      Why are you linking prices before the AI boom leading to the global price rise in memory? MicroSD cards are impacted by the same price rises in RAM and SSDs.

      They're usually fine. The main issue is whether the card will survive the warranty period with repeated writes from things like dash cams.

      Claiming warranty if/when it dies is the problem, if not buying locally.

          I was going to say.. probably 256mb cheapest tier card fake formatted to 256gb. as soon as you try to copy file over 256mb to it , it dies and it is over.

          I read awhile ago there is a way to check if fake formatted, forgotten now but google is your friend. never had to check if fake because I didn't take the risk..

            @skibidigrimacmoggr67: Validrive is the program I've had success with. Had an obviously fake USB but some of the other programs just froze up when trying to analyse it.

    i knew there ram, ssd and hard drive price increases but i wasnt expecting it to hit sd cards. i guess they really want us to own nothing

    went to buy a max endurance card for the new dashcam.. went through my amazon orders and found the 256gb one i bought in aug 2024 for $60. today: $179

    i hate this timeline
