  I don't think anyone makes good ips non-va ultrawides anymore. It's either oled for a lot of money or budget VA

    I suspect it's because cheap IPS panels would eat into OLED sales, whereas nobody who's ever used a VA panel would actually want a VA panel, forcing them to fork it out for an OLED.

      +1 for CS, it at least allows you to retain a 16:9 hud with ultrawide peripherals. I use 21:9, and on multiple occasions I've spotted enemies I otherwise would not have on 16:9—even for my 16:9 teammates I can sometimes spot enemies while spectating. It's a definite advantage.

      Rust sadly does not have this customization yet. It supports ultrawide, and would have the same benefits as CS, but the hud is set to adjust to the width of the screen with no option to change. It's bearable on 21:9, but on 32:9 it would put your HP, etc all the way to the right of the screen.

    Too big imo for competitive.

    Professional fps players play on 24-27" monitors. Keeping everything in your peripheral is more inportant than a few degrees of fov you get going ultra wide.

    Fov is limited, you're not gonna get twice the visuals just because your monitor is 2 27" glued together.

  See how on the store listing VA is nowhere in the title, nowhere in the description, but found only deep into the fine print specifications?

  Meanwhile, OLED and IPS are proudly displayed all over those monitor listings.

      Price is less of a factor here when no matter how you frame it's still likely to be a $500 mistake.

      It's not even some reputable brand on sale here—its Kogan brah. Samsung or whoever is providing these panels sure as heck aren't giving them the cream of the crop. So not only is it a VA panel, but mere leftovers of a superior brand at that. A.k.a the bottom of the barrel selection of an already bad product.

      Maybe it's not that bad, how do you know until you try it? The problem is, if you do decide to risk it you're looking at over $100 in return shipping costs that you're gonna have to eat because the thing is so damn huge.

      Maybe you need something to just get you by, and I get it. But if you're that desperate for a monitor, you're far better off going for a used, superior panel from marketplace where you can actually see and test the monitor in person first.

      It's not even the panel itself, but the build quality too is questionable. If something else breaks (common for these types of cheap builds) you're eating that huge cost to ship it for warranty repair too. It's better to pay more for something that will last you for years, over skimping out on something that you'll likely want to or have to replace again in far less time.

      If $500 is all you have to spend on a monitor, then I just don't think it'll be worth the risk. But if you've got a bit more disposable income and understand the risks, then bugger it give it ago. It might be alright.

  Horses for courses, VA is very suitable for office work, watching movies, music productions and many other tasks… but not high speed gaming or photo editing.

  49" ultrawide like this very suited for control panels, and very wide or multi-window inset workspaces.
