Officeworks has matched the price for anyone that missed out or unable to purchase from BIG W Toy Sale.
Unfortunately this means that you can't price-beat anymore.
PS: Switch 2 Console price will increase to $769.95 from 1st September.

Did you do the ultimate gift cards instore?
I did price beat over the phone, and only credit card as an option. Maybe when i go in to pickup they will let me re-buy with gift cards… But i doubt it
Gift cards are only in store, but i swear i read a policy if you use price beat you can't use gift cards. Maybe I dreamt it, i don't know
I couldnt use my gift cards for the purchase earlier today. The store I went to in Sydney didnt allow me to use after price beat. So now I have 5 spared cards.
@qhoa: yeah i didnt bother taking the risk with the GCs on this one, they got issues with "technology" segment (for online redemptions) with those ultimate GCs and if a store outright refuses its just annoying more than anything else, have to drive to other places and its a YMMV thing
GCs are also non-refundable for obvious reasons and chasing up with the GC company is a pain when it doesnt work
furthermore the Ultimate GCs werent even variable so youd need to do two seperate trips/two accounts to get 10-12 x $50 of them unless you pull a dodgy on the day etc etc, just so much d*cking around for 50 bux
the GC deal was excellent for the recent Timezone offering though
Yep in-store, in Brisbane. My plan was that if OW refuse payment by gift card I'd just get price matched in JB hifi and use them (10% off ultimate GC is still better than 5% OW price beat)
How did you do a price beat since other retailers such as Big W are doing it at exactly the same $629 price?. Or you bought it from OW before they matched the $629?.
This morning Officeworks still had it at $669, and so there was a big rush to price beat before they matched
I'm surprised it took them that long to match it
Same price at Big W. Good thing about it there's online and in store layby at Big W. I'm waiting on my online layby for this to go through. Glad i skipped the original Switch for this i heard that it's way more powerful than the original Switch.
Also the SanDisk microSD Express 256GB card for the Switch 2 is $69 at Big W. I layby that too with it.
Pretty BS. When I asked in store at OW before the price reduction, they said it's a different product number so they couldn't match. And lo and behold…
Well some one at the store lied. Pretty typical of some sales people.
Pretty typical of some sales people.
Not just sales.
Sounds like you should call head-office and make a complaint as that person doesn't know how to do that part of their job.
Don't really know why I'm still considering buying one, the only currently released game that I'm interested in checking out is Pokopia, then there's the next Pokemon gen that probably wont release until late next year, and it's hard being confident in the quality of that until it's out.
Maybe I should wait and see what's announced tonight.
i hope zelda oot remake is coming soon… tempted to wait for the zelda version for higher resale value and because i am a fan… but doubtful it would be released anytime before the price hike. so….
The latest rumour was OoT would only get a brief tease tonight but will get a full reveal later in the year in it's own direct.
so definitely after the price hike then. wondering if i should just bite now and secure a good price or wait until then and cop the hike for the exclusivity.
@eunthumb: I can't answer that, my info was just from a (often accurate) leaker. Not even sure if there will be a special edition console for the same reason the price is going up.
Good deal but will check Christmas deal based on $769.5 RPP
Do you believe you could get it cheaper then $579 at that point of time? Because that is what could have been done on Tuesday if you combined with Ultimate Gift Cards, further if you price matched before OW price matched Big W.
I don't need one, but feel like I need to buy one before price rise lol
You call me, sir?😂
That was my thoughts… just pulled the trigger.
Finally bit the bullet… I was really tempted to skip this gen given the lack of decent games and no OLED. At $597 which I manged to get this morning at OW + TRS claim next week it seems worth while to jump in before the price jump in Sept.
Damn of course nintendo has to update Xenoblades and a new one for Switch 2. Might have to pick one up a switch 2 now :/
If anyone has purchased from JB in the last two weeks, I walked in-store with the Officeworks website open and receipt and they happily refunded me the price difference. I ordered online and went back to a different store than the one I click and collected at.
JB have been great like that. I got $200 back on my Legion Go when they went on sale after I bought mine.
As someone who hasn't been following switch 2 pricing (but I know prices are going up in September) is this a good deal if I want to buy one in the next ~1.5 months? Or is it worth waiting for w better deal/bundle etc?
