  • Get a free Stat Dec instead: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/852908

    • Too much effort. Requires a witness. Im willing to pay 9bux to chuck a sickie and be paid $500 for the day.

      • You don't need a witness, it's digitally witnessed and legally accepted as long as you use your myGov account or myid, can't remember which of those.

        • You don't want to give Stat decs where you can avoid it. You've giving away a legal position versus $9 for something that corroborates you and you have plausible deniability.

          Think about it. Choose wisely.

          • @plmko: Why is that Stat dec so important? Im confused

          • @plmko: What? Can you explain how this is in any way a risk?

Unless of course you're lying, in which case you're defrauding the person giving you a certificate anyway

          • @plmko: Only applicable if you're calling in sick every Friday and using a stat dec. Few times a year is fine

        • Isn't the issue does your employer accept them?

          • @carrawa: They can't reject it, it's a legal document

            • @Oh Boy: My point is is that medical certificate needs to be by a pharmacist today or a doctor. I was not aware are federal stat Dec could be used (No witness required due to the online version) instead and your employer would have no choice to accept it legally as opposed to a medical certificate from a medical professional.
Then there is what forms your employer legally is required to accept, especially if dick leave us being paid.
              Needs some clarification.

      • not everyone is getting paid $500 a day, Emily!

        • yeah that's about 2 standard deviation below what average ozbargainers are earning apparently.

          • @Usemame: Exactly. So the average ozbatgainer can definitely afford 9bux to chuck a sickie

  • good

  • My employer will definitely think the cert is doggy just by reading instantscrips.

    • Stat dec is more dodgy

    • Nah been using them for a while without any issues. It’s all legit.
Rather this cert than a stat dec.

    • Nah your employer will know you browse OzBargain and give you a raise.

  • There are bulk billed one's now, no reason to pay

    • But ird almost impossible to book a gp on the day.

      • I've been doing walk-ins for a couple of decades. No need to book, no need to see a specific GP either.

  • The fact that someone would get a certificate like this instead of seeing a doctor raises questions about the validity of the sickness.

    • Bro, its impossible to get a spot to see gp on the same day, and then we will likely waiting for hours in the clinic

    • What you just said makes no sense, who in their right mind would want to get out of bed and go outside when they are sick.

I would say certificates where you actually went to see a gp is more suss

      • yep and if (this is a big if which wont happen) we get a spot appointment say 1pm, most likely it will get delayed at least 30-40mins on my local clinic. you sit there in the middle of germs

      • This is a much better and more accurate reason than 'impossible to book a GP'. Where on earth do these people live?

    • Getting a doctor's certificate was always ridiculous.

When we are too sick to go into our office, we're also too sick to go into the doctor's office. There's also no benefit to spreading around the flu, and we don't need to drive to a doctor for a doctor to tell us to go home and get some rest.

Do I dislike our culture of "chucking a sicky"? Sure, but it doesn't mean we should have to jump through bereaucratic hoops created by crony capitalists to discourage workers from exercising their rights.

We know when we're sick. We have legal entitlements. If we abuse my entitlements, then we can be fired. That should be enough.

      /rant

    • Huh, so if you have a flu etc you should bring it to work and make everyone sick?

You get sick for three days, then take me out for 1 - 2 weeks.

Some problems are also physical. Not everyone has a car too.

    • Pmsl legendary

    • There's already a long weekend.

  • or Bulk billed at Newdoc?

  • Tax dollars hard at work. Not as bad as NDIS but this should be bulk billed at the least.

    • Do you mean stopping people making more people dick and then spreading and making even more people sick lowering productivity?

Not every one can or are allowed to work from home.
