    Played it through GamePass. Some of those escape a certain area sections were challenging. Enjoyed the game (can be frustrating at times). The sequel is great too.

    Played this while my kids watched. They got really into it. Encouraged me when i kept dying over and over again too, lol

    Do not sleep on this if you haven't played it. Very tight controls. Great world. Incredible graphics. Just an absolute all-round fantastic game

    Started few years back on switch then hung up as find it too challenging for me 🙁… which this thinking to start again my Lego. The bundle of both games is also on sale, in case anyone is interested.

      Ginso tree escape was really challenging for me. Even with easy difficulty (which offers a mid-escape checkpoint) was still very hard for me. Felt like snapping the controller in half multiple times. Forlorn Ruins gravity bits were tough for me also.

      Second game, escape the giant sand worm, is probably the toughest part. I think no mid-escape checkpoint on that one. I did get lucky when playing that section. It's possible to make small mistakes while still able to pass.

    Hot take, having played both, I'd say there's no need to play the first game. The second one is just better in every way…

      Agree both can be played in either order, but disagree that one is better than the other. Both are absolutely fantastic platformers. Both provide a decent challenge, and are very rewarding to see Ori powering up as the games progress. Highly recommend both, they frequently go on sale

        Second one does improve on a few areas and overall easier so less number of rage quits. On the one hand, they are really entertaining games, on the other hand, most people will get frustrated at certain sections of the games.

      If you only have time to play one of them, then probably just play the sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps. I did start with the second one (because it was a day 1 release on GamePass), stopped after a couple of hours. Not sure what triggered me to play the first game later on. I finished the first one, then finished the second one. Also, I found the first game tougher / harder.

      The two games are considered first party titles so they are in GamePass library. However, given how expensive GamePass is nowadays, buying this game outright (if you haven't played) might be cheaper.

    Great game, agree that the sequel edges it out slightly but both still very good games.

    Its a very accessible metroidvania. I was able to play Ori without googling anything. Hollow Knight had me googling stuff constantly. If you are new to these style of games but don't want to jump in the deep end then this would be a good choice.
