      They changed the price match policy a while ago. No longer matching from stores requiring membership like Costco.

      If you are willing to wait for the super lengthy cashback, you can get it cheaper through with Woolworth Marketplace (but you want at least 25% cashback or 30% cashback preferably).

      The main advantage of buying from Costco is the 90 day money back guarantee from Costco. However, if you want Apple Care on these, you still need to do it within 14 days.

      2nd gen vs 3nd gen, it is subjective. Some people find the 3rd gen fit them better, some don't. Some people prefer AirPods 3's sound signature, whereas some people prefer 2's.

      2nd vs 3rd gen (for me - I must re-iterate sound and how well they fit is subjective):

      • 3rd gen's sound is more colourful to me and I prefer that. More punchy bass.
      • 2nd gen is more comfortable to me. 3rd gen, it's not very comfortable, especially on my right ear (left one is fine).
      • AirPods Pro 3's static and noise issues reported is something I am concerned about (haven't had 3rd gen long enough).
      • To me, ANC is better on 3rd gen, but not 2X better.
      • To use all the features for the 3rd gen, you need to use iOS 26 (otherwise you get a warning when you try to set it up).

      So far, I actually prefer 2nd gen because the 3rd gen is not comfortable enough for me (despite I prefer the sound on 3rd gen).

    After looking at marketplace for 'brand new' listings for a couple of hours, I thought I'd go for this deal lol These listings just get lamer every time. 'Unwanted gift with receipts' - why didn't you just return it since it's still sealed? That seems to be the most popular one, then you have 'only opened the box to take photos' etc.

      Depending on when those were purchased by the original retailer / seller from Apple, Apple may or may not adjust the warranty start date. If the gap is short enough (i.e. a couple of months), Apple will automatically adjust / permit the warranty to start on the date of activation soon after the activation (it will still initially show the warranty date based on the date the original retailer / seller purchased from Apple, but should change within hours). If the gap is too long, you will need to go through Apple Support to change it. While Apple Support are generally helpful, the team that's authorised to make the change has a very strict rule: an invoice with the serial number of the AirPods Pro 3 written must be provided in order for them to adjust it (and it is annoying because the date you purchased the item / invoice date is normally not the date you received the item so you do lose a few days). Apple Support will generally tell you to add the serial number to the invoice (if the seller didn't put that there).

      An issue with feeBay purchases on these from a casual seller is that you don't get a tax invoice. So for "unwanted" gift, you want the original tax invoice as a backup. Alternatively, the discount must be worthwhile that losing 3-6 months worth of warranty is "okay" with you. In that case, getting AppleCare will be tedious (I think you need to go to Apple store to have it checked).

      Once opened, it's second hand to me. Most eBay sellers won't guarantee if the warranty date doesn't change to the date you activate the AirPods, they will provide full refund. However, with feeBay now switching to buyer paying for protection fee, those sellers could be in for a big surprise. Sending AirPods back to the seller can still be a bit annoying.

        I didn't know Apple did that, kinda interesting. Never bought anything Apple still sealed second hand, have sold a couple when they come bundled, but moved rather fast.

        From what I have found out, once it says the warranty is active, that doesn't mean the product has been used, just changed hands.

        I don't like the idea of buying secondhand goods over post, so ebay has never been a place of interest unless they offer local pick up. So many points of failure, just not worth it.

      Most airpods with that description on marketplace are fake. The receipts are fraudulent (counterfeit), and the airpods are not genuine.

        I think they'd upped their game too, the sn is real. So whoever is making counterfeits actually own legit ones, and put the sn on these units. It's just too bad the fence isn't that smart, they typically sell a jumper and some sneakers at the same time… After the 3rd one, you kinda get the pattern lol
        I want to understand how they fake the receipts though. If it's just replacing this and that then print it out, it's not very interesting.

          s/n being real has been a thing for years. it is usually a serial that has been taken by a real pair by the people who were reverse engineering them in china in order to make the clones. the fake receipts are just templates that these people have, and print. i would always ask to see a bank statement in order to verify the receipt.

    Not a Costco member, trying to do the balance of membership fees and benefits, $20 sign up gift card, $20 trade in, but want it today in Sydney 🤓

    Edit: just saw Mobileciti is also $369 so will try price beat them!

    I managed to get a price beat from Officeworks on the Costco price, worked out to $312.55. No idea how as membership retailers are specifically excluded from price beat, just call and give it a go.

        Try the call centre, that's how I got the price match. The product was even out of stock with Costco at the time too, which is another price beat no-no.

          I went with Woolworth marketplace and 25% cashback route. Should have done it the 30% cashback earlier. Still waiting for the cashback.

          My main concern with AP3 is the discomfort I get when wearing them. That's something I never experienced with AP1 or AP2.
