      I need a laptop for car audio tuning that can run REQ and AF's tubing software. It's tempting to get this and pop windows on it, and have a spare Mac side for Logic at this price.

          the answer's no and given the huge utility of a reader for payments and logins it's a bit of a shortfall of linux on macbook as against macos

          not a linux hater and tbqh my regard for macos's diminishing (i'm still on sequoia) but i do reckon it's something to consider

        I bought this exact model about a year ago for ~$200 and looked into running Linux on it, but the fingerprint sensor was a dealbreaker.

        It does ago as a tertiary device with macOS though; just don't expect to do much on it.
