CamelCamelCamel.your GOAT started to melt on my hands after 2 years
They all seem too, I’ve got a MX master, 2 and 3(non s)
Any one know if the overpriced 4 fixes it?
yeah they are 100% made with planned obsolescence, the side clicker in mine is dying too, but the action ring feature is kinda neat tbh.
yeah mine has failing main left click
funnily enough my Master 2S which has had MUCH longer wear time is working fine
hell my old MX1100 from 20yrs ago still works fine!!!
@ozkossi: I have the same problem with the left click but don't see enough alternatives or possible repair options that I am considering dropping another $99 bucks on this. Have you found any alternatives? What do you use now?
@guster33: If it is just a switch that's the problem…
This was one of the guides I used to disassemble and reassemble: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/How+to+Open+Your+Logitech+MX+Ma…. A couple of YouTube videos also helped here.
These switches worked in my non-silent MX 3 (the 7.3mm ones): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003435206949.html?spm=a2….
So assuming you can either solder or are willing to give it a shot even if you haven't before (IE me), it's a matter of taking the mouse apart and de-soldering the current switches and then soldering in the new ones and you're golden. You may also need to replace the feet depending on how good you are at taking them off though.
I had a couple of MX 3 (plural, can't use the 's' here haha), that I was starting to get a bit over, nothing really wrong with them, but the clicks were starting to annoy me, especially when used in the office with silent switches on my keyboard. Swapped in the silent switches and used new glass feet (also from AliExpress) and they're nice to use again.
i got one in april 24 and its going fine, no rubber melting, though my hands dont sweat
only issue is it's as smooth where my index finger clicks
yeah i'm surprised how quickly that wore down
but not really all that surprised… i'm back to use the 2S
Not sure about the Mx master in particular, but you can remove the rubber on most of the logitechs and then replace it with pre-cut tape from ali express. Costs around $5. Not as nice as the original, but nice enough. I do it for my G604 since you can't buy them anymore.
VITAL to get this for any MX Master mouse or else the coating and rubber will crumble away in 3 - 5 years. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005012173277856.html?
You can also remove the rubber and replace it with the skin on to the bare plastic.
These are ok, but they're way overhyped as the best mouse ever.
My previous Logitech mouse lasted 15 years, whereas I've had numerous problems with this one in just 4. The battery is now completely dead so have to use it completely wired as a start.
A new battery for the logitech MX Master can be bought for sub $10 shipped from Aliexpress. I did it to mine, took less than 15 mins.
Just to counter some other comments on here. Ive used one for work for last 3 years and its been completely fine.
Had the MX2 for 7-8 years at work and home. Side button and laser/movement stopped this year so had a good innings.
Was going to roll the dice with a Rapoo or Keychron but I need that the free scrolling.
If i can get 5 years out of this ill be happy.
My previous MX Master 3 lasted 18 months before the right click broke
I also get a lot of lag with this mouse (BT or Dongle) yes I have moved the Dongle and Reinstalled Drivers
Other than that I like this mouse, just wish I could hook it up via Wired Connection
Turning on Enhanced DPI in Logitech options+ fixes the 125hz polling rate which makes this mouse much better. Picked up a Razor Pro Click V2 today as a backup. Mouse isn’t as high, bit plastic feeling on the top, cups on big hands and buttons are clicky. Polling rate is much better though
Have bought a couple of 4s as some 3Ss started to become sticky and gross or have buttons wear out and while they have reduced the rubber coating that degens into filth it's still present across the back and thumb area.
I've actually pivoted over to Keychron mice for business and has been received well from most people I've set them up with.
M6 if you want sidescroll, M7 if you dont (Though you can shift + scroll to sidescroll anyways). Even M5 for ergo.
All wired/dongle/BT options, no rubber goo coating.
They are way lighter though, so something to be aware of if your stuck in that heavy = good mindset
classic case when main switch stops holding or you have to press with force to actually get a click - second mouse having exact same issue again, I added some bits of thick electric blue tape between switch and plastic cover to get the click, but it is a bit unreliable, I guess only way as was mentioned is to replace the switch
I like the interactive button design, but this is too heavy for me. anywhere 3s works better with my hand but missing that button— so useful at macos for shifting full screen windows.
