I've had my MJs for longer than I care to think.
I snapped the arm one time, and even though they must have been a decade old at that point, I sent them back to MJ and they replaced it for nothing more than the shipping cost. Plus I bought them from a grey importer, at a much lower cost than retail australian stock
MJ is a rare brand that's worth its cost, at least compared to other expensive sunglass brands (like all the garbage owned by luxottica)
Hmm that is great customer service but my preferred brand is 2 for $100 and this is after being happy to spend $200+ on Ray Bans / Oakleys

No reason to neg. They're not for me either, but there are known as the highest quality sunglasses you can buy. And they will probably last you a lifetime.
I bought carbon fibre framed sunglasses polarise from Rayban at a good hefty discount for around 200 bucks
And as a spare set, I bought another polarise sunglasses from temu for 10 bucks
Now I may be completely wrong here, but I couldn’t find a single difference either in the visibility of the lenses or the quality of the frame
The ribbons have plastic lenses which have even scratched and I cannot do anything about them but I just prefer throwing my cheaper glasses away and buying new ones once they scratch
I've got like 6 pairs of $5 glasses from aliexpress. Some live in the car, some at work, some at home. If they break or I lose them it's no biggie. I'd hate having one pair of $200 glasses I'd have to keep track of.
I bought 1 pair of Mako sunnies 10 years ago for $360. I always have a nice comfy pair of quality glasses that I can see clearly though. No point in buying cheap lenses if they scratch easily and you're not going to wear them. My eyes are worth protecting.
My $500 Raybans (bought for $200 after discounts and cashback) scratched as easily they are plastic not glass.

Did you UV test them? They probably are but safety isn't a concern at all for fakes. The lenses may shatter too.
I'm sure visually/optically there would be a different but still agree there is a big markup.
They all come out of the Luxottica factory.
They will have 2 of the same glasses, and the only difference is that one will have a brand logo, and the other is blank and generic.

But how do you know, which factory is that? People always say 'same factory' for everything over there, must be a massive factory if there is only one!
At least Maui jim isn't Luxottica. I've got some Persols that are pretty good quality, don't think I'd find a copy on AliExpress anywhere near the same.
Persol was bought out by Luxottica, but is still made in its original factory in Italy.
Far out, these are the sorts Reddit people in the US recommend to buy as a non-Luxotica one at a fraction of the price (like, maybe $50 max), but here they're on par with Ray-Bans. Ripoff.

Look after them and they will stay in excellent condition for a very long time.

I had a fantastic pair of Maui jim aviators that were polarised and graduated, weren't cheap and can't find those any more. Only drawbacks is glass is heavier and most Maui jims are huge.
