  • When did these guys get so expensive?

    • Recently due to AI's infrastructures

      • Just as my dashcam card decided to die…

    • was just about to ask this. guess ill have to cop it for my modded switch

    • A little known technology called AI has caused memory prices to sky rocket.

    • Why are you linking prices before the AI boom leading to the global price rise in memory? MicroSD cards are impacted by the same price rises in RAM and SSDs.

  • Looking for a deal for 1tb..

  • Memory cards from AliExpress? What could go wrong…

    • They're usually fine. The main issue is whether the card will survive the warranty period with repeated writes from things like dash cams.

Claiming warranty if/when it dies is the problem, if not buying locally.

      • Far from it. AliExpress is absolutely rife with counterfeit SD Cards…

        • I was going to say.. probably 256mb cheapest tier card fake formatted to 256gb. as soon as you try to copy file over 256mb to it , it dies and it is over.

I read awhile ago there is a way to check if fake formatted, forgotten now but google is your friend. never had to check if fake because I didn't take the risk..

          • @skibidigrimacmoggr67: Validrive is the program I've had success with. Had an obviously fake USB but some of the other programs just froze up when trying to analyse it.

  • $85.00 from centacom for a touch more

    • $19 difference (after cashback)

  • Do Viofo dashcams need max endurance or would this work?

  • i knew there ram, ssd and hard drive price increases but i wasnt expecting it to hit sd cards. i guess they really want us to own nothing

went to buy a max endurance card for the new dashcam.. went through my amazon orders and found the 256gb one i bought in aug 2024 for $60. today: $179

    i hate this timeline

    • I wonder what John Connor would make of it all…

    • I agree, makes no sense given that up until then the price was trending down consistently… now it's all gone way up!