Previously the best time to pick up a Switch Console is usually around Black Friday (when they have bundles), but since the price increase happens before then, this might be the last chance to pick it up before the increase.
I just picked one up for $588.05 from JB.
They price matched Officeworks/Big W. I signed up for a $10 JB Perks voucher using a throwaway email address and I purchased JB gift cards at 5% off through work (check your bank/credit card, health insurer, etc for discounted gift cards).
Who is buying these? For $664.05, you can get an XBOX Series X Digital Edition by price-beating Big W or Amazon @ OW. How does no one think these are exorbitantly expensive? I get that it's portable, but it's a 1080p screen.
People who want Nintendo exclusives.
That would make sense.
How long is this deal for??
Missed out on the coles ultimate gift card 10% damn!!!
Any other similar??
How long is this deal for??
Price-matching BIG W Toy Sale which ends on 8th July.
Any other similar??
If they still have stock next week, Coles has 10% off Celebration Gift Card which can be used at Officeworks
For the gift card, can it be used on online to purchase from officeworks and have it delivered even if they don't have stock in store? From what I gather, the discount on the switch 2 would be around $63?
Layby it and wait for a gift card deal.
Does OW offer laybuy?
I've been holding out for an OLED model but i'm starting to feel less and less hopeful that it will actually happen :/
I thought the same - but I reckon that's about 2 years away. Just purchased.
We shall see. Manufacturing/material costs have gone way up so it wouldn't be all that surprising if they decide to stick with the cheaper LCD screens they're currently using.
If they do it will probably be some thing like around $1000 is my assumption. Going by the increase in prices due to the RAM and NAND storage price hikes. It won't be cheap.
The OLED model of the SW1 came out 4 and a half years after the original console, the SW2 has only just had it's first birthday. I wouldn't expect a SW2 OLED for at least another year, and even that would probably only be if the pricing situation eases.
They would want to wait long enough for more people to buy the original one that might want to upgrade to an OLED one.
Does it have any games yet, or will it sit unused until OoT comes out?
Switch 2 has been out for a year. There's some games specifically made for the Switch 2. Even Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition is on the Switch 2. That's a game that i'm going to buy when i get my Switch 2 off layby at Big W. Would go well with the Switch 2 Pro Controller.
Just to show you some of the available Switch 2 games. Here's a list of games currently on sale for the Switch 2 on digital download. But that's not all Switch 2 games just the ones that are discounted on sale.
https://store.nintendo.com.au/au/digital-downloads/current-o…
I figured I will only ever play CP2077 on PC, and I have a handheld powerful enough to play it too. Any Switch 1 games I had that were available on multiple platforms - I ended up playing them mostly on PC…
Just picked up a Switch 2 with Pokopia bundle (yeah, I like digital, sue me) from Officeworks. They price matched, but refused to price beat - even though the price on the website is higher than Big W, their internal price matched Big W. Oh well.
I went all digital on Switch 1, but I think I will buy physical copies for games I might only play for a few weeks, and sell them later - like DK: Bananza, and the new Yoshi game also looked good.
For anyone bought from jbhifi for 649, today I went to the shop, showed my receipt, showed him officework/big w 629 price, the staff just refunded me 20 bucks without hassle.
Digidirect is listing as $627.30; idk if OW would price match, if anyone is interested.

Is it Australian stock though?
hmm not sure, but should be?
Digidirect
AWAITING STOCK
Can't do pb
Price beat for me earlier today. Had 7% off gift cards with RAA too.
Guess we need a bit of luck
BTW, was digidirect saying awaiting stock when you bought one from officeworks?
I'm not sure sorry, I didnt notice, but it was only a couple hours before the above messages pointing it out
Price matched via JB Hi-Fi online and picked up instore. I think there might've been a chance to get either Kirby Air Riders, Metroid Prime 4 or Pokemon Legends ZA at $49 as well. When I picked up the Switch, I saw that they had a promo where you coul purcahase either of the games at that price provided you purchased just the base setup. Sales guy said he couldn't sell any of the games at that price as it had to be bought together in the system. Ended up getting a copy vai FB marketplace for 50 bucks instead.
Omg I just got one from them with 5% price beat 10 mins ago.
Combined with 10% off Ultimate Gift card
