Aldi doesn't have the $5 pre paid anymore. I had to spend $15 plan + $2 sim on Aldi this year to port out and back in.

@nomistake: I've seen plenty of discounted Sim cards at Coles for $6, $7 (throwaway) or even a $15 Telstra one there would last a month with 80gb

Yes, I learnt it the hard way just 2 weeks ago, for both the Telstra and Aldi $2 SIM packs.

Woolworth mobile is $12.50 for the first month/22gb and they give you a 10% off a woolworth shop voucher with no limit.
If you use that for a major monthly shop you should be able to easily get your $12 back. We currently use it for my daughters sim and its generally covers the monthly cost ($25 a month ongoing). For kids it has the advantage that they can't use a years worth of data if they're not paying attention.

I bought 3 SIM cards like this late last year. The last of card I activated today. I'd say they don't have activation period. The expiry date printed on the SIM pack is 4th April 2027. I don't know if this is the old stock of Boost SIM cards, but I think it's great value.

Boost doesn't have access to Telstra 5G Standalone (only access to Telstra 5G Non-Standalone and 4G).
In any new Telstra 5G SA-only areas, a Boost service should fall back to 4G. So we'll lose access to some new 5G coverage in those SA-only areas, but not necessarily lose all mobile coverage in theory.

I totally agree, the service has turned to junk at my location. I'm only getting 10 Mbps download speeds, and Telstra support confirmed that this is acceptable. They offered me a full $300 refund, but I think I'm going to switch back to Vodafone. At least with them, I was getting 150 Mbps.

Does it have any terms & conditions for the data allowance? In the Boost / Costco $219 deal a few months back, the SIM expiry was well into the future but you had to activate it by 4th of May to get all the data (300Gb, if you didn't activate it by that date you'd get 240Gb instead).

Are you sure? I was under the impression Optus doesn't differentiate coverage between native customers and their wholesale/MVNOs - with the exception of 5G SA/NSA modes, in that 5G SA is only available to postpaid Optus. 5G NSA (so it requires 4G as well) is available to all
Telstra do something similar too, in that 5G SA mode is only for their postpaid. And general network coverage depends if you're Telstra postpaid, Prepaid, or Wholesale/MVNO. Boost used to get the full network, but as of early 2025 was changed to advertise 'Full telstra prepaid network".

While Telstra and MVNO use that reference phrase, there is no practical difference I could find on their coverage page and map, and might only be a difference in MVNO references to speed/bandwidth.
Optus doesn't give any of their 5G+ (SA) to pre-paid or MVNO.
It's a pretty big exception from their network and why I had to move to Boost for coverage.
