  • Macpac Uber Light Down Jacket V2 $89.99

I'm trying to decide between this and the DoorDash one…

    • This one comes with stolen fries 🍟

      • The Doordash one is just always cold

  • What’s the difference between v1 and v2

    • AI says

The fundamental difference between the Macpac V2 update and the original version centers primarily around sustainability, packability design, and sleeve construction, while keeping the exact same insulation performance.

      1. Eco-Friendly Materials (The ♺ Update)The V2: Both the main outer shell and the inner lining are made from 100% recycled nylon. The materials are also bluesign® approved, ensuring they meet rigorous environmental and resource-efficiency standards. The Original: Used standard, non-recycled virgin nylon for its shell and lining fabric.

      2. Integrated Packing SystemThe V2: Macpac eliminated the separate, easy-to-lose external stuff sack. The V2 packs directly into its own zipped internal hand pocket, making it much more self-contained for hiking and travel. The Original: Relied on a tiny, independent external stuff sack that came tied to the inside pocket.

      3. Raglan Sleeves for Better MovementThe V2: Features updated raglan sleeves. The stitching runs diagonally from the collarbone down to the underarm rather than at the shoulder point. This reduces chafing when you wear a heavy hiking backpack and allows for better arm mobility. The Original: Utilized traditional set-in shoulder seams.

  • I have the halo hooded, but it's a bit too fluffy. It's great for Melbourne winters but looking for a bit thinner one when it's not as cold as peak winter.

    Thoughts on this?

    • perfect use case for this jacket.

    • I'm shopping other way round. Already have a similar hooded light jacket to Uber here, but want to replace my legendary old Kathmandu 550 down jacket. Hopefully Halo is a good replacement.

      • Love my Halo. Excellent for Melbourne winds, winter, rains. Just that its too fluffy.

Plus it runs slightly large. I'm a medium and the Medium that I have for Halo is a Medium-Large. So even bigger with the fluffiness

        • Good info, thanks. I was to buy small online (I'm also a medium for tees), and am thinking of trying it on at Essendon dfo which shows as in stock. I think as per what you described small would be likely my fit. Found a $20 welcome back voucher sitting on my desk from my last online shop in May, valid only this month so I could use that too!

        • Bought small after fitting on - it was indeed still roomier!

          • @WhatsTheBigDeal: haha, I bought medium again, small was ever so slightly tight in some movements.

or maybe I've gotten ever so slightly fat! lol

  • Are these under or oversized?

    • I wear a L for everything uniqlo (mens) and this jacket is right smack between M and L for me (i've got 2). L is great for more activities / movement; and i have a L brightly coloured jacket for cycling. it's perfect for cycling in melb winter. The M i have (with hood) is a better fit for travelling or under an outer water/windproof shell for extra warmth.

though, if i had to buy one again now, id buy a L - just more comfy when sitting down/lounging.

  • Tried one this morning. There is not much fill and it would be good for cool days but definitely not cold days.

Didn't like the inner and outer feel of the material. Felt like a cheap plastic bag.

  • Thanks op. Needed one of these. I randomly had $15 of "loyalty" credit in my account, so check before paying. $74.99 for me.

  • Why does BCF not stock XS size? Macpac has it across all colours

    • for Halo Macpac had price matched BCF after discount of $20.

  • Thanks OP. Sadly hooded seems to be +delivery only in VIC so I got the non-hooded. Stacked with $10 sign up credit and $15 cashback from Commbank (had to buy a $2 spork to get the total to over $80).
Total should be $66.98 after cashback!
