I read that as the 15% discount doesn't apply to the purchase of IKEA gift cards (even if they are intended to be used towards a METOD purchase) and NOT excluding the use of gift cards to purchase a discounted METOD kitchen.

Using it in a rental, used them a number of times. If you can make it fit in the space ok, saves thousands on custom made etc. something gets damaged, off to ikea for a quick cheap replacement.
