  • Of course I spent $80 today :(

    • For $80 better to use $20 off studentbeans if you have

      • Wait they have $20 off atm?

        • yeah it's a longgoing thing, but you need a student email

      • My order was actually $68 plus $10.95 postage. I guess I could have spent another $12 to get the $20 off.
I'm actually not sure I would be eligible for the ShopBack deal because the store had an automatic 15% off at checkout.

Oh well; I'm happy with what I paid.

  • Im confused about the bonus.

[Westpac, StG, BoM, BSA] 10% Bonus with Apple Pay ($20 Cap)

So i need to use cards from one of those banks, but must add to apple pay (not just use the card number) and i will get another 10% ?

    • That is correct. Add an eligible card to Apple Pay > pay with that card through Apple Pay.

      • Wow, never heard that. Cant we just directly pay with those bank cards?

        • You can but no bonus

    • Yep, just don’t do what I did the other day for upsized Apple Pay bonus for David Jones - accidentally used my default Amex 😑

    • Looked at it again, the bank doesnt matter itts onyl that you use Apple pay, so the title is wrong.

Also, it says store website only, not through the app. Will need to uninstall ebay momentarily…

      • Be careful with this, I questioned this myself in the past and someone in the comments said it didn't work with a different card.

        Take note of this:

Eligible for selected payment cards only

        • Ah I didn't realise it as I usually use my westpac credit card anyways.

  • You won't get Cashback on:
Items with Best Offer accepted prices and Auctions

So pretty much buy now only items.

    • wasn't that always the case?

  • Can u make multiple transactions and each time is $20 cap?

    • Yeah, it's per order.

      • Really? For the standard and/or bonus? The bonus specifically says per order.

        • It's no longer safe to assume cashback will apply to more than one transaction (at least on the bonus)

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/959292 was a similar promo. Shopback made an error in the advertised wording, so have now honoured the bonus (actual transaction was on the 14th May, but now showing a bonus on the 3rd June for the second ebay transaction that I did).

          • @justtoreply: Just did a quick read through, sounds like excuses from the rep to me.

They have specific wording for when it's only one per customer (from memory it's something along the lines of 1 per user or first order only), it's certainly not cap per purchase which is what they use for everything.

            • @Hiphopopotamus: They'll even add/change the criteria wording to your "Reward Pending" section AFTER they're tracked. That's what happened to the bank bonus in the last promo.

          • @justtoreply: Yea that was a bit of a sketchy experience. I'm so glad I took screenshots that day.

For your own best interest, I recommend taking screenshots of the deal shown in Shopback just before you purchase as proof of what the wording is while the deal is live.

  • Also mentions no promo codes. Does that mean the eBay plus extra discount will make the purchase ineligible for CB? (JUN17EOFY)

    • Would like to know as well.

    • Usually, that's correct.

Which means these deals are useless for those offers as 15/17 is better.

Haven't seen a shopback offer that allows promo codes in a long time :(

      • Depend on the value, but if it’s under $200, this deal gives 21% for shopback plus member but yeah, there’s a risk of non tracking

        • Only for Apple Pay users with one of those bank cards.

          • @rbimdxe: Well, yes, this deal is only good if you can use both offer (without coupon). Cause if it's just 10% ebay coupon is quite common (and often better)

  • normal westpac bonuses never ever tracks for me. past three times I had to contact them manually.
I wonder this one tracks for others?

    • Last one tracked for me a few weeks back using Westpac directly in ebay checkout.

I've had hit-and-miss when going via Paypal.

Just remember though, today isn't just a westpac bonus - only when using Apple Pay and one of the bank listed.

  • Good timing, need some tools and parts for CV axle replacement

  • Can you partially pay with a gift card?

    • It's in the OP.

Cashback is valid when gift cards are used as a payment method

    • yup, and your supposed to get the cashback on the full price from westpac

I just tried it on a $200 item, using a $150 giftcard from this deal

  • I don’t see an option for Apple Pay on the payment page.
Any ideas on how to get it to show?

    • You need to open the Shopback app on your phone and click through to Ebay App. Then you will see the apple pay as one of the payment options

      • Thanks so much. I was using my iPad.

      • It says to "make sure you check out on this store's website, not in their app". So I think you should delete the app and use the inapp browser?

        • Oh no… ShopBack prompted me to "Continue to App", so I assumed it was ok to complete the transaction in the eBay app..

          • @comk789: Ill let you know if mine tracks and let me know if yours does. So we can figure out whether app is required in the future.

            • @ATangk: mine was just tracked

              • @comk789: both Apple pay and regular?

I only finished checking out 30 mins ago so it's probably too soon.

                • @ATangk: Apple Pay hasn't tracked yet, but bank bonuses usually take much longer to track

                  • @comk789: Both tracked for me last night, bonus and regular at the same time.

(I deleted app and used browser)

                • @ATangk: My earlier purchase from 4 hours ago already tracked. Both normal and applepay. Using ebay app

          • @comk789: I used the app too, and mine just tracked. I used a gift card to pay for most of it, and it still tracked the bonus rate at the full 10%

I remember using the app last time too and it tracked just fine, so I think it's more of a if-you-want-to-maximise-your-chances-of-a-successful-tracking kind of thing

  • If anyone is looking for Penrite 0w16 and missed out on the supercheap auto deal, Sparesbox have it. It lists as $70, but shows up as 63 in cart. I bought something last time with an autoapplied coupon, and it didn't effect the cashback.

After the cashback, thats $50 and includes shipping
