to buy this 😅

  • Anyone tried native PC gaming on a tablet yet? I've watched loads of YouTube videos, but only have iPads in our house - super curious to see how they play with Gamehub

  • What are the speakers like on this thing, say compared to a normal iPad? Would expect it to be a media consumption device without using headphones

  • Really kinda want this to stream my big pc. Wondering if there’s a good attachment for a controller. I just want higher hz as my steam deck is capped at 60hz

  • Ordered!

I've hesitated for too long, overworking my poor elderly Samsung A7 Lite that it stutters and wheezes in it's old age. Got another tablet of 11 inch or so with OLED screen sitting idle gathering dust. In the end the smaller tablet fits my small hands better.

    • Me too! I have the original go. Regardless i can use as a general powerful tablet if i wish. You can't beat spec for the price

  • Does this take microSD?

    • No. The Gen 4 has though

  • Tempting but ended up getting a Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE 12GB/256GB for AUD$768 from Samsung Australia via Woolworths Marketplace listed at A$849 minus my $50 reward points and 4% off Woolworths giftcard ^_^

  • Has anyone used the G9 controller with it? Yes they're plenty of youtube videos but better to get local opinions

  • Is it worth the extra to get more RAM and storage?

    • With there being no microSD card the extra storage isn't a bad investment if you intended on having a lot of games or media on it

    • The discount is only applied to this model AFAIK. I tried the higher spec to no success

      • Seem to have worked for me

        Y700 16GB/256GB: $287.10USD
        G9 controller: $65.62USD

Total: $352.72USD delivered (touch under $500 AUD)

Looking forward to playing FH6 on this!

        • It probably failed for me as I've already purchased the 12GB version originally. I just jumped rather than exploring options. Still happy at $345 delivered. Are you using GeForce cloud for FH6? Where did you get the G9 controller?

  • Lol I'm actually glad it's not the SD card version, I'd have dived on that in a second at this price. Need to hold on to those pennies after buying the s25+ from the last deal.

    • lol similar to me although not for buying a new phone but my car damn rego renewal this month, even greenslip is so expensive now, whole year rego will cost me way more than a Y700 + Odi2 Portal, so need to hold my wallet …

  • We getting the Pad Pro GT for around ATL anytime soon? Thinking that’d definitely be better for media consumption and not too bad for light gaming.

  • Does this actually come with CN rom? Goldway mucked me about with my xiaoxin tab saying you can only get global rom now for those

  • Yes it’s great for performance but for me the best thing about this is the size. It’s great for reading manga, etc. I find the standard tablet size of 10”+ is too unwieldy to use for extended periods.

    • This!! And unfortunately there's no other alternative for decent tablet in this size besides iPad Mini

  • I know we're further away that Korea but seeing its around 260 there breaks my heart

  • Solid tablet, swapped to Global ROM and Google Play worked fine, the screen is decent, good battery, lenovo pen worked surprisingly good. Camera is rubbish though.

    • Just bought one. Where do i access global ROM? Is it easy to swap? Thank you

      • Download full ROM and attachment in this xda thread
Unzip both, copy over the files to the ROM folder
Use LTBox (github) and follow the steps to flash the new ROM.
Note that OTA will not work, any updates need to be sideloaded manually.

        • Thank you

        • So the CN ROM is restrictive in Australia, such as cannot use google play etc? I assume the global ROM locks any restrictions? Thanks once again .. yes I can do google search however asking you is better

          • @vinni9284: Google Play etc all works in Australia. Just need to enable Google Services in settings. It's already explained in the deal

          • @vinni9284: CN: Basic google services included, download 1 app on CN store and it will work as usual. Better battery but also more aggressive throttling so notification will be delayed, random Chinese apps, app might random switching to Chinese language sometimes, OTA updates (manually, without CN IP it won't receive any server updates).
EN: Google Services out of the box, less bloated, battery a bit weaker due to Google Services background, slower update, switch region also mean no OTA updates (need to do via LTBox)

  • This is the old Gen4 (2025), but the Gen 5 (2026 ver.) has a significant 9000mAh battery update vs. 6550mAh

    • Almost doesn't feel real in something this big/thin. I wish the PayPal discount was still active, as I could have found a cheaper price somewhere. The local price of the FIFA Edition is $1499, so maybe $1399 or $1299 for the normal one when it's released.

    • It's the Gen3, even states it in the post. Gen4 has Snapdragon 8 Elite and a battery in the 7000mah range somewhere. MicroSD card returns in Gen4 as well, skipped in Gen3

  • First 3 gens of Y700 (including the Gen 3 Y700 in this deal) all suffer from CPU cold solder joint issues, as i heard from chinese community. Warranty would be a problem.

    • FWIW my first-gen Y700 that I bought in 2023 is still going great so far.
