  • 299 without paywall

    • Which will cost you $49 unless you already have it too.

      • unless you already have it too.

        Which why would you.

        • the most common reason is so you can pre-order pokemon

        • midnight release priority lane

        • If you buy collectibles frequently, it pays itself off frequently.

It isn't for those who shop at EB once every few months

    • Still a good price with or without

  • OLED image retention on used devices?

    • Warranty/exchange

    • It seems extremely difficult to cause noticeable image retention on these. People did like 2 year burn ins and it took months of 24/7 to get anywhere.

Like it's a valid concern, but odds are good.

  • brand new OLED Switch at Big W in a week for $399 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/961024

    • Could probably price match +10% off gift card offer to push to $360

  • I paid $350 new at Kmart with Mario cart. Seems like it should be cheaper for a used one with no games.

    • For the OLED??

      • Pretty sure it went that low at one point.

      • Kmart have sold the Switch in the past, usually around Christmas time, but they have, more than once.

In fact, it was on this very site for 369 over 4 years ago, with the game they said, and 3 months of Nintendo Online included too. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/664532

  • why is everything "re-furbished" or "Pre-Owned". Why can't they call it what it is Second hand

      • Umm ROC is Taiwan

    • Refurbished means they (supposedly) have done some work to test/improve the unit.
Used, second hand and pre-owned can be used interchangeably

  • Switch OLED were $360 in 2024 brand new with 12 months of online and super mario wonder

    • That was a long time ago. Has it ever happened since?.

      • I was there gandalf, 3000 years ago.

  • The only good thing about these now is how easily modded they are. Even the flashcarts work with them I believe?

    • Isn't the OLED harder to mod than the OG?

      • Anything other than the OG's are more difficult, same as revised ones even before OLED came out.

    • that was Switch v1, OLED requires chip

    • Going rate for an OLED modchip install is around $150, but definitely make sure the person knows their stuff. There's a couple of install methods, but Kamikaze is probably the way to go. Otherwise the DAT0 connection that allows the switch to boot into the CFW can come loose over time and cause it to only boot into the stock firmware.

    • I feel that's a bit harsh, this is a pretty solid system even without mods.
It's also going to retain a considerable edge in regards to screen quality over Switch 2 until they release their own OLED model.

  • Damn, cheaper than what it would cost to buy a :New: 3DS XL these days.

    • hahaha, yeah

  • Do these still have stick drift issues, or was that just the earlier models?

    • I don't believe the stick drift issues were ever solved. Nintendo simply kicked the can down the road and refused to admit guilt.
I'm sure there are solid third party options you can swap them out with worst case.

    • You can test yourself through the settings.

    • Stick drift is a real issue, but I believe it's also vastly exaggerated.

My S1 joycons have taken quite a lot of abuse from playing SSB and Mario Kart with friends & family, but IIRC only a single joycon has ever developed drift.

That was the original left joycon that came with my OG Switch back in 2017, and it was fixed with a single quick spray of electrical contact cleaner without even having to open up the joycon.

  • Are these hackable?

    • It will have to be modchipped physically in order to install CFW.

  • Why the hell can't you choose your colour? I can't think of any reason to do that. Dealbreaker.

    • I wonder if that just applies to online orders? I'm sure if you went into a store they'd let you choose from whatever they had on hand.
