  • Best game ever

    • I agree, since 1999

Thinking about it I remember my CD Drive had a freaking remote!

      • Damn that sounds fancy !!

      • You can tell you went to an expensive school

    • Legendary ⚔️ And the community has just shot up since Microsoft did the Definitive Edition with a dedicated team. Great deal.

  • Wolololohhhhh

  • Often just boot up a game Vs bots, just set to start at castle age and game only lasts 25m-30m. Such a fun chilled experience of sim city and action mixed

    • Yessss, love that you can customize it like that

  • That’s almost the same value as a box of Nutri Grain now that it’s 2026.

  • No cross-play with Mac OS players.

    • TIL there are multiple Mac gamers

    • All 6 of them

  • Does this work on a MAC?

    • yes

  • Great game, used to get cheap (sub $6) not long after it first was remastered. Would have thought it would still get that cheap but apparently not looking back at posts.

  • Have people got it to work well on snapdragon CPUs?

  • 42 Civilizations, 229 Campaign Missions, 23 Lost Friends, 7 Sackings, 3 Failed Marriages, 1 Life Ruined….but I'd do it all again.

  • 357 achievements oh gosh, sink you life into it to get to 100%

  • fine another one for the steam backlog

  • Now plays natively on Mac! No need for emulators.

  • I have 4, is it worth playing this?

    • I prefer 2 just because of better visibility, wider viewing angles, and realistic models.

  • do I need to purchase each copy for each member in the family? I think yes, because this is Steam, not GOG. gonna be a headache to create Steam accounts for each member..

    • wow what a question - define 'need'? Look it's probably technically not a life necessity like say buying food for your whole family… would it be highly desirable though, that's a different question… that said, describe your family and whether they 'want' to all play AoE2 with you, do you all have capable devices to do so, and if so, why don't any of them already have steam accounts etc? however yes I would think if you want to install on a bunch of separate devices and have an all out war (which if everyone was committed to it would be really cool and reminds me of my younger days first battling it out with siblings and friends), then you probably want multiple licenses.

  • Deceptive description on the Steam listing.

AoE II Definitive Edition includes only 4 extra civilisations and their associated campaigns ("The Last Khans") over HD Edition… to get the rest, you need to buy all the Definitive Edition DLCs, which costs an extra AUD$53.88 on top of this Definitive Edition only price.

    • When the "Definitive Edition" isn't really the Definitive Edition?

      • DE is a 1:1 remake with modern graphics, HD was basically a texture pack

DE just got a patch a few days ago, its still alive and getting MP balance. Its well worth the cost honestly

    • I think you are confusing expansion packs with civilizations.

AoE II Definitive Edition (2019) included all the civilizations from all the prior editions and expansion packs, plus a few new ones. It now also includes the three expansion packs released prior to 2023 which collectively include another seven civilizations.

Anyone thinking about buying this can rest assured that they will get heaps of content and over 20 civilisations. There are a number of expansion packs available since then, but not required to enjoy the content of this offer and mainly appealing to the hard core fans.

    • They recently included almost all of the dlc civs into the base game (this version) - with the exception of the last two dlcs of the Chinese civs and new South American civs.

  • Wululu

  • Playing the AI on hardest some civs often don't use their unique units, eg Persians and Teutons.

  • How does this hold up graphics wise?

    • DE has more detailed sprites and effects than thr original release but you don't buy AoE for the graphics

  • Perfect timing. Got an indefinite chat suspension on multiplayer so I'm going to pick up another copy =)

    • lol what did you do

      • some guy kept pausing in a team game at the start of the game so i kept unpausing. He then cussed out my mother and father wishing death upon them. Not sure what I said to him but yeah. INDEFINITE BAN

  • One of the most playable games ever

  • Cheapest price $5.73
